Don't use Way.com

Way.com recommended Laurel Street parking who took zero responsibility when our car was destroyed in their parking garage. After making a reservation with Way.com and paying in advance we were told by by the parking attendant that the lot was full and they would have to park our car for us. When we returned from our trip a week later, the driver side of our car was destroyed.
Laurel Street Parking never returned our multiple phone calls therefore refusing any responsibility. Way.com also refused responsibility and is helping to promote irresponsible businesses.

It's not Play dot com any more

It's not Play dot com any more. Play.com closed down and these clowns (rakuten) have purchased the domain name and are diverting ex play customers to an entirely different, Japanese based company.

Rakuten is where you can get cash back for shopping at over 2,500 stores. So basically it's yet another affiliate site that gets paid for sending you to other brand sites. And they try to con you into signing up with them, then they'll spam your email address for the rest of your natural life and probably beyond.

Play.com used to be an amazing site

Play.com used to be an amazing site. Now its just full of pop ups and adverts. Its just gives you details of other retailers offering deals and you have to regester to see the info. Rubbish site, how the mighty have fallen. I wont be shopping with play anymore

Play/Rakuten

I've used Play or Rakuten for years to buy items for some years and have never had any problems.

Payment is quick and simple. The prices are great. I have bought used books and records from them and items are usually of the quality if not better than stated.

I'd recommend this site to anyone who's looking for bargains

What a great site

I just love this site. Great, fun products and speedy delivery. It's great if you're stuck for a gift for someone too as you can shop based on age etc

Shameful

Play.com sed to be my favourite online shop. I bought from there for years. Recently remembered it for a few techy bits I needed and was appalled.
Its now nothing more than one of these scammy site forcing you into schemes that are hard to avoid and the whole site in general appears to be pretty untrustworthy.

On closer look it seems (and confirmed by others) that its been bought out by some other company who has trashed it and is just exploiting people like me who relied on its previous reputation.

Definitely wont ever be buying again.

Rakuten Super Points Scam

I ordered an item through Rakuten in a promotion. The item was very pricey but I was told I'm going to get super (loyalty) points for my purchase.
But they did not added the points to my account. So I emailed them and they told me that I have to wait up to 16 days to get my points.
I waited for few weeks and when I came back to make another purchase, I saw that the loyalty points are already expired. They added to my account without any alert and it was available only maybe for a week.
I was very disappointed so I emailed them again but the nice lady just kept telling me that she can't do anything and it was my fault that I did not check their website every day.
I have to say this is the worst customer service I have ever received!
Even the Chinese sellers from eBay and Ali express are more helpful than this company.
Their Terms and condition did not mention the 16 days waiting time so they definitely play for that you are going to forget about your points.
I feel scammed and I'm going to avoid any future purchase from Rakuten.
And I advise the same to you. They play a shady game with their super points.

Really bad - never delivers items

This company has lots of smaller traders on their site, however they have no mechanism for when things go wrong. If that trader doesn't deliver the item they don't have any way of raising a complaint. This is expected from a company like Ebay, but even Ebay has systems to deal with issues. In comparison, Amazon provides a far superior service. Unless the item is significantly cheaper on this site, you are much better off spending a few pounds more on buying from Amazon. You are much more likely to get the item, and if things go wrong Amazon resolve things quickly.

Not What it was

I sorry to say that Play.com is not the company it used to be. Maybe its the competition so they no longer have the niche in the market that they did when they first started. Hopefully things will improve

Shop elsewhere!!!!!!

Generally exorbitant and preposterously priced goods are only attractive when Rakuten occasionally offer percentage off voucher codes and 25x Super Points to bring some semblance of reality to the pricing on this laughable marketplace. But the Super Points are obviously designed to trap members into spending more, and quickly at the consequence of losing them by specified dates. The sellers themselves are of a primordial class, never responding to emails or phone calls if an issue arises. Rakuten's customer service is anything but a service, and reflects it's substandard merchants' deplorable attitude toward it's customers. I am in the midst of trying to get my money back but may have to go through my bank to get it as Rakuten offer no real guarantee. And their silence in this matter reinforces this. Save yourself from pain and shop elsewhere.

Awefull birthday present choice

I could not have chosen a worse toy for my son's 5 year birtday. Pley.com Customer Service 1 (888) 812-8749. It literally took me 2 months to receive this toy which was a present for my sons birthday. After his asking me daily when he would receive it, I sent several emails and was completely shot down by the customer service acting manager Timothy and "Customer Service" rep. Amanda. They said they had problems documenting when they receive the toys back. This delayed my shipment. Problem was, I had already spoke with "customer service" 2 weeks prior about the same issue and the same toy. When I told Timothy this, he said he had no way of referencing previous correspondence with my account REALLY!? YOU GUYS CANG TRACK EMAILS?!$... Overall an awful experience which could have been remedied by the basic customer service we have come to expect in America. Definitely do not get the year contract. With one toy every month that = 6 toys a year with Zero customer service.

What went wrong?

Used to be the ONLY place I would go to buy media gifts as they were generally one of the cheapest places online and the delivery was scary fast (usually next day without any additional charge). Since the sellers have come on board and the change, there is hardly anything on there that I couldn't find cheaper elsewhere and the loyalty 'super points' you build up amount to no significant discount on your next order (having shopped there for 5 years) (worse still is that they had a time limit on which to use them!)

...and the site looks like ebay now! WHY WHY WHY!

Horrible

I purchased a monitor during a promotion they were running. They cancelled the order stating "invalid credentials". Not only was the actual seller unaware of what that means, Rakuten's support had no clue either. Nevertheless, they pulled out the terms and conditions and stated that they won't fulfil the order.

To top it all up, a week later the amount is still blocked on my card.

Their website is terrible as well and the checkout procedure is bad to say the least. I'll keep to reputable sellers such as Amazon from now on, never again Rakuten. Avoid at all costs.
