Awful

Awful. It’s nearly impossible to get a real person on the line. It took me 10 minutes to speak with a real representative. The AI agents they’re using is garbage. Then when I finally did get a real agent. I could barely understand them. I don’t recommend this company.

Never do business with them. holding my deposit hostage

They deposited my insureds claim check and Penny claims they didn't and mailed check back when we had the proof of deposit from the carrier front and back and PennyMac will not relase the $ or let us talk to a manager to resolve to pay our contractor. Have to wait 3 days for someone to call. Horrible service outsourced to some company or Pennymac. a one star should be zero. run away from this company

I’d give a negative star if I could

I’d give a negative star if I could. Pennymac is the worse company to ever deal with. My wife’s parents passed away in June. Since then she’s been paying the mortgage by phone due to we don’t have a loan number in order to get a payoff and sell the house. They keep giving her the runaround. DO NOT GIVE PENNYMAC ANY BUSINESS!!!!!!!

They can't get their customer portal to work

My loan got purchased by PennyMac. As I am trying to do my 2025 tax return I need to get information for my accountant. I am only able to log into the portal about 10% of the time(it tries to create a new account for me when I already have one). When I do log in, none of my documents are available. I then call into customer support and finally get to someone who can only help me try to get logged in by resetting my password every time but can't tell me why my documents are not showing up and telling me that they can't email them to me. Awful experience all around. Avid them if you can

My experience with Penny Mac was so good I am still kind of surprised

My experience with Penny Mac was exceptional. From start to finish it was the smoothest part of my first home buying experience which was very unexpected. I actually felt heard and advocated for and had very open communication at all times. Ayman Botros brought me in and Grace Sparks took me across the finish line to my forever home. I had difficulty with my poor choice in realtor, but everything I wanted to know, Grace backed me up. What was important to PM for the VA requirements was also important me to ensure a sound and safe home. Grace kept me well informed as to what was expected, required, and always answered my many questions with patience and professionalism. She made follow up phone calls to check status and keep me on track to success. While too often I got her documents last minute she ensured they were addressed quickly and properly. The website was a very convenient and easy to use tool to assist in communication, signing, and uploading documentation with ease. I so grateful to the entire team that facilitated me during this crazy adventure.

My team was responsive and helpful every step of the way. They made it easy for me. Whenever I had questions I called or texted and got same or next day responses!

I have not received my 2025 mortgage…

I have not received my 2025 mortgage interest statement. I attempted to get onto their website and register but since I originally used my Gmail username which had a@ character in it it wouldn't accept. I tried to simplify without the @ character to simple alphanumerics but every time it would repeat the same Gmail username.
I attempted to call the company but there's an automated loop with they send you to their automated response which basically tells you to go on the website it does not allow you to speak to a representative. I spent about 20 to 30 minutes doing this before giving up.
My experience with them in the past is also been very poor–give me a government agency anytime over a lot of these private Enterprises where no one seems to give a crap about customer service–the service economy without any service

Not trust worthy

My loans got sold to PennyMac. I attempted 3 times to set up auto pay and it didn’t go through. They charged me for a late fee and said nothing wrong on their end. I think it is a trap that they made it so difficult to set up automatic payments to get you with the late fee. They did not earn my trust. I’ll try to refinance to another company when it’s time

Payment & Credit Issues

Payment & Credit Issues: Misapplied or unposted payments resulting in incorrect late fees and severe credit score drops.
Poor Communication: Inaccessible customer service,, lack of response to inquiries, and unreturned management calls. Dismissive, won't help my boyfriend with his late payments due to his primary care Dr not releasing him to return to work for a mo th after his afib ,heart attack in which he had to have 3 stints put in. Putting him behind on his mortgage payments. Now , after making his current due payments, placing the late fees and payments on the end, he finds out they sold his loan back to VRM and placed it in forclosure. He retained a lawyer Tim Bible. But this company is BS . They assured him him va loan would not default. They lie. Would Recommend

Obviously obtaining a mortgage is never fun, but I appreciated the helpful agents at PennyMac and their consistent follow up. I had no issues at closing and their app makes monthly payments easy.

The communication and chain of people…

The communication and chain of people you have to work with to fund out anything has to be the worse experiences ive ever had. Zero communication. How they operate as a functional company boggles my mind. They have 3 people doing the job of one person. And if they dont communicate with each other the chain fails becuase of one weak link providing an awful experience.

Pennymac Customer service is virtually non existant

I did not choose Pennymac as my provider. They bought out my loan from loan depot before my first payment was due. My problem right now is communication. In 5 months I have been able to speak with a representative once. That person was unable to help me. I have had a double payment of real estate taxes. The person that I spoke with said I would get a refund after the escrow analysis. That was done and they attempted to send the check to an account that does not accept checks. I have made several attempts to call them and got the endless loop. I have sent several secure messages to them with no response. We are talking about over $2,000. Many people could not stand that. I would never willingly choose this company.

What a letdown

What a letdown. After an over-the-top sales pitch that lasted close to three hours and begging me to close on the loan that night (some guy at the top promised a $5,000 credit just for me to sign), they strung me along for a whole month promising they'd update me with a request I had since the first week. There was always a hold up and they never delivered on any of their promises. After asking for my request and letting them know I had another offer I wanted if they couldn't provide, they sent an email stating they were sorry to see me to go.

AVOID AVOID AVOID

I have purchased multiple houses in the past, and this time I had the unfortunate experience of having my loan sold to PennyMac. There is no one that you can get in contact with who has any experience or knowledge about any process other than collecting payments. Avoid having them service your loan above all else

You will not get help in any manner.

Dishonest. Uneducated. Unaccountable.

I honestly cant wait until I am done with the company. I have hit a financial struggle. I have tried 3 different times to set up a biweekly auto pay schedule. I had 3 different results. I've given up completely with not only dealing with the company but also setting up what I needed to make things easier for me, financially. What really got me was when I was able to successfully make that extra monthly payment to be able to enroll in the program, they weren't able to send me confirmation I was enrolled. They told me I was enrolled. They said it verbally to me, to my husband, and through a message because they weren't able to provide proper paperwork. Proper documentation stating I was enrolled. They even failed to give me the correct withdrawal date of when it would start. I was told 2 different dates. And they won't take any part of accountability where their company screwed up. I wasted all of my extra funds to get that set up. And the company failed me. I was lied to in regards to dates, to being told I was enrolled in something. What the company should have done is voided what was done prior and reset it up when I called to re enroll. They did not. All I really got from them was a break down of everything and told I wasnt lied to. When I was told I would get a follow up phone call all I received was a letter basically going over everything that was stated on the phone. No one looked into what really happened when I had finally done all the things they wanted me to do. And im back to square one. A company like this doesnt want you to be set up on a program like that anyway because all they see is less money theyll make on the interest when you make an entire monthly payment just towards your principal. Fun fact. If you make 1 extra payment a year you can shave a couple of years off of your mortgage.

So many things where to begin?

The worst thing that happened to us was having Pennymac buy our mortgage. Nightmare at every turn. Very bad Customer Service. When we call we are told a different thing every time. Their phone text and call messages make no sense. One time they called with an offer and I called back and they said "what what we can't offer you that". Strange. However, really sick of the mail offers, I call and talk to what seems like a teenage boy and they all say the same thing "we don't do that" and give me a list of other entities to call. They act silly and just weird and say try "Sliterro or Loan Depot. Kind of funny Pennymac sends letters out for opportunities, you call the number and teenagers recommend other banking facilities?

I was requesting to have a late fee…

I was requesting to have a late fee reversed because there was a change in our escrow and I paid it on their website on the 15th but put the amount into "additional escrow" vs mortgage payment and therefore they said it went to the wrong place but made the adjustment and still charged us a late fee. Takes 30-40 minutes just to get someone on the phone - terrible company with no customer service
