I shop from peacoc auction every week and I always manage to get bargains. The people working there are very polite and honest. You can go before the auction and write the numbers you want to bid for. You can check everything if it works missing part ect. The tax Vat etc it's state everywhere and also the auctioneers remind that before every auction, so I think it's really good place to shop from

What an unforgettable auction…
What an unforgettable auction experience. I paid around £26 for what was described as a badminton set with a lawn-standing net and frame, only to discover that the badminton rackets were missing, crucial top net-holding parts were absent, and one of the frame sections was cracked. A truly immersive “mystery box” experience from start to finish.
Naturally, I contacted customer service claiming misrepresentation, and I was delighted to receive a masterclass in contractual copy-and-paste excellence. Their response demonstrated an elite level of commitment to reminding customers that “all items are sold as seen,” regardless of whether essential components are actually present inside the box. It takes remarkable dedication to customer policy to achieve that level of emotional detachment.
I was especially impressed by the philosophy that buyers should apparently inspect every screw, pole, crack, and missing item in person beforehand — a bold and innovative approach in the modern online auction era, particularly during a cost-of-living and fuel-price crisis.
The overall experience has taught me many valuable life lessons:
Hope is temporary.
“1. Complete set” is apparently a state of mind.
2. Cardboard boxes may contain literally anything.
3. Customer satisfaction is an abstract concept.
If you enjoy suspense, disappointment, and legally fortified indifference, this is absolutely the auction house for you.
Five stars for consistency, confidence, and the sheer Olympic-level commitment to “sold as seen.”

I went to the Bedford site today
I went to the Bedford site today. I had already left an online bid for some shoes, but decided to go in person to explore. I was outbid by £5 on the shoes, which was fine. I drove home, only to receive an invoice for the shoes! I rang and spoke with a lovely lady, who explained what may have happened (the other bidder failed for some reason). Part of the reason I went in the first place was the reviews I read regarding postage costs - so now I have to go back on Monday to pay and collect the shoes. However, I have been quite impressed with Peacocks - good organisation, pretty good sale items, clear information and quite a few staff (some working harder than others!). I did pay the £10 for lifetime membership but decided not to partake but to learn. I will certainly go again.

Get the sellers form changed to state item condition......
I have made numerous requests to change their sellers form for Saleroom 2 and 4 to improve accountability for power / electrical items being sold that are broken, dangerous to use etc.
They have refused stating "that's the the buyers problem to sort out by viewing"
Your just ripping the buyer off. It's not how it works now, you can see other auctions specifically state a power tool / electronics / 2 stroke tools condition. But not Peacock, so hopefully more and more people will realise SR 4 and 2 are a lottery and often the same kit reappears week after week.
An auctioneer said "ok, how would you run the auction then ?" Pay me your salary and I'll tell you, I replied. He hung up.

WORST AUCTION HOUSE IN THE UK
I can honestly say the 2 lots I bought from here (supposedly mixed jewellery lots) was the worst pile of rubbish I’ve ever received. I was already met with sour taste when I was quoted £40 to ship these two lots. As an eBay seller I lose money on my postage costs, it’s not ethical on eBay to make money from shipping so I really don’t understand how these auction houses get away with it. As a comparison, I’ve just bought 10 lots of jewellery from Smiths and they’ve charged me £20, I’ve bought 14 lots from Folkestone and they’ve charged me exactly what it’s cost them…
Appreciating the fact items are sold as seen (even though the majority of online bidders can’t physically see the items and rely on limited photos and description), I requested a partial refund on the postage due to the extortionate costs to receive items I threw straight away. This was refused and met with a generic email about viewing items prior to bidding - I replied to explain it was the postage I was requesting a refund on, which was ignored so has all subsequent emails. It’s a shame a company would rather have a website of bad reviews then put their hand in their pocket and put things right but that sums up this auction perfectly, money grabbing, daylight robbery! I’m reading a lot of negative things about selling items there too, just avoid it… there are so many better ones out there! Let’s get this place finished as it does not deserve a place on the saleroom!
Test all appliances
I bought a vacuum cleaner via W H Peacock Auctions online and collected it from St Neots. Positive, great parking.
The item powered on, which I understand is what they mean by “tested”, but once home it had no suction at all. I later took it to a repair company who confirmed the motor is dead and beyond repair even if they got a new one fit.
I accept that auction items are sold as seen and that it was my responsibility to view and test the item properly before purchase, which I didn’t do. That part is on me. However, as it was a vacuum cleaner, I did expect that “tested” would mean it actually worked as a vacuum, not just that it switched on and didn’t blow up.
Disappointing outcome, and a reminder to anyone buying electrical items here to view and test them thoroughly in person before bidding.
W & H Peacock St Alban's - Shocking service...
More pictures and a better description of the items being auctioned. I bought 8 items and 4 of the were not fit for purpose. If you offer an online side of the business you need to offer a better service and better guarantee the items will work. A PAT test is not enough to guarantee the item is going to function. Disappointing for first time. Won't use a online auction again. Felt more like a recycling centre for substandard products.
Good parking lovely site.
Good parking lovely site easy to view all the auction rooms, and if you become a member, you can place remote bids. Great restaurant upstairs. We'll worth a visit.

Beware if placing maximum bids online prior to an auction
I went out of my way to view a product prior to the auction. The staff on site were very helpful, I paid for membership and was told I could place a maximum bid online as I was not able to attend the live auction.
Ten minutes before the auction I was called and a deposit was demanded otherwise my bid would not stand (No mention of this in person or online). So, my bid did not count! It was higher than what the item sold for, so their loss ultimately.
Be very careful if you are placing bids via the website.
It would be a 1 Star review but the people on site were very friendly and helpful.
Now they are emailing me fake invoices…
Now they are emailing me fake invoices saying I have won lots from their company. How childish and unprofessional of these scammers.
I suggest anyone with issues to contact Peterborough Trading Standards.

9th October this month sold items of vinyl including 3 Black Sabbath LPs for £100 each. Received confirmation of lots sold and unsold. Have heard nothing as to when I will get payment nor whether unsold lots will be relisted despite emailing the Bedford and St Neots office. Think I will use Excaliber auctions in King's Langley Herts for the rest of my vinyl and my film posters
Very poor customer service
Items for sale are all 'sold as seen' and after being burnt about an item that was completely inoperable I have checked other items that didn't work, so I won't buy without checking.
I went up there today to check out a network switch. I wanted to check that it would switch on and that an attached Wifi Acceess point would power up when connected, not a proper test for a switch worth several hundred pounds, but all that can be done at the auction room.
Despite the saleroom being very busy, there was only one member of staff in there. I told him that I would like to look at the item and he said he would add me to the queue.
Half an hour later I gave up and left. The member of staff made no attempt in that time to ask for an extra staff member to come in to help, nor it seems did management ask another staff member to help customers.
I would also add that previously I went up to examine 2 Sony camera lenses, one worked fine and I subsequently bought it. The other, more expensive, one would not autofocus. I made sure that the staff were aware that the lens didn't work properly, but when I listened to the auction online to buy the other lens, no mention was made of the fact that it was faulty.
I doubt I will buy from them again given the level of service.

Dubious trading methods
Their adherence to trading standards is dubious. I tested an item working on view day. Won the bid the following day. Collected 2 days later with no opportunity to check it. Got back to base, tested but it didn't work. £120 invoice on an £85 hammer price. Policy is sold as seen but clearly it was not as seen with no facility to check. Suspect label swapped from other similar items by potential purchasers (just a suggestion, not an accusation). Peacocks lied that they had checked cctv with no issues - their response time did not give them time to check hours of cctv. Ultimately they refunded the money but cancelled my membership despite the issue being their responsibility, failing to supply as seen or providing the facility to check.
Just noticed their response to another complaint:
"Our one-off £10 registration fee covers a lifetime account to buy and sell at our salerooms in Bedford, St Neots and Leamington Spa. By charging for registrations, we are able to keep our buyer’s premium down to one of the lowest rates available." ....
Not true. I had paid £10 and it certainly hasn't covered a lifetime account. They cancelled with no refund despite it not being my fault.
Aggressive and wrong customer service.
On the positive, their cafe is superb
