I've been using PayPal since it's birth. It once was an innovative service and a great way to pay & receive payments. Now it sucks. No customer service (and if you are lucky enough to get it once, you... See more

Venmo directed call to PayPal experience
I called Venmo customer service number
1 (855) 812-4430. They have a wait time. The automated voice message says “you can wait on the phone call for someone or we can give you a call back”. I did the call back option. They called me back from this number +1 (402) 935-7733. This is a PayPal phone number. I talked to someone on the phone and started talking about my business profile which is why I was calling. I wanted to be sure that I chose the right registered business type. They kept talking about the business category and I had to clarify it’s not the category it’s the registered business type. This is impossible to see apparently after you have chosen your business type you can’t see it in your settings or from an associate. The phone call disconnected so I called back. Someone different this time answered, I told them my situation. He basically said ma’am no this is PayPal not Venmo. I said I understand that but I was just talking to someone about my Venmo account and my business profile. How is that possible? He only replied with ma’am please understand this is PayPal not Venmo. As a customer, I am now annoyed because I am not making up the fact that I was talking to this someone from this number. To be honest, I hung up on him because he was not hearing me. Thought maybe I need to talk to someone else. The next person said the same thing. How is it that I talked to someone from this phone number about my Venmo account but they are making me feel like I was making it up? I wanted to talk to a supervisor at this point and you can’t unless you have a account with PayPal. Makes sense I get it but you have recorded phone call history and you would clearly see the phone calls I’ve had with this number and the conversation I had with someone. I call Venmo back and don’t choose the call back option, stay on the line. Now I’m talking to a supervisor through Venmo explaining the mess I’ve been through. Venmo flaw that PayPal will call you back if you choose call back option? Make sure if you disconnect don’t call PayPal number back because they will tell you are crazy for calling them when they aren’t Venmo when Venmo customer line had them call you? So confused, terrible experience, waste of my time. Paypal associates need to know this could happen with Venmo customers and to not argue with a customer that this is PayPal. It would of been so much easier if someone were to tell me “I’m sorry ma’am, Venmo customers can sometimes be directed to PayPal phone number but if you call us back we cannot help you. Please call Venmo customer service number again”.
That would have been way less stressful.
In regard to PayPal Monthly
In regard to PayPal Monthly, I haven't been this frustrated in dealing with Customer Service, ever. It seems that Customer Service tries to push their problems to other financial entities, that have nothing to do with transactions being denied. My example is this - PayPal Monthly refused to honor the final payment to a book vendor that had a balance due. PayPal Monthly then claimed that it was my bank that refused payment. When I have a "Pay-in-6" monthly plan, how does my bank refuse the vendor payment? Please explain...
Worst Customer Service Ever
Worst Customer Service Ever – Absolute Nightmare! have had the absolute worst experience with PayPal customer support. My account was restricted, and I was given a deadline to upload my verification documents, but their system completely locked me out and didn't even allow me to log in to upload them! I spent over $100 in international calling fees trying to reach their support lines in Israel, the US, and Canada. Every single time I called, the agents would tell me they are transferring me to a "specialist," and then the call would mysteriously drop or disconnect after a long wait. To make matters worse, they have completely shut down their support channel on X (Twitter), leaving locked-out users with absolutely no way to get help. Their automated security system is flawed, and their customer service is non-existent. They caused me a financial loss in phone bills just to hear a dial tone, and they are about to permanently restrict my account because of a technical glitch on their end. This is a highly unprofessional and irresponsible way to treat customers. Absolute trash service!
Horrendous
Once you talk to customer service, you have tried for weeks to solve the problem, and you are very enervated. They make it hard to reach customer service, so by that time you are really at the end of your nerves. If they paid for more customer service agents and put into place a normal hotline that can be called easily, then you would get help to solve your problems in swift time. Dumb chatbots can't help you like a human can.
Don’t fall for the PayPal Credit card
Don’t fall for the PayPal Credit card. No Interest if paid in full in 6 months on purchases of $149 or more is ONLY applicable when checking out online with PayPal. The advertising is completely misleading. One assumes the PayPal credit card sent in the mail without an application offers convenience and operates the a same as PayPal credit. It does not. When I called PayPal to understand why I had been charged interest, three people gave me three different answers that made no sense — “you purchased before the promotion” (no I didn’t), “you did not purchase online” (yes I did), and “you did not select an interest only payment” (because there wasn’t that option). I have lost all respect for PayPal through this experience and recommend others to cancel their PayPal credit card like I did - it’s nothing but a misleading sham.
NO STARS for lack of services:
NO STARS for lack of services:
It was to be excellent now all falls to Paypal agents that answer taht do not speak English well. They do not understand issues first hand, the hours are East Coats... WHY? now the money receive or sent has extra charges and they will accept charges coming fron anywhere.
I called Monday due to an issue with Uber ride several unknown charges and the agent asked to be on a 3rd line conversation so she can beileve that Uber support doesnt have a phone line, THEN When I called Uber with Paypal on the 3rd line and Uber virtual said they do not answer phone calls THEN Paypal hang up. As a firts tiem Uber-ride user I needed to use a coupon and instead no coupon was able to add to my ride: Uber ride charged the ride ($19.99) plus $2 tip that I never submitted, plus $10 for who nows what, and another unknown $15. Later, After trying to contact Paypal with no lack by phone, I disputed the amounts (not the ride of $19.99), and Paypal emailme that they pause my paypal account. I am a Paypal customer for over 12 years and an impecable record.
They’ll keep asking you to change your password
Be very ware of PayPal because they’ll keep making you change your password for no good reason.
Hopeless customer service reps in Far East
Hopeless customer service rep who did not seem to know what she was doing (or even what I was asking). Asked to speak to a supervisor after which I was put on hold for 30 minutes until the call was disconnected.
Terrible Customer Service and refund process
I wish i could use a minus -5 stars i would. Yes, it provides the ease of quick checkout on merchants sites etc but if you ever get scammed and you depend on Paypal to get your money back, you might as well don't waste your time-they ALWAYS favor the merchants and you are left scammed and out of money. And the reason is, they want merchant's to continue accepting their payment method. I got scammed by a merchant (Deen International) whom i paid for 3 cultural, time sensitive items that arrived AFTER the ceremony with one item nissing. I disputed it, merchant walked away with $119.99. Then there was the Bruxsy 3D Dinosaur blanket for $49.90 that came as a flat, 1D flannel blanket not even worth $5. I disputed it, sent them video of the advertised blanket plus what i received, they favored the merchant. I re-disputed it again, was told to ship the product back and provide proof, which i did on 5/1/26. On 5/9, they again closed the case in favor of the merchant, so i am out of $49.90 AND the product. I suggest if you continue using Paypal and have any issues, dispute with your bank directly if you are using a bank account tied to Paypal like me. Overall, customer service is terrible when you run into an issue. I will NOT be using Paypal ever.
The worst possible customer service
The worst possible customer service! I was given incorrect information, promised actions which employees never took; placed on hold for a supervisor repeatedly for long periods of time and no one ever answered the call. Chats with online agent absolutely unsatisfactory. Vendor agreed to reversal but PayPal made it impossible to do this.
Mainly the pay in 3 feature via paypal.
Mainly the pay in 3 feature via paypal.
it may seem like a good idea, but paypal your method of how to impliment this to a website is nothing short of terrible!
now i am computer literate but even your instructions are pretty usless .
you need to think of simpler way to have this intergrated into people website if doing it themselves.
Siding with scamsters
Been using PayPal for years. They think that they have a captive audience because of their monopoly. But will cancel now.
A fraudulent online seller scams you and then PayPal side with the scamster despite providing lots of evidence to Paypal, makes you wonder whose side they are on.
Bye Bye, PayPal
Utter rubbish and incapable

Very high fees with no customer support. Tech problem across multiple accounts, especially if you operate across multiple countries
One of the worst customer service experiences…
One of the worst customer service experiences I've gone through. I purchased a device on Giztop with no issues. I then tried to purchase another item when all of a sudden, PayPal flagged my account and requested that I verify my identity. Not sure what happened with my verification process, but I proceeded to coordinate with a customer rep via online chat.
That turned out to be a waste of my time. The rep stated that I violated PayPal's policies which resulted in my account being limited. I then asked what exactly it was that I did and they claimed they couldn't tell me due to a policy. I then stated that that's unacceptable to refuse to tell someone what exactly what they did wrong. After a few exchanges, I ultimately ended the chat and called customer service.
I surprisingly gained some way in working towards a solution. The rep asked me to verify a charge and its amount in which I did so. I found this extremely perplexing considering I went through the identity verification the night before. The rep then stated that my case would be sent to her team for a manual review and it'll take between 24 hours to 7 business days. I already knew this was going to bite me in the behind.
The next day, I receive a notification through a service called Swappa where consumers can buy or sell electronics. In this case, I had two items for sale and one was going to be bought. However, the gentleman couldn't purchase of my items because my PayPal account is permanently limited. Because of this, I had to cancel my listings.
Regardless of whether my account is restored or not, I will always say that PayPal has an abysmal customer service and needs to be improved greatly. It's unfortunate that there isn't another service out there that competes with PayPal. Otherwise, I would gladly do my business with them.
Payment security is a joke
Payment security is a joke. Got scammed out of $3299 and PayPal won't protect me or go after the money. Had used PayPal for years but will revert to a credit card payment instead or another form of secured payment.
Lousy job PayPal, been getting worse for years.
I have been a Customer for close to 20 years. 9:05 CDT letting in wrong purchase can't even speak with someone. I'm going to call you within your Bankers Hours and report your screw up and cancel my membership. Can't say what I want to because everybody is such a sissy now days. They won't post it.
