It was an easy process to start. All my questions were answered, and the process flowed fairly well initially but during the process I was traveling in Italy and had my wallet stolen with all my cred... See more

I have been with Navy Federal for a little over 2 years. I have never had a problem up until July 16, 2026. I have had my direct deposit set up and I used the oops a lot. lol, yes I overdraft my account. That’s not the point. The point I’m making is that I used a few cash advances. Meaning when I get paid the money I borrowed comes back out my account. For almost 2 years I have been doing this. Never had an issue because soon as my check is deposited the merchant takes the money. Well this particular week Navy Federal decides that they would honor multiple other payments and not that one. I check my account daily so I know what’s in there. The fact that they told me the money was never taken out my account and I had proof. I went back and forth with navy and green dot. I disputed the transaction b/c navy posted it to be completed on July 20 and now all of a sudden it mysteriously cleared on 7/17/26. They put a negative 400.95 charge on my account. I say this to say be careful with these credit unions. They are scamming and taking people money. This will be the last past check they get from me.

I have been with Navy Federal for a few years and find deposits and withdraws ok. But when it comes to detailed mortgage information they are terrible. The closing on my home could have been much easier than it was. Their people new nothing when the underwriters of the mortgage needed some account information. The woman I spoke to had no idea why proof of funds was asked for in a way she thought was incorrect. She went on to tell me they should do it in a different manner. If she had experience working with underwriters she would have done it without causing doubt and distress for the customer.Navy Federal has a cross training model that doesn't work. Many tellers don't always work well as mortgage experts. Your mortgage person fell far short of understanding types of mortgages and fell way short of even trying to understand my needs for my mortgage loan. Thats why I did not get my mortgage through Navy Federal. When I go to a credit union, I want to talk to an expert who works in mortgages full time. I am leaving Navy Federal because it seems I am asking for to much when it comes to my banking needs.

Gil and his assistant Amnita are incredibly responsive and professional. They have attended to my requests consistently. If Gil wasn't available Amnita would offer for him to return my call or she would make every effort to assist us. Great Financial Advisory Team, we fortunate to have them available.

Ive been with NFCU for years with multiple loans and products. This last mortgage process was terrible. So much I was considering moving my loans and account to another credit union. I felt like I was done wrong at closing & the process was terrible.

I've been a member of NFCU for a little over five years. They’re a good federal credit union, but I am not a fan of their policies, which give them a way to be very dishonest to their customers. I made many deposits, and none came back. Their excuse is that they have reasons to believe the check would not clear, be paid and for Security reasons they must add more holding days, hahaha. At this point, they’re profiling me. Please know my balances in all my accounts and CD’s are much higher then them checks amounts. Good customer service

They post my income a day early, I really needed a Credit Card and they gave me one. Everytime I have had an issue with my Debit Card, NF issued me another one. I am going to apply for a loan and I might just get it!!!!

Every time I finance with Navy Federal it's seamless with hardly any effort on my part. Let alone the lowest interest rates they have to offer. Job well done in my book!

Extremely disappointing mortgage experience. Navy Federal had my new construction loan for months, yet changed my processor and underwriter just days before closing. This resulted in confusion over my VA COE and funding fee exemption, poor communication, and ultimately a delayed closing because the closing package was not ready.
My loan officer was extremely difficult to reach and routinely deferred questions to the processor. As both a veteran and a Realtor, I expected much better from a lender that markets itself so heavily to servicemembers.
I later filed a formal complaint, but Navy Federal's response largely avoided the issues surrounding the last-minute personnel changes and delayed closing and instead emphasized that the loan eventually "closed successfully."
I will not use Navy Federal for another mortgage and cannot recommend their mortgage services to my clients.

Applied for an Auto Refinance based on the low rate advertising. Took a Hit on Fico score for applying and the rate was significantly higher than advertised and higher than my present rate.

Great rates and terms. Customer service was excellent as well. The process is much longer than most for financing but worth it. Just be prepared to wait.
