Avoid at all costs

It’s a shame that’ I cannot give this company 0 stars. I would suggest that anyone thinking of switching, to avoid like the plague. They are currently trying to bully my 70 year old father out of £500 due to a mistake that they made.
Last year he was using a key meter for his electricity and was told that changing to a monthly energy supplier would save him money. He switched to Green Star for his electricity supply. They then called him and told him he could save if he also switched his gas over, so he did. They set up his account and linked his gas supply to his existing account for electric. They took a monthly direct debit of £29. A few months ago, this leapt up to £90. He called to query this and while on the phone they asked who supplied his gas. He said they did. The advisor said they didn’t. When the advisor looked into it further he discovered that they in fact did supply the gas as well and that explains the jump from £29 to £90. He also said that they hadn’t been charging my dad for 10 months for the gas, but as it was their mistake they wouldn’t try to reclaim the lost revenue and would just begin charging him from then on. Dad agreed and they settled on a monthly sum.
The next thing we know, my Dad’s bank contacted him to say they had blocked a direct debit of over £400 from GreenStar who had tried to take everything from the 10 months for the gas in one go without notifying my dad.
They are now hounding him with daily calls, letters and debt collector threats. My dad is disabled and a pensioner. These people are scum. I’m going to sort this out for him tomorrow and we WON’T be paying them a penny. Scam artists. It’s very telling that they don’t respond on here as many companies do, presumably because they know that their behaviour is reprehensible. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

A truly loathsome company.

A truly loathsome company.
How much money do the shareholders and executives make, I wonder? The emphasis is on sucking money from the customer, whilst providing quite the worst customer-service I've experienced. It's the usual thing: long waits before you connect to people you can only half-understand, who can't do very much. You can't see your bills, you can't consult anyone - and then it's another mail, demanding money, threatening you. I gather Shell has now bought them, and that must say all you need to know about Shell. Suck up the money and the world can go to hell in a handcart. Pity anyone who works for Green Star and can't get out. Pity anyone who hasn't changed service provider.

Devil May care but Green Star Enefgy doesn't

I have given a one star for this company as it is the lowest I could give really I would score it at minus 25.
This is the worst energy company I have ever dealt with. You telephone them and are onhold for 40 minutes plus. You email them and you get a courtesy bounce back email that no one ever responds too. Then then refer you to a collection agency still without contacting you. When you can evidence to the collection agency that you have repeatedly contacted the company with no response the pass it back to Green Star Energy. Next what do they do they send you a default letter threatening legal action all without contacting you to discusss the issues. Eventually you are able to talk to a representative of the company to raise a complaint. Said representative records the complaint and provides a reference number saying some one fro the complaints department will call you to discuss your complaint.
Not likely they send an email saying sorry we didn't get things right. No opportunity to discuss the issues. Sorry is as sorry does and with this company that is exactly nothing.

Very bad communication service

Very bad communication service. Left this provider since 3-4 years. First they said no remaining bill. Then after few weeks they Send me remaining bill. Trying to contact them regarding remaining bill. Which is £152.00 I send emails, phone them they put me on hold 1/2 hour long wait and then disconnect.
But today they send me letter through recovery Agency. I'm Shocked how could they do with loyal cocustomer. Never suggest any one to join.

Had to deal with this awful company when they were already the energy supplier on a new place I moved into. Changed the account. They botched that. New provider I went with had proof they botched that and were trying to charge me money I didn't owe. Years later they still send me threatening letters saying I owe them money and threaten court action when I have proof I closed the account yonks ago and owe them zip. Sick of it. They are either grossly incompetent, or are trying to hustle money out of me. Stay well clear of them.

Possibly the worst energy company ever

Possibly the worst energy company ever. I inherited them In August 2018 when I bought a house - impossible to contact, no information, kept getting charged for the previous owners energy. Changed companies after having paid them £145 as a final bill for 2 months energy (in the summer!). 2 years have passed and I received a cheque last month from them as redress for their shoddy service, for £114. Have today had a bill asking for a final bill settlement of £3.87, 2 years later! Tried to phone them, was on hold for half an hour so I’ve just paid it to get them out of my hair. DO NOT GET ENERGY FROM THIS COMPANY!

Was with green star in 2016 then left for another company . Paid by direct debit and with every other company when you leave they take what is owed on last payment. Had no communication from green star till I had a letter from legal company stating I owed £150 . That is 4 1/2 year since I left them . It was pay up or go to court what a joke

My experience is very similar to…

My experience is very similar to everyone here. After receiving two emails confirming we do not owe them any money 9 months ago after we left them. Today we received a debt collectors letter today saying we owe them £1349.86 !!! Green star energy said that 3 days after they sent the email saying we did not owe them any money their system updated. I called the dept agency who told me to go to the ombudsman as our story did not sound right.

Avoid at all costs

Same as a lot of others here- should have a zero score. Set up a DD- no problems. The monthly amount being reasonable but not ridiculous. Paid DD's all along then when it came to change supplier they found I owed them 1.5k (had only been with them about 14 months! I live alone in a 1950's 3 bed semi and am out at work all day). I don't grow cannabis either! On looking more closely at the bill I found £400 was 'double accounting'. I asked them for a detailed breakdown of the bill to include separate utility unit use over this period. Almost two years later they have failed to provide. Following a letter today I have tried to call them again - dead line after 24 minute wait. e-mails have been bounced back and I have gone beyond frustration with them.
I don't wish to be slanderous, so for now I would just say..............DO NOT TOUCH THIS COMPANY WITH A BARGE-POLE!

Regulator really needs to step in here

Regulator really needs to step in here, so many people here with the same issue. They have bullied my parents into paying. Even though they tried and tried to setup a monthly direct debit they never took payment. When i told them to switch funny enough they woke up and asked for an astronomical amount. Same scenario as others here payment plan, and then over a year later a letter from debt collecters. Plan to take ombudsman but what will happen who knows. Stay away

PLEASE STAY AWAY!!!!

If i could give this company a 0 I would! It truely is the worst company I have ever had the displeasure of dealing with!
I moved to another provider in January, and was given a final outstanding bill of 302.54, which actually took me a month of chasing to get the actual amount as 3 different figures were given. I had never missed a payment and was given an the amounts to pay by direct debit, so how they got to this figure I do not know!
After complaining and being offered a £50 reduction in the amount owed, I set up a payment plan, which I finished paying in July of this year, only to receive a letter from a debt collection company this morning saying I still owed an amount!
Please please please do not use this company. It may seem cheaper, but in the long run, it was cost you more and cause you more stress. It is not worth it!

They are bullies and cheats

The one star is for sheer, bare-faced cheek. It's now over 2 years that they've been chasing me for money. Let me explain. I changed suppliers, and sent them my final meter readings. They - as I expected, given the level of my direct debits - sent me a final bill saying "we owe you £200+, contact us to arrange a refund". I did. It all went a bit quiet. A month later, I got a new final account. "you owe us £200+, pay up". Ever since then, I've been trying to get an explanation or justification for this sudden 'discovery' of £400+ in energy charges. All I get is "you owe us, pay up". I've had bullying from GreenStar. I've had bullying from a debt recovery company called Zinc. I explained things to Zinc, and suddenly, they weren't instructed by GreenStar anymore! It then went to Moriarty Law. Who at least sent me a passive-aggressive bullying letter in civil terms. I explained it to Moriarty Law, who replied "we are no longer instructed in this matter". And now, I get a (more straightforwardly) bullying letter from a mob called Pastduecredit.co.uk. So like I've said from the start, GreenStar. Sue me. Please. I want my day in court. I want you to explain to the judge just which sofa cushion you found these charges down the back of, and convince him/her to issue a money judgement in your favour. Because when he/she doesn't, and sends you away with a flea in your ear, I am going to make an application for costs. The amount of time I've spent on this over the last 2 year's at minimum wage must add up to about £300. Oh, and I want the original £200+ you owe me as well, you shysters.

Cowboy Company!

My mother died two years ago and her account with them was settled some nine months after when her house was sold. This August (2020) they sent letters to her at her solicitor’s address demanding payment for the bills which had already been paid. The solicitor has sent them copies of the final bill produced last year and proof of payment but still they send threatening emails, addressed to my dead mother, demanding different amounts!!

I agreed to transfer to green star with a payment of £134 for 12mths for gas and electric. They didn't transfer my gas and so Green star charged me £121 for electric and scottish power charged me £90. I am a pensioner and want to enjoy my retirement. It took 15 months for Greenstar to resolve this problem in January 2020.they gave a good will payment of £350 and I paid the balance.
In April they put my payment up to£265. I rang and they said my account was over drawn by £109 I paid it and looked for another suplier.
When I transfered to a new company two weeks later they suddenly invent a charge back dating till Nov19
I now owe £481! And been threatened with a collection agency
There was not a single responce to my original complaint just a letter from a collection agency
That says it all

I am exausted ringing them emailing
