After facing some difficulties at work and looking to gain some legal advice, I contacted Monaco Solicitors. I spoke with Paul Young and he felt that I had a good case. I was regularly kept up to date and if needed, a telephone call was offered should I need to discuss things further to ensure my understanding.

After a lot of hard work from Paul, I received settlements for two claims. I actually referred another person who faced similar issues to myself, who I believe also recieved a settlement.

I looked up Monaco before starting the process (their Access to Justice service), and the only reviews that listed this were negative. I proceeded anyway given their overall positive rating, but it is now clear why this is the case.
The Monaco team were very quick as responding to the initial request and requesting payment for the service, but this was as proactive as the process got. Once paid and questions have been submit online, an AI-Generated letter is produced that the Monaco team will then review and send as required. In this initial instance I waited two weeks from payment being made before the team reviewed my letter - this is in despite of E-mail follow-ups and phone calls being made. None of the team replied.

When the letter was eventually sent, there were no follow-ups thereafter (even after the time duration stated in the letter for a response had expired). This again needed further chasing on my part for Monaco to simply request an update from the recipient of the letter.

At this point I asked Monaco to cease with my case as there was no proactive steps being taken, and I did not at any time receive any follow-ups to my E-Mail or phone call requests. I subsequently moved to a different firm as I needed actions taken that were simply not being delivered.

I then enquired to Monaco about a refund of the substantial fee paid. I finally received a response, but this was to say that no refund would be given. I have paid near £500 for an AI-generated letter, and one follow-up.

Having requested further actions to resolve this from Monaco now over 1 week ago, I have yet to receive any further reply.

Whilst the Trustpilot reviews do suggest that Monaco are good firm, and this may be the case for their main legal service offering, I have not had any positive experience, proactive, or indeed any noteworthy action from the Access to Justice service, with a refund (or partial, as I have said I am happy to negotiate on this) being ignored.

Please do not be lured in by the fast response and promise of service delivery regarding Access to Justice, as this simply isn't the case.

Really clear advice and always got back to you quickly.

Shockingly poor experience. I contacted Monaco Solicitors for help with a dispute over unpaid notice from my former employer. Based on their excellent initial responsiveness and glowing reviews, I felt confident moving forward. But after paying, the service dropped off a cliff.

I spent hours compiling information for them, only to have an AI-generated letter sent to my employer (over a week after they processed the initial AI draft)—with no meaningful edits and no solicitor’s signature. I wasn’t even told who was handling my case until I found out myself through their AI chatbot.

I then heard nothing for weeks despite chasing by phone and email. Incredibly, I later found out—via the AI bot—that my employer had responded over a week earlier, and no one had told me. After I threatened to escalate to the Legal Ombudsman, I finally got a reply. The solicitor assured me they’d follow up with the employer by phone to try to negotiate a better offer. That never happened. Instead, they simply rejected the offer by email—without my approval or any attempt at negotiation.

When I questioned this, the solicitor then had the audacity to suggest it probably wasn’t worth pursuing any further “due to the value of the case and the prospects of success”—something that was never mentioned before they took my money or encouraged me to reject the offer.

I raised a complaint and they did eventually refund me in full, but the process dragged out my case and made it far more stressful—the exact opposite of what you’d expect when hiring legal support. Avoid.
