Won't buy a subscription again

1. Paid for access to a DJ's mixes for one month.

2. Decided to cancel about a week into the month.

3. Mixcloud blocked the access for the remainder of the rest of the month, despite me paying for the month already.

4. Also when signing up for a subcription, it says "subscribe for £5", then they add vat to it at the checkout stage. Granted I didn't have to accept it, but I still thought it was sketchy.

5. Conclusion, don't bother paying for a subscription on mixcloud.

Reply to mixcloud: But you don't refund for the rest of the paid month, you keep the money despite not providing the remainder of the month that has already been paid for. No music subscription service I have ever used has done this.

Sorry to see this feedback about channel subscriptions.

To clarify on your points, the immediate removal of access to Exclusives and Downloads when you cancel a channel subscription is due to licensing that means we are unable to support such access for non-subscribing listeners.

Regarding the VAT on your subscription, note that this occurs when you haven't previously entered card details on the site. As we cannot guarantee that you're in a certain territory until after you have entered card details, all prices are shown ex-VAT to ensure that you don't see a price with say 12% VAT and then put your card details for a different territory and the price changes with 20% VAT instead.

Been with mixcloud for years but…

Been with mixcloud for years but recently i've noticed my uploads kept stalling. After a frustrating 2 hours of trying to upload a 1 hour mix which should've taken 10 minutes, i have had enough and gave up. The uploads would get to 70-80 percent then freeze. Not a problem uploading anywhere else, only Mixcloud. Was a premium member but now have deleted my account and will be going elsewhere from now on. Gave up after 2 hours trying to upload a 1 hour mix unsucessfully.

Mixcloud is Just A Joke

Been with Mixcloud since I can remember, last 2 years problem with the Android App, they kept on Blaming my equipment, so when Upgraded my phon efrom S21 Ultra to S22 Galaxy Ultra same thing now two Android phones behaving the same with app crashing, finaly AFTER 2 YEARS they admit they found an issue with the FB API on android causing their app to crash all the time so for two years they been telling me its my equipment when in fact they just too damn lazy to investigate in the first place, now this week first time in 5 years I gone Live streaming on Mixcloud and my god, lowest frame rate, lowest resolution no moving images just my flyer, and 545 frames dropped and l;isteners complaining drop outs, 100MB up 100 MB down 2 X internet connections, other one is 80- down 80 upo both Ether to the cabinet business lines that I pay a fortune for, no issues streaming direct to my Radio Station or any other platform including two clubs world wide, one in Tel Eviv israel from London other USA Miami, never had an issue with them but through Mixcloud its really SH T framnes dropping all over the place... enoughs enough Mixcloud are clearly taking the P*SS... Subscription getting cancelled as soon as Soundcloud built up. I am done with this tin for pot platform that they charge the money for the worst service I have ever had the displeasure to use EVER..

Sorry to see that you've been having these problems. I can see that this is a couple of different problems so will address them in turn:
- the bugs found in the Android app come from a variety of causes. We continue to work on fixes for them and one of these fixes was to the FB API. This was fixed shortly after discovery but was not a fix for all bug reports with the app, as explained in our correspondence in January. We have recently released a host of fixes to a variety of bugs in the app and continue to do so

- the problems with Live can also be for a variety of different reasons, from bad connections on your side to server errors on ours. In order to sort which it is and fix this I'd recommend sending through information about your stream to our Support team including times of stream so we can look into this.

Used to be great but getting unusable now

Been with them for several years but their greed is going to kill them off

In 2019 - they invited people to subscribe which is pointless. We used to share for free - the old way is much better.

Then in 2022, they ask people to upgrade and pay to keep their shows up and have other benefits. I take the reduced trial for a small amount each month for 3 months.

January 2023 - I notice shows are locked, including my own. I paid to keep them showing.

I have cancelled my subscription - it goes up in February anyway but why pay to lose access to your shows

RIP Mixcloud - it was good while it lasted

As explained in our post last year (https://www.mixcloud.com/mixcloud/posts/why-were-making-changes-to-the-basic-tier/), as we continue to rapidly grow our royalty and hosting costs have risen and we are not profitable. To continue running and improving Mixcloud we need to become more sustainable as a business and Pro memberships help us cover our costs. Without these changes there would be no Mixcloud to host all of your shows without concerns about copyright and with the artists whose tracks you play getting paid.

The update to the platform in the last week is in fact connected to our legal obligations to ensure that we are compliant with SRPC regulations. While this has been a part of our Terms of Use for many years, we have recently found there were some shows that did not have the correct restrictions enforced and so moved to correct this. These changes are all made with the aim of ensuring that our platform, built to be a legal way of sharing shows and tracks, continues.

Dated platform with customer service to match

They used to be relevant but nowadays just a company who capture your payment details and hope you forget to cancel. Even Amazon are prepared to bend the rules when it comes to customer service but not Mixcloud. They're a dated platform as well, especially for live streaming. With so many other options available, they have 'lost it' I'm afraid.

In reply to Mixcloud's response; I previously had a full refund for over a year's worth of Amazon Prime, purely because I had not used it. Mixcloud however are not prepared to even refund one month. I continue to spend money with Amazon while I will never give Mixcloud another penny. Who has the best customer service model?

Also, it's not just the lack of any flexibility with their terms and conditions and they have completely glossed over my comments regarding the state of their platform. It has nowhere near the same functionality and usability as other providers and they have the cheek to charge upfront for it!

As with all subscription services, we do not tend to refund in cases where someone has forgotten to cancel their subscription. While in certain circumstances we will 'bend the rules' on this, reasons were not found to do this in your case.

I really enjoyed Mixcloud originally, but...

I really enjoyed Mixcloud originally and have done so for years and years, great sets, great community, amazing DJs...the App on iPhone was and still is glitchy and a pit pants...but overall it WAS sweet.

Now they've introduced the 10 shows limit I'm in two minds on whether to stay or not...got a nice little following of just over 1K and about 97 mixes on there, but the cost of Pro is simply too high, always was, but even more so now considering the current economic climate...such a shame they've decided to chase cash over community. £9 a month is just way too much...perhaps £3-£5 a month and I'd say yeah...but it's even more than I pay for the kids Disney+ or Netflix and they provide an awful lot more than Mixcloud does as a service :(

Wow Mixcloud has died, avoid if you are a nobody.

Wow, this service is an absolute waste of time. The term mix is now pointless as they clearly no longer allow mixes. Deleting work, where i supported them over 10 years ago. Its just not worth paying or visiting anymore.

You can continue to upload up to 80 hours of content to Mixcloud for free, a major increase on other platforms, while knowing that the copyright and royalties are covered.

It's a real shame it's now so expensive…

It's a real shame it's now so expensive to use.
I think many users are leaving Mixcloud.
The only other alt site I have found is now Telegram.
you have 10 folders but can upload up to 2 GB.
it even plays back music too.

I am cancelling the pro

I am cancelling the pro. I am tired of them restarting my broadcast after I build up my views. Everytime I build my views my broadcast goes down and restart only on Mixcloud. I am streaming on 8 different platforms via obs and restream and I always notice when the Mixcloud restart my Twitch, YouTube, Facebook and other platforms are not interupted.. only Mixcloud restart and stall repeatedly and clear my views. I am cancelling it.

Regarding uploading via the app, this is not something we have committed to building as uploading from desktop has been proven as a better feature for the long form audio uploaded by the majority of our community.

Mixcloud is cool

I recently downloaded this app as I saw that one of my favourite youtuber uploads his mixes there. I've had a smooth experience, the sound quality is great, no ads. I will definitely continue using this app.

40 pound wasted

Well they charged me 40 pound for trying out the website on the demo, I asked politley for a refund as I didnt use it and didnt realise I was being charged. I understand its my fault for not cancelling after the demo but I did not use it after at all, and was logged out for several months, and this goes to show that the company doesnt care as long as they have your money, when I told them I was struggling to pay bills and a fulltime NHS worker they said it was policy not to refund.

Wont be using them again.

Edit: no most places offer refunds at a time of crisis, in fact your the only one that didn't and that says it all.

To clarify, you had a 30 day free trial of our Pro subscription. Having not cancelled the subscription before the end of the trial period you were then charged the subscription price of £9 per month for the additional months you had the subscription before cancelling.

Like with the vast majority of subscription services, our policies state that we do not offer refunds in cases where someone has not used the subscription they are paying for. I'm sorry that this was disappointing for you.

MixCloud buffering...

I am a broadcaster on MixCloud, before the pandemic I signed up to this platform on recommendation from a friend. Debated at the time whether or not to go with Twitch and still debating. What drew me to MixCloud was that I would be able to stay legal. However, I seen creators following grow substancially more 50 to 100 fold in some cases if not more.
Lately when I broadcast, and I like to record 4hr sets, after the 3hr, all of a sudden the platform starts to buffer. Doesn't matter what setting I have it on from my computer either. I have checked this from my mobile device also. It is very annoying when you get to 3hrs and you are happy with your work and want to publish it for people to listen to and it is spoilt buy this. What used to happen if their was buffering, the audio would record and the MixCloud server un interrupted, looks like they have changed this feature, as now if the video buffers you know you are going to get a duff recording.
It is a great concept MixCloud, would even pay double for the service as long as it WORKS? Is is literally like a lottery, I used to love and look forward to broadcasting. Everytime it messes up, which is weekly all it does is disappoint.
And just incase you are wondering, I use a MacBook Pro 2017 with losts of umph and 340Mbps of download and 36Mbps upload... Plenty

Mixcloud is really poor

Mixcloud is really poor. it's very limited amd clunky. I've paid the subscription to be able to download music for a long roadtrip but you can only download "into" Mixcloud not to your device, and so you must be online to start listening to it. Rubbish! No point in that! Cancelling subscription. Or tell me I'm wrong Mixcloud.

When subscribed to a creator you will be able to download shows to the app to listen to offline. You shouldn't need to have any signal to listen to offline so if you are finding this is a problem please let our Support Team know at support@mixcloud.com.
Regarding why you can only download to the app and not to your device, this is due to the licensing regulations that we adhere to in order to ensure that Mixcloud stays legal and fair.
