Terrible experience, we waited up to 3 hours before we could collect our camper because they were "checking tire pressure", it turned out they were actually trying to repair a broken battery + fridge which I only found out as I walked around the building to see a mechanic clearly repairing the vehicle, I should have known I was in for a bad experience when the representatives blatantly lied to my face upon arrival.
After this 3 hour wait we are then sent away in a fault vehicle (which we have been assured is 100% repaired). 24 hours later our fridge is broken, all of our food is wasted and we had to eat out for the remainder of our trip and can't enjoy and actual camping experience, we've essentially just rented a regular van.
Absolutely disgraceful, complete negligence on the company for knowingly sending us away in faulty vehicle.

The van was fine, did the job, could do with a diesel heater though. However the pick up process was appalling, took us 2 and a half hours. The booking system and staffing need to be addressed. You can’t let everyone book a van to pick up at the same then not put the staff on to meet demand. If we had of been told when we got there it was a least a 2 hour wait we would have gone and done something else but instead just kept getting told not to much longer.
THL you need to stagger your pick up times in busy periods.

It was the first time we had ever hired, driven or stayed in a campervan, we knew what to expect and we weren't disappointed. The process of hiring the vehicle before our holiday was easy, the communication from Mighty Campers was great. Lots of useful information, a pre arrival video, clear directions to the hire place and very straight forward when we arrived. The show through of the van was thorough before we left. Returning the campervan was also an easy process

The camper was not the one we booked..
Despite charging it overnight and then driving to the camp ground and having a solar panel the battery was so flat it would not work the internal lights.
On reporting this on return there was no offer of a refund.
The staff themselves were very helpful.

The mighty van was so faulty, there was problems with the handbreak, if felt very old inside too and there was also trouble with the heat. We sorted all of this out with the company that we rented from and luckily got to change to a maui van - otherwise our whole trip would have been ruined as we also got a complete flat tire - not because we drove over something sharp - but because the tires were so old that they exploded.
The car was way too old for it to feel safe for somebody to drive it around. It was dangerous.

The first experience we had with Mighty Campers was fantastic, we decided to book with them again for our 30 year wedding anniversary. Unfortunately, this experience was far from being enjoyable. The camper that was handed to us, was not what we booked and paid for. It had major issues. We were unable to use the shower because of the water problems, after a few boils of the kettle on the gas stove, the bottle was empty. The campervan hadn't been cleaned. The grey water tank had a blockage, that was coming up through the sink. It seemed like this campervan slipped through the system for being checked, cleaned etc before being hired out again. We had to take time out of our holiday to drive back to Christchurch to get the many issues fixed. That was a complete waste of time, we later discovered, nothing was fixed. We had no hot water from the first day we got the campervan, still no hot water. We were constantly making phone calls asking to have these problems fixed. One comment from roadside assistance was "It drives ok doesn't it" Seriously, if we just wanted something to drive around in we wouldn't have paid for a campervan that had a toilet & shower on board, we would've just hired a car. We had to take the campervan to another place to get the hot water system checked. The assessment was "It isn't fit for putpose" eventually, by the end of the first week they decided to swap out the campervan. By this time our holiday was nearly over, our anniversary was ruined. It was difficult trying to enjoy the remaining days we had in NZ. Once we got back to the Christchurch depot, we had a discussion with them, we were given a partial refund. That was appreciated, however, it would have been a lot better had there been no reason to have to give a partial refund.
