Mercedes-Benz is no longer a premium brand – just a premium scam.”
I am extremely disappointed with my recent experience with Mercedes-Benz. The brand no longer represents the fairness or integrity that once made it special. I was misled regarding the valuation of my vehicle and treated with no respect or accountability. Within a short time, its value dropped drastically, and Mercedes-Benz simply responded: “that’s the market value.” No goodwill gesture, no transparency, no integrity.
Mercedes-Benz dealerships now operate like franchises, no longer following the high standards people expect from the brand. Paying a premium price no longer guarantees investment value — and I regret trusting the name.
For the sake of fairness and honesty, I believe every customer should see feedback like this before buying or selling through Mercedes-Benz. Don’t let the brand name blind you — always check independent valuations and reviews first.
Mercedes Benz UK & Lookers are a disgrace!
On March 30th 2023, I purchased a new Mercedes SL43 premium plus convertible for £125,000—a dream come true.
A few months later, I messaged the salesperson, but he ignored my messages.
Gradually, multiple faults began accumulating, including some potentially fatal defects. As such, the vehicle's price plummeted by an unprecedented 50% in only nine months!
Manufacturing faults include:
• engine failure
• faulty wiring
• battery draining
• unstable handling
• fuel tank leaking
• doors not locking
• problems with the digital interface
• unsafe auto-safety features.
For over two years, I reported these faults to the Lookers dealership, Mercedes-Benz UK complaints department, customer service, and even the CEO’s office—a total of 22 people. Still, nobody took it seriously.
I’d only been back in the country for one month after 15 years overseas, and I had little knowledge of car recalls; they are unheard of in Asia. Thus, I didn’t think to check online, assuming the dealer or Mercedes would disclose any potential fatal information after I reported faults. Unfortunately, not. All parties either concealed, ignored, or deceived me.
Finally, a few weeks ago, I learned my car had eight outstanding recalls! Some defects, such as the faulty fuel pump, dated back to within six months of purchase, when I should have legally received a replacement or a full refund.
The Lookers dealership in Tonbridge even performed a service and failed to admit any problems. Instead of informing me of the long list of recalls, they attempted to fix them secretly without my approval or awareness. Not only this, but they provided me with a service history that said everything was fine. The service centre lady even implied that I imagined these issues or misused the car.
So, for another six months, I was left questioning my sanity and driving ability, almost like a collective corporate gaslighting, if such a thing exists.
Now, I’ve engaged a lawyer as this two-year nightmare has cost me a lot of money, time and emotional stress, plus my beloved death-trap has remained parked in my garage for many months, unusable. Unsafe. Unconscionable!
To date, Lookers Brighton, from which I purchased the vehicle, has not contacted me.
Appalling
Having bought my CLA T Bradford and then being told that the branch had closed. I had to take the car to Huddersfield (5times the distance).
I took my car to Huddersfield for a minor repair on 20 March and booked the car in for service for 30th June.
I was told that the car would be collected from home and redilivered back after the service.
I tried to confirm these details today but it was impossible. One person answered my call but gave me wrong information as to how to contact Mercedes.
I have had many Mercedes over the years but since the Bradford branch closed the service I have had is appalling.
When I bought the car I took out a full service plan but didn’t expect this type of service from such a reputable name as Mercedes. Hoping someone can help put this right
Never buy MB from Pappas.hu and never buy MB! They dont care any customers!
The MB dealer in Budapest Pappas is trying to sell us a damaged V-Class for the price of a new one. Neither the MB office nor Pappas have been interested in us since March. They have taken the deposit and are not bothering to respond. The worst customer service issue we have ever experienced is unbelievable. The vehicles may be good but the customer attention is zero. All the advertising is empty. We regret trying to buy an MB V-Class. Never buy a car from Pappas, they will make you pay for it!
C class 2009 model c220 w204
Nice car to drive, but problems never stop.
Major parts need replacing from 80 000 km.
I am 70 years old motor mechanic and had many cars in my life.
This car has been by far the most unreliable car i have come across.
Take note ! Mercedes will drain your savings and you will be very unhappy.
Poor Services Mercedes Benz
Poor services , staff skills , none professional approach , nobody responsible for work in Nederland. Image of the brand goes down rapidly because of above mentioned
MERCEDES CON OR UNPROFESSIONAL?????
When you take a car to a mechanics or car manufactures do people normally get separate prices for diagnostics, labour and parts? and if u do is it common knowledge or do they have to tell you themselves to make you aware because according to Mercedes in Plymouth we are supposed to know that there is a separate price for each department.... And we were expected to wait to get a call from each of the different departments for separate prices and these departments don't communicate with each other.
We took our car to them for repair.
initially the car had tones of problems and obviously not knowing much about cars, we didn't understand most of it. So we took it to Mercedes in plymouth to fix all the problems for us, and they quoted about £2k just for diagnostics, we thought it was a bit much, but we went ahead and paid for it, after the diagnostics, they told us everything that we assumed was wrong with the car. Then they charged about 3k for the parts and labour, which we also agreed on. When we turned up to pick up the car, they said there was almost 2k more to pay, we completely disagreed as it wasn't initially mentioned to us. After a long disagreement and argument, we gave in and paid.
Brought the car home, after about a month took the car for a drive on the motorway, and we only then realised the cars engine keeps overheating and could drive over 30 mph.
Keep in mind that we asked Mercedes initially to fix EVERYTHING that was wrong with the car. Keep in mind that we paid like 2k for the diagnostics. Now Mercedes is saying that even though the car has 2 years warranty from their initial repair it doesn't cover the current problem as they didn't fix that. So what was my 2k diagnostics for?
Anyway again after a bit of resistance and angry words over the phone we painfully agreed to pay for what ever they were asking for, the lady we spoke to said EVERYTHING including the part and labour, will be £270 I said fine go ahead and repair it and we will pay for it.
About a day later we get a call saying the work is done and is gonna cost £400 and something Can somebody make sense of this for us please????
poor service unbelievable
Bromley Mercedes benz – Unresolved AC Issue, Poor Service, and Misleading Conduct
Dear Mercedes-Benz Bromley Management,
I am writing to file a formal complaint regarding the appalling service I’ve received from your branch in the past few weeks. What I expected was professional care for my vehicle under warranty — what I received was dishonesty, poor communication, and a complete lack of responsibility.
I initially brought my car in to fix an air conditioning issue. Instead of properly diagnosing and resolving the problem, your team chose to go for a quick, cheap fix by replacing the AC sensor — something that clearly wasn’t the issue. I was then told the work was pending authorisation from the factory and that I’d receive a follow-up call. That never happened, and it’s now clear to me that this was a lie.
Even though my vehicle is under warranty and should have been repaired free of charge, it seems your staff deliberately avoided doing the necessary job — possibly replacing the radiator — simply because they didn’t want to do the work. On top of that, my car was kept for three days, with nothing fixed, and returned to me with scratches — twice.
This poor service cost me more than just time. As a result of being without my car for three days, I lost income and ended up in overdraft. I rely on my vehicle for work and daily responsibilities — this level of negligence directly impacted my livelihood.
To add to my frustration, I was quoted £950 last month for a broken charging socket, with an exaggerated explanation involving repainting and sensor work. I took the car to a regular garage instead, and they fixed it for £150. This experience made it clear to me that your store is taking advantage of customers and massively overcharging for basic repairs.
Furthermore, your reception staff were dismissive and disengaged, making the entire experience even more unpleasant.
This is not the level of service expected from a premium brand. It felt more like dealing with a budget repair shop than a Mercedes-Benz dealership. I’m extremely disappointed and expect this complaint to be taken seriously.
I will escalate this matter to Mercedes-Benz UK and share my experience publicly to warn others.
Training required
Not impressed with agent Maria who called me a man more than 4 times and thinks she is above customers, would not get me roadside assistance and help yet I have cover for it. She left me very stressed unhappy. She is not a good fit for your brand. I have been with Mercedes over 13 years, different cars. This is not what I expected. 😡😡. Wanted me to pay for something I didn’t not need to pay for.
MB Netherlands and their dealership ASV…
MB Netherlands and their dealership ASV treat the customer with arrogance and contempt, they fail to explain processes, they are rude, you never get the same person twice. The entire experience has put me off ever getting near a Mercedes ever again,
A rubbish car
A rubbish car. Bought a brand new EQE 350 and sun roof was broken, would not close. Took it back to Mercedes where they claimed to have fixed it. In the time it took me to go back to Mercedes to pick it up it then showed a completely new error about the steering.. Mercedes claim they knew nothing about this and it ironically happened in the 1 minute drive to pick-up area. They have no idea. These cars are rubbish, do not buy them
Im a fan of mercedes since my…
Im a fan of mercedes since my childhood. One of my relatives used to own one and that was the moment i fell in love with this brand. They are still great, but the prices are way too high for new cars
Great Cars, Hate the Subscriptions
We've owned a few and they make very solid cars that are safe, reliable and have strong performance. The only reason I am not giving it full stars is cause they are getting into the subscription bull crap. Our 140k suv should not have a subscription for a car starter that is already built in. We would have paid it off by now if we could install it ourselves, but instead we have to pay monthly for life just to use it.
The Mercedes Chichester Warranty is…
The Mercedes Chichester Warranty is only handy if you run out of toilet paper.
I bought a non-franchise car from Mercedes Chichester and they were all smiles when selling me the car. What they didn't tell me that when things go wrong you have to pay £199 just to investigate before any warranty work is done. Garages in the vain of Arthur Dailey find the problem and sort it without scams. Is it because I didn't buy all the unnecessary extras when I purchased the car they are trying to get more money out of me. When I purchase a car with a warranty my expectations are what I was told at the time of purchase. I CAN HAVE A YEAR OF WORRY AND HASTLE FREE DRIVNG. They never told me about the extra charges!
I would AVOID this company and any of their associate dealerships. In my opinion they are dishonest, untrustworthy and don't give a damn about their customers once they have driven off the premises.
I am also going to the media as I believe they are scammers!
EQS qualityproblems and bad customer service
Have bougt new EQS, problems with charging hatch and humidity in lights. Both guarantee fix, but handler in Norway uses a lot of time in handling this, must drive back and forth several times, waiting for hours each time. Mercedes qualty and luxury? Not so any more. Quality problems and bad customer service. Volvo handler BILIA fixed similar issue in just one hour, with Mercedes it takes 2-4 hours 3 times.
DO NOT BUY FROM MERCEDES-BENZ BERWICK
DO NOT BUY FROM MERCEDES-BENZ BERWICK – MERCEDES-BENZ AUSTRALIA LETS THIS HAPPEN!
If I could give this dealership zero stars, I would. My experience with Mercedes-Benz Berwick has been an absolute disaster, but what’s even worse is how Mercedes-Benz Australia has allowed this situation to drag on without resolution.
In December 2024, I purchased a Mercedes-Benz C63 SE from this dealership. I bought a model that has so many complaints that are known —one of the many bad decisions that Mercedes-Benz Australia seems to have no problem with. Within 24 hours of driving it off the lot, the car started displaying multiple faults—lane assist, cruise control, and other electronic issues.
When I reported these problems, I was met with dismissive responses from the service department. Aaron, in particular, downplayed the issues and made empty promises about getting them fixed. After multiple visits, supposed software upgrades, and a car that spent more time in the shop than on the road, nothing improved. Even Aaron himself admitted the car had been back at least four times for the same unresolved issues.
The real problem? Mercedes-Benz Australia allows dealerships like Berwick to get away with this kind of behavior. Despite the sheer lack of professionalism, honesty, and accountability from their staff, Mercedes-Benz Australia has done absolutely nothing to step in. I repeatedly requested to speak with Craig Howard, the dealership’s General Manager, but he never contacted me—whether due to negligence or intentional avoidance, it’s unacceptable.
The lies continued. Salesperson Roland Davis claimed that Liam had tried calling and texting me—yet I had ZERO missed calls or messages. When I asked for proof, there was none.
On February 11th, I finally received a call from Anthony, who assured me that my case would be escalated to Mercedes-Benz Australia and that I’d receive a response within a week. Guess what? No response. Just another false promise. Mercedes-Benz Australia had the chance to step in and do the right thing, yet they have chosen to ignore a loyal customer being scammed by their dealership.
I have made it clear that I will not accept this lemon of a vehicle back. I demanded either a full refund or a replacement, yet both Mercedes-Benz Berwick and Mercedes-Benz Australia continue to dodge accountability. I am currently paying $2,800 per month for a car that is unreliable and unsafe, and neither the dealership nor the manufacturer seems to care.
Mercedes-Benz Australia, this is on you. Your failure to hold dealerships accountable is disgraceful. Your brand’s reputation is crumbling because you allow situations like this to happen.
Craig Howard, if you’re reading this, your leadership is a joke. And to Mercedes-Benz Australia: Your silence speaks volumes. You’ve lost a customer for life.
For anyone considering buying from Mercedes-Benz Berwick—or Mercedes-Benz Australia in general—DON’T. The service is abysmal, the staff are dishonest, and once they have your money, they will do everything they can to avoid responsibility. Take your business elsewhere.
P.S. I will not stop escalating this issue until it is resolved.
P.P.S Since I wrote the above, MBA has declined to do anything about the car and claim it all falls under the warranty banner
Absolutely disgraceful.
Mercedes Vans Exeter - AVOID
Well I thought I bought a nice van from Mercedes Vans Exeter, nothing could be further from the truth. I strongly advise you DO NOT buy any vehicle from here.
Let me list the issues I’ve had with my van. Van was only one year old on purchase. Please consider I have still only driven less than 3000 miles since purchase….
Tailgate is off centre (much more than accepted tolerance that I was told)
Faulty overhead control panel needed replacing (was sold van with this faulty)
Driven side wing mirror plastic part had fallen off and fixed by Mercedes
Cushion needed fixing on passenger side (was sold van with this fault)
Rubber seal needed replacing on tailgate (was sold van with this fault)
Faulty sensors developed (seemed to be most drivers side) supposedly fixed but seems the problem has surfaced again
Brakes squeaky from purchase, when looked at by Mercedes garage brakes defined as requiring URGENT ATTENTION. Made to sign a disclaimer to drive van home without them being replaced. Only 2000 miles driven from purchase UNBELIEVABLE
Two faulty locks, which have now been replaced by Mercedes Exeter
Camera does not retract at rear. Have been waiting for months to find out what’s going on, they have tried to replace but failed. Twice I’ve asked and they never get back to me
Faulty sensors again have resurfaced today
Brakes now squeaking again
Horrendous experience with Mercedes throughout, I once thought Mercedes was a reputable company, how wrong was I.
To Review or NOT to Review?
Marshall Mercedes Benz UK - To Review or Not to Review?
Many people only dream of owning a Mercedes Benz. It is a brand name which provides luxury, reliability and excellence. My dream came true On 18 Dec 2024 when I purchased a used A180 sport executive from Marshall Mercedes. It had 17,000 miles on the clock. Less than a month later on 13 Jan 2025, the drivers display head unit control panel went blank. I took the car straight to the dealership and was provided with a replacement vehicle while my own car was repaired. I got my car back on 17 Jan 2025. My Mercedes experience then took a very different turn to what I expected. It raised a number of questions which I consider Mercedes needs to address:
Is it standard practice across the 144 Marshall Franchise dealerships in the UK?
• That the customer has to request a repair invoice document after none was provided?
• That when a repair invoice was eventually provided, it showed the incorrect VRN and incorrect date of repair?
• When the customer asks for this to be corrected and re-issued they are told “It is not possible” - a second invoice was produced 4 days later which still showed the incorrect VRN.
• When the customer then complains to the dealership they are ignored?
• Is it standard practice for the Area Manager to ignore a customer’s offer, to provide him with “honest customer feedback” and information that may prevent damage to the Mercedes brand name and reputation? – Had he accepted my offer, I would not need to publish this post!
• When the customer follows the Marshall Complaints procedure to the UK head office, they receive 2 “automated” replies which clearly show that they did not investigate the complaint? (see case reference 12268670)
• Is it standard practice that Dealer Products are offered without a clear explanation of what they entail?
• Is it standard practice that sales staff are not aware of even the first of the Marshall Mercedes six ‘pillars’ of service - Get the basics right, and the rest will follow?
• Is it standard practice to ask customers NOT to complete a customer survey if they cannot award a score of 5/5?
All that I asked for was a repair invoice/document showing my correct VRN and date of repairs. To be told that this was not possible is not what I expected from Mercedes Benz.
Since I lodged my complaint to Marshall Mercedes, I have had no contact at all from the dealership.
Get the basics right, and the rest will follow
I took my car to Mercedes in Epsom in…
I took my car to Mercedes in Epsom in December 2024 regarding a battery drain problem. Instead of diagnosing the issues causing the battery to drain and paying them to do this. They reply by saying the battery is faulty. 3 batteries in 30 months tells me it’s not the battery. When you put this to them they treat you like an idiot and brush off your concern. The service is terrible. You are made to wait. They do not respond on their text message service I will never buy a new Mercedes ever again. Forums suggest this is common problem. I’m totally disgusted with them
