I am now a customer and advocate of Masterdriver indefinitely!
John, Brian and the whole team at Masterdriver have re-instilled my confidence of buying a car through a local trader. John is a very kind and compassionate man who takes the time to really build a rapport with his customers, at no point did I feel John’s priority was to make a sale. He put my safety and the knowledge that he was providing a quality vehicle first.
I had original sourced a car through another trader that went on to fail an MOT 3 days after purchase. I couldn’t trust that the trader would fix the car to a standard I was happy with, so decided to buy a car else where. John was recommended to me, after I had explained my situation not only did he find me a beautiful mini but also supported me through the dispute with the previous trader! It wasn’t expected nor necessary as I would have bought the car based on the quality alone (they do rigorous checks on vehicle before sale) but it was thoughtful and very helpful. Thank you all so so much.

Sold to MasterDriver!
Just sold our mini cooper 5 door to John of Masterdriver and couldn't have been easier or fairer. Gave us a great price too that was way better than the original dealer offered and also better than a site that's regularly advertised on TV. Totally transparent and professional but friendly, the deal was quickly agreed and payment made to us on the spot. If you are selling a much loved one owner mini, do include these guys when searching for the best price

Had a great experience with these guys when buying my mini clubman. Easy to communicate with and nothing was too much trouble. Car came with a new MOT, service and when they noticed a car mat missing they even gave me a brand new set to replace! Steve and John were both very friendly, not too salesy and actually made buying a car an easy pain free experience. Thanks guys 👍

Lovely experience here
Lovely experience here. Lovely feel to this garage. I didnt choose here based on reviews I chose here based on the feel when I found the car online I was looking for. Patient service and no pressure. Very understanding sales men. I feel its justified to give this garage the credit it deserves. John and Steve and Alex I think I dealt with over the 2 weeks and all were lovely. (If I've missed anyone out sorry)
I feel there prices are also fair. Thank you for your service and see you again in August for my MOT (once I book) :-)

Sold us a mini cooper automatic with a list of faults/issues
January 2018:
A reply was recently received by Masterdriver in respect of a review which was left nearly 5 years ago.
Our reply::
We have some understanding of their opinion of the Mini Cooper S they sold to us and respectfully have their own right to give their side of the story. However, the findings were left because they are true. True, Masterdriver have some good reviews, however we are not the only ones that unfortunately have had poor inexperience and therefore have given poor reviews
Our other reviews left for other companies have no involvement or bearing on the review left for Masterdriver. We have no need as Masterdriver mentions in their reply to 'bad mouth anyone.' Neither do we give or say untruths. Had Masterdriver sold us a quality used car then they would have received satisfied customers that would have left at least a 4 - 5 star review.
February 2018:
Masterdriver c/o Mr Cornhill has contacted once again to request us to supply and send all invoices or evidence of work we claim to have had to spend thousands of pounds rectifying faults and also evidence of wrong doings Masterdriver were supposed to have carried out including any correspondence from trading standards and finance house or inspection companies.
Our Reply:
Dear Mr Cornhill,
Good evening.
My Husband and I recall our experience very well Mr Cornhill, despite it being over 5 years. You in fact only dealt with the complaint of the car personally (once the finance company stepped in because we were cold shouldered (i.e. you wouldn’t talk or reply to us). We had the car LESS than 24 hours! Surely, would you agree this is not good customer aftersales service!
The car being found to be faulty once leaving your dealership within minutes after purchasing (and which were addressed by phone and email once my Husband and I arrived home to South Wales from your dealership in Buckinghamshire), went to your answerphone.
We did not expect to encounter issues that we found within minutes on leaving your dealership and heading back to South Wales. We had actually turned back but found your dealership was closed. We then phoned your mobile numbers, found on your business card you gave us, yet no response/answer from either).
We submitted the evidence of faults to you via email as soon as these were confirmed with the garage we took the car to and the findings were also forwarded onto Newport Trades and Standards.
Once you were aware we were in touch with Trades and Standards who advised us of our rights under the Sales of Goods Act, now known as The Consumer Rights Act, you then requested we return the car to you for rectifications and repairs.
We trusted that those rectifications and repairs were going to be carried out and done by you. In regard of the satisfactory acceptance of works, we are not mechanics and were unable to check the car and had to sign a satisfactory acceptance of works carried out by yourselves otherwise as you informed us when we arrived to collect the car, you wouldn’t be able to release the car back to us. It was a Sunday afternoon when we called to collect the car. You are in Buckinghamshire and we are from South Wales, 3 h 8 min (175.4 mi) via M4.
Some of the rectifications and repairs you carried out still saw issues or had not been done when we had the car further inspected the day after we collected the car back from you.
As we received no reply when phoning your dealership or mobile number to address such, we sent a recorded delivery letter but had no further response. We recall our trust was somewhat affected much earlier on, on the afternoon we left your dealership with the car. On finding that some of the rectifications and repairs were not done or still saw issues, our trust as you may imagine was diminished.
In regard of you mentioning on a reply to our review and to quote – ‘no mobile phone numbers were available to call or given out by us at any time.’ You did. We were given a business card with mobile numbers by you and also received the car paperwork that had your landline number on it prior to leaving your dealership.
We part exchanged the car in 2013. All relevant paperwork was with the car for all work carried out including the rectifications with faults and repairs. It's now 2018 and yet since leaving the review, you have only got in very recent contact.
We appreciate you have good reviews and that customers who placed such reviews are pleased with their purchases. We wished to have been pleased with our purchase also and to leave you with a 4 – 5 star review. However, unfortunately and sadly on this occasion, we didn't encounter or experience even an adequate sale/purchase.
Reviews are an evaluation and findings for and on a service, company etc., and are not personal vendettas or done to publicly and wrongly discriminate. You have chosen to see it that way.
We certainly wouldn’t leave a poor review had matters been dealt with in a professional manner and action once these were addressed to you. Phone messages were left on your answerphone, by email, later a recorded delivery letter and by the finance company stepping in for us in order to get you to contact and speak to us.
Despite your good reviews refer to cardealer reviews, a reviewer even mentions, and quote - ‘thinking of small claims court that's how bad they are.’
After 5 years, we feel surprised that you have only contacted now when you could have contacted years earlier. You had full opportunity to treat us fairly and resolve fairly. We feel you are still not taking responsibility on your part and appear to want to discredit our review.
As you say further in your reply, you'd like to ‘Put a lid on this matter for good.’ Though seeming an extreme suggestion, we would even be prepared to have a lie detector test with a professional lie detection company of your own choice on the condition that if it’s found that we are not telling the truth, we will pay for the test and remove the review. But if as we know we are, telling the truth, you are willing to carry the cost of the lie detector and let this truthful review remain.
Regards
