Outstanding Service from Start to Finish!

I had an excellent experience with Loftomatic from start to finish. The team were super helpful with all my questions and queries — nothing was too much trouble, and every response was clear, friendly, and knowledgeable. They made the whole process incredibly easy.
The ordering experience was smooth, and the delivery was fast and efficient. My Loftomattic ladder arrived exactly as expected, and the updates along the way were reassuring. It’s rare to find a company that combines great customer service with reliable delivery, but Loftomattic absolutely delivered on both.
Highly recommend them — fantastic service and a great team!

The loft ladder was very easy to fit I…not much to it just needed to get hight right along with adjustable strap correct.

The loft ladder was very easy to fit I made a lining internally 1m by 600 wide with an 18 mm mdf door with intermittent strip routed Into frame with door stop. Just needed to add some 2x1 batten to the sides of door to stop it taking shape. If the loft hatch width was less you wouldn’t have that option. Great product.

Complete Satisfaction, equipment and Service.

I have had a Loftomattic access ladder for over 2years, I started to have problems with it and requested a service visit.
At the visit it became apparent that using a builder to install the unit had caused the problem.
The service engineer , (Michael), was not phased by this, just went about his checks and re-install in a calm professional way, it was very apparent he was full of knowledge and capabilities were to be admired.
Thanks Michael, thanks Loftomattic, I can highly recommend with confidence.
Great product and Customer Service.

First class service

Had a ladder stuck down. Rang and left message on Sunday explaining it was a problem being Xmas week too. Had call back next morning and Max came out same day, found the problem, overhauled the ladder and left it fully working again. Excellent service and lovely guy, so helpful. Have had the ladder about 4 years and first time we have had a problem. Excellent product, excellent service, best thing we bought .

Definitely worth having; excellent value for money

This automatic ladder is an amazing piece of kit. If you’re a handy DIY person you would manage to fit it, It feels steady and robust in use and the hand rails are a great safety feature. I bought mine in early 2021 - it developed a problem in the Autumn of that year - it was still under warranty and Max travelled up to Scotland to sort it out. It has worked perfectly since then in continuous use until October of this year when it stopped working in the half up/half down position. I did have a bit of a problem getting a reply to my phone calls to customer service but once I eventually managed to speak to Max he arranged the repair. Michael made a six hour journey to my home and sorted it. It was a long journey but the call-out charge was very reasonable. He stripped the whole thing out, serviced every working part and ensured that I knew how to operate the manual override so that if ever it were to jam again I would be able to remove the ladder and close the hatch.
Apart from difficulty in waiting for customer service to get back to me I would definitely recommend the product and both Max and Michael (who is the inventor of this amazing product) provide excellent after sales help and advice. As automatic ladders go it is NOT cost prohibitive compared to others that are so much more expensive. When here Michael and I chatted about the benefit of having clear instructions or a how-to video for the override feature and I hope that’s something we’ll soon see on the website. Would I recommend to others? Without a shadow of a doubt a resounding YES! Thank you M and M 😀

Please read - then you decide

I might have given this product five stars, as the ladder is brilliant (with one reservation, see below). But I had problems, and the customer service was abysmal.
I bought an eight step ladder, but when I came to install it, having got a ladder into the loft, I saw that it was in fact a 10 step ladder. I contacted Max and he told me that I could, if I wanted to, keep the ladder and when extending it, I should just press the stop button when the bottom of the ladder reached the floor. Seeing that I didn’t want to go to the hassle of replacing it I agreed to that. Everything was fine and I was using the ladder on a daily basis until, yes you’ve guessed it, I got distracted and forgot to press the stop button. Without me seeing, the ladder must have continued to extend with the bottom of the ladder travelling across the floor until it reached its maximum angle, but as the electric motor continued to run, it pushed the ladder frame and motor off the bracket and up into the loft. The noise was horrendous, I really thought the ceiling was coming down.
The ladder was broken. It wouldn’t fully retract. I contacted Max and over the next few weeks. I had four appointments made for someone to come out and sort it out, but three were cancelled, and on the last occasion I waited in all day but no one turned up.
Only when I threatened to take further action, did they respond.
Michael came out. He is the designer of the ladder and the boss. He was lovely - the sort of person I would be quite happy to spend an evening in the pub with, talking about how he designed the ladder, and setting up his company. But unfortunately, I don’t think he understood that a product like this needs to have first class customer service. When it goes wrong, it needs to be fixed as quickly as, say, a washing machine. The company is no way geared up to provide any reasonable after sales service. Michael seemed to blame the problem on builders who don’t read the instructions so need a lot of support, and Max (who clearly wants to do a good job) spends too much time on the phone sorting out problems!
A mechanical device like this ladder is bound to go wrong sooner or later. If you’re happy to take the risk that you won’t have any troubles with it, then buy it. It’s great. But at the moment, as soon as it needs any sort of support, you will get very frustrated.
So what is my one reservation? If the ladder breaks down, partly extended you won’t be able to get into your loft. And you may have to wait weeks to get it sorted out. The ladder has been designed so if it doesn’t work at all, the loft hatch can be lowered, but then someone needs to lift the ladder up and into the loft. It weighs 33 kg! But if it breaks down partly extended then you won’t be able to get into your loft at all.
A couple of other interesting facts. The ladder can be programmed (as Michael did when he came to me) to stop at any extended length. If Max had told me that in the beginning, I wouldn’t have had the problems I did. Also when Michael installed the replacement ladder, he split it into two parts. The actual aluminium steps easily come off the frame, meaning that it could be carried up the step ladder in 2 parts reducing the weight that needs to be lifted up into the loft. Why that is not in the instruction booklet I have no idea.
So the choice is yours.

Fantastic Product with Fantastic Support!!

After looking at many options for an electric loft ladder, I came across the Loftomattic and reached out to the company's support team to ask many questions to which I was reassured that it would indeed fit into the loft hatch opening.

I have to say that upon opening the box for fitting several months later, due to building issues it was found that some fittings were unfortunately missing and a call to customer service was quick and simple, Max provided exemplary customer service and promptly sent the missing components (they arrived next day)... how I wish all companies provided Max's level of customer service and he is indeed a great asset to Loftomattic.

Once fitted and setup the Loftomattic product, I have to say is amazing and does EVERYTHING that is promised, it's stable and solid and even our cat has now got used to running up and down to the loft using it.

If you're looking for an electric loft ladder solution at a realistic price that does everything then the Loftomattic is it and I would thoroughly recommend it all day long, however, like every product it needs great support when issues are encountered and I have to say this has that too!!

I look forward to seeing how they improve this product over the next few years... can they make it any better?

Lack of customer support and advice.

When my ladder jammed partially open I got no worth while customer support. Requested advice many times during a three week period and my calls and messages remained un answered. Frustrated, I ordered a new ladder on Monday 21st July and within a couple of days I was messaged that it would be delivered on Thursday 24th July, however I did not know if it was to be installed or if I had to DIY. Ladder was installed as stated but the instruction manual references the old product. Also, there is no information on the remote controller unit and nothing available on your website. To conclude the new product appears to show design improvements, is quieter and hopefully has better reliability. I repeat customer support is almost non existent and I am unlikely to recommend the product to others.

Not a good experience

Unfortunately we have had nothing but problems with our Loftomattic ladder. Whilst some reviewers have had a great experience there are quite a few who have not! The first issue encountered is the motor; used from time to time I’m sure it’s ok however it will cut out after a few open/close cycles which can make adjusting the ladder a long and frustrating process.

Having set the ladder up according to the instructions everything was ok for a while however the ladder then became twisted and could not retract fully as it was misaligned. Others appear to have had this problem and apparently received no assistance from the manufacturer.

I did receive a response which advised that they MAY be able to fix it but wanted £100 to send somebody out. Given that I could not have any confidence in their ability to fix it I stated that I had already wasted a lot of money on the ladder and would not spend a penny more! Nothing further was heard from the company.

My advice would be that before purchasing an electric loft ladder one should contact a couple of installers to see what their experience of different models was and what they would recommend.

Sadly our ladder is being consigned to the skip and replaced with a manual model.

Auto Loft Ladder

So, the ladder itself is an absolute genius piece of technology and for what I wanted it fits the bill perfectly. The ladder has given me the ability to access my loft by utilising 2 remotes, one where I can close behind me and 1 where I can have it opened from below. Only thing I would add to this is it could do with some kid of backup battery it could plug into if there were ever a power cut.
