This company is total scam, they set up a direct debit on your account without your knowledge or authorisation and take money out, they sign you up to a membership you never know existed and never signed up for, god knows how they get hold of your details and even your account number, report it to action fraud immediately and call the company and also email them and ask them in writing to cancel the membership asap and question them how they got hold of your details even tough they never tell you how, all of this to cover your self in case they come after you for money. terrible total scam be very careful.

My 95 year old mother who receives home care and whom I am power of attorney is fragile and hard of hearing. She received numerous anonymous calls offering her a big prizes and an inheritance. A few days after one such call I discovered a direct debit for £399.95 had been placed on her bank account in the name of "SM Lifestyle Perks" without her knowledge and with no notification from the company or from the bank - Natwest. The bank staff said that anyone with a sort code and account number belonging to someone else can place direct debits on that account and no prior notification has to be given. Also, the bank staff said that they cannot alert the police to such alleged fraudulent activity. All they can do is cancel the direct debit if requested by the rightful account holder and reinstate the money - provided the company that started the direct debit does not claim with evidence that it was done with consent. Clearly the government is failing the public on this, allowing crooked businesses a license to steal. Bank should not be allowed to approve a direct debit on anyone's account without the account holder's written permission to the bank. Write to your MP.

This would be a minus, but you can't leave a review without selecting a star.
This is very much the same as all the feedback about Lifestyle-robbers, had a phone call, I said I had no interest in whatever the call was about and ended the call, as I receive 4 or 5 calls a day trying to sell or scam you.
Around 3 days later I received two letters with cards and information about Lifestyle perks, my first reaction was to bin it, which I did, but then went to Trustpilot only to find that many people had been scammed into paying £399.95.
I contacted my bank who did not really help even the fraud department. Somehow they have got hold of my bank details and set up a DD which I had requested my bank stop should it happen, but sure enough one working day after receiving the letter this company took a pound from my account with the full intention of taking the £399.95 fee for the so-called FREE 12 months dining card.
If I had just ignored the money would have been taken and probably been a nightmare to retrieve.
The second page of the letter states that I agreed to the 14-day trial via the phone call, which I did not do, It's some third-party call center who ring you then lye that you agreed so they can claim their commission.
DO NOT IGNORE THE LETTER, CALL THE NUMBER AND CANCEL WHAT YOU PROBABLY NEVER AGREED TO ON THE PHONE CALL.
It's still concerning that they got my bank details from somewhere also my email address

They take money out your bank without authorisation

My mum has dementia and this appauling company has set up a direct debit and taken £399 from her account. She has no idea who they are or what she is paying for and as we have no paperwork it seems a large amount of money for nothing! I will do everything I can to get mums money back as this is a huge amout to lose

I got a direct debit notification under the name "SM Lifestyle". Never heard of them prior to that so I was confused as to how they were able to set direct debit with my account details. Thankfully I canceled it immediately.

Minus stars. Got a phone call to say I'd won a M&S hamper and they needed to confirm address only. Told them I wasn't interested as I'd been scammed before. Despite this, got card and welcome pack through post, thank you for signing up etc. Checked my bank account this morning and they've set up a direct debit. Iv not given bank info to them. When I was scammed last year (realised before any money taken) I foolishly gave my bank account number and sort code. Had to cancel a DD they set up. I'm assuming this company is just a rename of the other (can't remember what they were called). These people should be arrested, it's got to be fraud

Total fraud!!
They claimed they were from the postcode lottery and took out £1 from my account claiming they needed to verify as I had won a prize. It was suspicious and when I contacted HSBC they told me that there was no way they can withdraw money from my account without my authorisation. I kept checking and in a few days I saw a DD had been set up with £399 supposed to come out in the next few days. I cancelled the DD and rang them to give them a mouthful.
PART II
I have received the pack in the post a second time now after nearly 9 months (so they obviously hang on to the data) - it says I agreed to a 14-day trial!!
I am checking my accounts daily and will call them tomorrow

total scam..claimed they were from the Postcode lottery saying i had won £399. They had all my details and then £1 goes out of my bank and a load of crap in the post with a membership card! i reported them to the postcode lottery and they are looking into it , I informed my bank and they reversed the £1 and stopped all future direct debits how they managed to do a direct debit God only knows!
vile company DO NOT DEAL WITH THEM!

My elderly mother has had a £400 deduction without her knowledge or consent. I will be contacting action fraud.
**Can't give you a membership ID or account as she doesn't have one. That's the point.

My poor, elderly family member- who is 90 years old- is incredibly distressed after being scammed by this company.
They also received a letter, £1 taken and then a further £399.
Clearly the company have absolutely no empathy and 0 life morals so this review won't concern them at all but it may be helpful for other victims to know they're not alone.
We are currently contacting the bank to see if the money can be refunded and then will lodge a complaint with the fraud team.
What a sad, sad world we live in.
Update:
Unfortunately I am unsure how to reply to Lauren's comment.
My reply would be that there is absolutely no chance I am emailing or contacting this company. Clearly Lauren has not read my review. My grandmother had no 'membership' thus has no 'membership ID'... the company is a complete scam.
If they can access people's bank accounts through a letter god knows what they can do with your email or phone number..

I've had 1.00 pound taken from my bank account from these people sm lifestyle perks I haven't set anything up and don't understand how they got my account details unless I used a dodgy cash machine, I'm contacting the bank now

They called my elderly Mom who told them she wasn't interested and put the phone down on them never gave any bank details. Then a card turn up and they have taken over £400 out of her account. Her bank are onto it and assured her money will go back in. How and where have they had her bank details from. Scammers UPDATE my Mom's bank have passed all details to fraud so she will get her money back and hopefully this so called firm will be caught.

Scam!!!!
Just one call asking name and address and now apparently I have signed up for a membership!
How the hell have they got the nerve these people??
Steer clear! Action Fraud here I come!

I was contacted by telephone, I did not hear the name of the company. They had my address and wanted to check if it was correct, then said I will receive something in the post. I thought nothing of it, as there was no discussion of bank accounts, as I am always cautious about these details. I received today the Lifestyle pack and I remembered the phone call but I was immediately suspicious as these are always money making rackets. I googled for reviews and thank goodness I did! First thing I did was check my bank account, no money has left but a Direct Debit as been set up. How do they get these details? And able to set up a Direct Debit without me knowing? I have canceled the Direct Debit but will be checking everyday.

Hadn't even heard of the company !! no phone call or anything but today i discovered they have somehow set up a DD on my account and taken £399 out! Barclays are investigating

Reply from Lifestyle Perks
If there was a minus rating I would have used that. I got a phone call and knew it was a scam, so told the girl that I was not interested at all and please removed my contact details from their list. I still received the information in the post which detailed that I was on a 14 day free trial and a £400 subscription would be taken from my bank (I hadn't given them my bank details!) by Direct Debit. It took a 20 minute phone call to get the thing cancelled. I will be keeping an eye on my bank account though!

Total Scam!!!!
Somehow they got my mums details without authorisation and set up a DD, like the others £1 one week and the next £399. She did not receive a telesales call or email so goodness knows how they managed to set this up! Disgusting scammers, preying on people like that is horrendous I don’t know how they haven’t been stopped or at least investigated my the police or trades description act

Reply from Lifestyle Perks
These people are scammers. They called on 6 Jan saying I won a holiday and to confirm my address. I said I had not applied for anything to win but confirmed my address and nothing else. Then got a letter in the post saying I had qualified for some 12 month dinning card and was on a 14 day trial. Called them to cancel and asked had I not cancelled I would be interested to know how they would have taken money from my account as I had not provided it. They said the officer who spoke to me was to explain all that it related to and I must have provided my account detail. I have requested for a transcript of the call and raised a complaint. I will be taking this further - such companies need to be made accountable for miss selling products.
