They're delusional to think they can repair a roof
We originally contacted KPM to get our flat roof fixed as it was letting in water. We are now left with even worse damage, water flooding in, actual roofers telling us KPM cut every corner (by showing us KPM even left the code 4 sticker on the lead but telling us its code 5), and got verbally abused on the phone by the delusional owners. Throughout the entire process, we were given every excuse under the sun and were never told when the work was going to commence. Excuses ranged from rain-related damage in their garage to not one but two deaths and even the classic 'something came up'. During the estimate, Kevin and his dad show up and the dad immediately saw (seemingly) what was wrong - the force was strong with that one. When we eventually got people round to start work they just showed up whenever they liked, climbed up to the roof, did goodness knows what then left without so much as a word. We were not even sure when they had finished until I called up and asked. I pointed out that it would have been nice to have been told you were finished. Within milliseconds of finishing their last word they were badgering us for immediate payment because he "likes to pay his guys on a particular day". In the nicest way possible, that's all well and good but not my problem. Customers expect to be told when work is completed, if any complications arose, and to be asked if they are satisfied. We were told it was a £50 charge per day if payment was not made immediately. We never said we weren't going to pay immediately (in fact we pretty much did) but that didn't stop KPM laying on the pressure tactics. We have never heard from them as much as we did when payment was concerned. Soon after I reminded them that we need the 10 year guarantee, I received a 5 year guarantee for a different address. This seemed very odd as they clearly specify 10 years. This, coupled with the insistence on light speed payment, made complete sense when water started pouring in through an unrelated area in the ceiling less than a week later. We called them and yet again they came whenever they felt like it and put some clear silicone on it (good job guys that'll hold it). After they went back to their office, and probably gave themselves a round of applause followed by a standing ovation, I called and said I could still see several gaps. This was when I got verbally abused over the phone, they were shouting about scaffolding (we didn't have any), how much experience they have (couldn't fix a leak), and a judge (for some reason). You honestly couldn't make it up, the whole conversation made me think Kevin watches too much Netflix and thinks he's running the Peaky Blinders. The business was seemingly in turmoil. What made everything worse was that we passed their name onto friends and they hired them for their roof. With a combined total of £22,000 you would expect a little decency. It became apparent that one of their team member was seemingly AWOL (take a guess why) and it would appear that the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. The incompetence seems to have disseminated into every member of the team who seem to all share a surname (making challenging them quite difficult). AVOID AT ALL COSTS - literally.
