Wow! I wish I'd checked Kickstarter's rating here first
Wow! I wish I'd checked out Kickstarter's rating on Trust Pilot before using them.
Kickstarter owe me more than $100, a figure that is not disputed, and yet they refuse to refund it!
I've bought quite a lot though the Kickstarter platform. Obviously it's great when all goes well, however the gauge of any company is how they act when things go wrong. Turns out Kickstarter can't be trusted! I certainly won't ever back anything on Kickstarter again.
Kickstarter will not hold their clients…
Kickstarter will not hold their clients accountable. Even though the payment goes thru Kickstarter, they claim they are not responsible for the client not delivering the product and trust me, there are issues!
Unhelpful 3 of 4 cases never delivered
Unhelpful 3 of 4 cases never delivered. Not helpful in resolving anything. Ongoing issues no further use from me
shipping fees are out of control
I have never (yet) not received an item however shipping costs have become ridiculous. I am finding that generally the shipping doubles the cost. I purchased trekking poles for $80 and had to spend that much again to have them shipping from Chicago to Toronto. the box was light and not unusually shaped. today a spatula (the adapchula) I paid $25 for will cost another $22 to have shipped - I think I'll just lose the $25 and move on. no spatula is worth $50. or seems to me that the cost used to include shipping but now its an added cost that you don't find the total of until its time to ship. these creators need to be transparent about those fees up front. I'm done with Kickstarter
Too many scams!
I have backed a lot of campaigns on Kickstarter and most were fulfilled properly, but there have been too many i stances of failed campaigns, deliveries short of items, poor quality, and (most of all) outright scams, where the creators disappeared as soon as they had the money.
Recently, I found a campaign that is still running but clearly bogus, as there is no verifiable company information, such as businesses address and company registrationinformation. The social media and website were created only a month ago, even though the claim to have been operating for years. The website domain registrar information is hidden.
I have reported the campaign but it's still there. Look up NPadF.
Too much money lost for nothing. I'll be very wary of KS in future.
Scammers' haven now
Backed my first successful campaign in 2018 and followed with several more Unfortunately, since 2023, only 50% of the successfully funded projects I backed have been delivered as promised, resulting in the loss of hundreds of dollars. Sad to see KS become a haven for scammers, and I will no longer use the platform.
Kickstarter does nothing about complains
Kickstarter does nothing about projects that do not deliver. Never support projects on Kickstarter.
Dont trust kickstarter
Dont trust kickstarter! If project is 100% funded and the project makes think lets just steal the money backers pay the price kickstarter will not help backers! As backer you are nothing els then a easy way to make money for kickstarter and scammers
46 projects I backed
Many projects I backed, seems awesome to get something new off the ground. But so far about a third of those just stopped without any word or explanation..
If you think you get a good deal just make sure you can wait a couple of years and then still a lot will never send you anything.
Bit ridiculous that the website itself really does not care
Crowd funding best funding.
The best place to buy stuff you don't need.
Want something truly unique? Do you like limited editions? Don't mind waiting for something for over a year. Then this platform is for you. Help start someone dream, fund an artist or an inventor. Get something cool in the mail every once in a while.
Have had my funds refunded or the reservation on mij account lifted when Kickstarter found something wrong with the project i funded.
But its not a shop please keep in mind that if you want to fund something, your funding a promise. Not a making a sale.
Scam Central
Terrible company. They allow tons of scams to happen to their members and they do nothing about it whatsoever. Do not trust anything for "sale" on this site. Some things you will get from the creators, and some things you will never receive with no way to get a refund. They will string you along for months saying that the project is in progress and there was a shipping issue they are trying to fix but then nothing. Most banks will not let you dispute charges after a certain timeframe.
I've been scammed out of hundreds of dollars from this company. They allowing their "creators" to get away with scamming people over and over with no way to make it right.
Terrible customer service
Whilst I have backed many kickstarter projects their customer service leaves a lot to be desired. If a project fails they have 0 accountability and respond with generic copy and pasted responses from their guidance. I wonder if they even read our emails at all. As long as they have their % from the project it seems that's all they care about.
The only thing they do is collect money.
I backed several projects on Kickstarter, recently more and more projects turn out to be scammers. Apparently Kickstarter does no screening at all and when the project decides to sell the products we backed on Amazon, Kickstarter does nothing to support the backers that made the project possible. I will never back a project here again.
Tens of Thousands of SCAMS - Theft
Tens of Thousands of us have been ripped off by this site and its platform for criminals. Literally should be shut down by governments; DO NOT use this site EVER.
Mafia
Lots of projects that are intentionally never implemented. Fake AI images. Fake developers who just collect money and then you don't hear anything anymore. This is organized crime supporting Kickstarter.
I'm no longer becoming a Superbacker, even though Kickstarter wanted to motivate me to do so.
I have supported 7 projects so far.
2 x Scam BS
5 x delayed
Kickstarter is a thing of the past for me.
Kickstarter takes no responsibility for…
Kickstarter takes no responsibility for scams. I complained a year ago directly to Kickstarter about a project that I spent hundreds of dollars on since 2016 that has gone AWOL and never delivered to any of their supporters. Just to make sure you know how useless Kickstarter is, their response to me was:
"Thanks for reaching out. I'm sincerely sorry for any frustrations.
When a project ends successfully, we collect all funds and disburse them directly to the creator so that they can get started on their creative idea. As such, Kickstarter is not able to facilitate refunds on behalf of a creator. If you'd like to check in with the creator to see if a refund may be possible, you should reach out to them directly.
If you haven’t yet messaged the creator through Kickstarter, you can find the steps for how to do so in this help center article.
It’s important to keep in mind that if the funds have already gone towards bringing the project to life, a refund may not be possible at this time. Please let us know if you have any other questions."
Project mistaken for AI
These idiots at the customer service blocked my project, saying it was done with AI, in fact, I did the design myself with the SolidWorks. They need to use AI themself to smarten up.
Do nothing about scams and failed projects.
When projects work, it's fine no issues. but Kickstarter needs to take more responsibility for scams.
They let you report a project once if it is not performing and say they will contact the owner, who will then post a meaningless update. After that you can do nothing.
They take commission from all launches, they should be held to account if the project then takes the money and runs.
I wanted to put our project on…
I wanted to put our project on Kickstarter using an existing example. They rejected our project 2 times for reasons that should be also a rejection for the project we based ours on. But they got accepted not us. It seems to be very arbitrary and probably bought. We spent hours on this and our project 100% is a Kickstarter one. Too bad, exposed
