I was referred for CBT because my anxiety was taking over. When I started I was a bit anxious about telling someone how I’d been feeling but I was met with compassion and respect which made therapy so much easier than I’d expected. My therapist Nicole Ross was kind and didn’t judge me but also challenged me and guided me throughout my appointments and now I totally understand my feelings and how to manage them in a healthy way. I’m so grateful to Nicole and IPRS and highly recommend them if your struggling.

Incompetent and unqualified to deal with matters at hand

Experiencing a serious mental health crisis, I was provided a counsellor who was incredibly condescending and unqualified to speak about the issues at hand. The second counsellor I had when discussing suicidal thoughts recommended I coloured in my calendar with highlighter to demonstrate that 'not all days are blue'. It's been almost impossible to secure appointments and, in the end, I wish I'd been unsuccessful because the care and experience I've received has made me feel worse.

CBT has given me a change in perspective

My course of CBT has given me a change of perspective and the tools to help manage the current situation I am in and also other areas of my life. I hope that I will be able to continue to apply all that I have learnt with Nicole into practice. She was kind and gentle and steered me towards a greater understanding of myself and I will be forever grateful.
I throughly recommend Nicole.

Good cognitive exercises

I was referred for CBT after a phone assessment and had multiple sessions with exercises and some homework, which was good help as I would have found it hard to challenge old beliefs or think differently and do the exercises on my own. CBT is a specific type of therapy so best to also check what may work best for a person if something longer term is needed.

Went through my Vitality Insurance to IPRS and had Nicole Ross who was excellent. She allowed me to talk openly about how I was feeling and gave me useful techniques and exercises that I could use to address my issues. I felt comfortable and that I could dictate the pace of how we progressed but she was always there to offer guidance and give feedback. Would definitely recommend her

Great

I was referred to the IPRS counselling service as part of my private healthcare package and was granted 12 sessions. My therapist Nicole has been great - she was informative, supportive and patient with me throughout my journey up to this point. I have learned helpful ways of managing and coping with my panic attacks, and have been able to understand things that before, were just overwhelming feelings that I was struggling to process. I would highly recommend her.

Does what it says on the tin - excellent service

I was referred to IPRS Health by my health insurance Vitality. I wasn't even aware that I was entitled through my private insurer due to pre-existing conditions. My normal EAP provider at work only covers 6 sessions for basic stuff and I wanted to access more sessions that went into a bit more detail

I can only speak for my experience regarding the psychotherapy sessions I had with IPRS through my private insurance company Vitality which I have with my employer.

Setting up the first sessions was fast and straight forward - and there was no waiting list. Yes, you have to provide your card details as with Vitality you have to pay an excess which was £100 - a very small price to pay for otherwise unaffordable therapy. And of course, if you cancel at short notice you may have to pay out of your own pocket - which is pretty normal for any type of therapy or service and far from unfair and is made very clear from the outset.

A couple of times my therapist couldn't make it due to sickness and a red weather warning where she lived cut off her internet - Good reminder that your therapist is also human and subject to unforeseen circumstances, just like yourself. If you prefer a human over AI these are the kind of things you have to contend with.

IPRS contacted me with enough notice. Please remember that if you have a mental health emergency you should call an ambulance rather than rely on a booked therapy session.

As for the therapy itself, I had an amazing therapist called Nicole Ross - she is a great listener, has a calm disposition and really works with you to get to the core of things. Gladly, my symptoms subsided over the months but if I had needed to, I would have been able to use them for much longer and for more in depth work. I also have ADHD and my therapist was very understanding of this and worked with me to develop a level of acceptance.

I personally had no issues with them whatsoever so don't let the reviews put you off from seeking help even if your situation seems hopeless

Waste of 15 minutes - do not recommend

I visited IPRS Health in January 2025.

I'll get straight to the point, it was an awful experience, the person I spoke to was underqualified to provide the advice she provided, she was rude, condecending and provided false information about ADHD and the affect it has on mental health. Because of this, I decided that I would like to not continue with the talking therapy as I needed to speak to someone who took my mental health seriously.

I saught to receive a refund in January 2025 and close this case amicably, and up to now, they are refusing to reimburse me for the 15 minutes I wasted. For anyone who is considering using IPRS Health, you would be better off talking to the drunk man in the corner of your local pub.

Worst company. Avoid. My partner was told that he needed CBT, the therapist literally didn't have a clue what they were doing. He just gave multiple work sheets and did very little in the session. When he objected and asked if he could see a psychotherapist- he was told that 'anxiety' wouldn't be covered by psychotherapy - utterly insane!

Perspective of healthcare professional and IPRS patient!

I have the luxury of knowing a great deal about healthcare, including neurodiversity and mental health but needing to have an assessment completed due to an insurance situation. I therefore know the law inside out about consent, confidentiality, choice, ethics, transparency etc. This company is beyond toxic and withholds important information for allowing individuals to make informed decisions about their care and treatment starting with the right to access face to face treatment but them highly recommending online/tel because IT GENERATES INCOME FOR THEM and they don’t wish to outsource. Don’t feed that greed! All their clinicians are aware of this yet still happy to work there. Conscience, anyone? Professional standards and accountability, anyone? Appears not.

Poor service. Do not use.

I have no idea what help this company actually provides. I tried to access this service through my Vitality health insurance. I went through an chat bot screening and one call with someone who was clearly very junior. At the end of the call I was told they could not help me and have now written to my GP without my consent.
