Great customer service from Sam - when other insurance brokers were not very good
We recently purchased insurance through II for the first time, so I am leaving my review as a customer who hasn't had to claim, and hopefully won't.
I will start out by saying that I was incredibly impressed with Sam, who rang us in the middle of filling out our forms online and kindly then took over. Sam was helpful, spoke with emotional intelligence and was also keen to ensure we had a further quote from another insurance company, to see if he could get the price down, which he did.
Our home is a complicated one due to being very old and other insurance agencies/brokers either said no straight off the bat, wanted to charge obscene amounts or provided a poor service. I was actually shocked at the state of the insurance industry and the people working in it, who seem to lack basic people skills, until I spoke to Sam.
The price of our quote was more reasonable than most of our other quotes, and whilst another quote was in a similar range, the good customer service received from II/Sam was what made us choose them.
I've had to go back with further information since taking out our insurance and have found II to be helpful and prompt - their live chat is useful when it is open during work hours. I am not really sure what the provisions are outside of these hours though, so can't vouch for that.

Outstanding customer service
Had a very positive experience recently setting up home insurance. Dealt with two members of staff - Phil and Vanessa - who were very prompt, polite and efficient.
The quote was much cheaper compared to other insurance companies and covers all my needs

Feel a bit scammed
I got a great quote from Confused.com, but when I went onto the Intelligent Insurance website, the price suddenly went up over a hundred quid. Tried the chat bot and got the response 'the price is the price'. Feel scammed really.

I was very glad to have contacted Intelligent Insurance after I had tried another company that was unable to answer my questions regarding a policy that would suit my needs. VERY BAD
I have insured with them for two years - a non standard type of buildings insurance.
All was OK for the first two years, however, it seems they have changed the way they manage the policy going forward. This was not dealt with properly by them. Additionally I was not informed in advance that accidental damage to buildings would no longer be part of the policy.
Renewal price very high.

Genuinely awful company
Genuinely awful company. Had to cancel six months in, they charged me 50 pounds as an arrangement fee, then and extra 60 pounds cancellation fee. Effectively meaning I was charged 250 originally and only got 11 pounds back.
All they have is a chat service which you get an answer to and is quick and efficient. But still, absolutely awful.
Really bad service, please avoid!

The website is very user friendly to enter the information to get a quote. The chat function is helpful for clarification about questions that you’re not sure about. Whilst I was in the middle of the quote I received a phone call from Intelligent Insurance asking if I needed any help which I appreciated and showed excellent customer care. I went direct to Intelligent Insurance (not via a comparison site) after POLICY EXPERT cancelled my policy when I told them that I was to embark on a loft conversion. Intelligent Insurance were able to arrange my home and contents insurance, even with building work going on … and they cost £35 less than my policy with Policy Expert! Fast and efficient and I was able to talk to a real human being. Would certainly recommend.
