Bought a car for myself and my daughter they have been excellent from start to finish my daughters car had an EML appear which happens with used cars but the most important thing the guys were there to help took the car in and sorted it within a week with constant updates and emails. I understand that purchasing used cars can me be hit and miss and things happen the most important for me is someone is there to help and GTJ team were. Wife’s car next.

I have removed my 5 star rating for…

I have removed my 5 star rating for these guys as the aftersales is no where near as good as the point of sale service. They promised to rectify a problem despite saying that it would probably rectify itself. After numerous calls and e-mails, I am still waiting for this to be concluded, probably as the bill will be in the region of £800. Also I left the car with them for a week berfore collection to allow them time to service and MOT. I know find that when I get a 12 month tax reminder that it only had 8 months MOT - I have therefore been driving it for 4 months post expiry. I am not a happy bunny. They do not deserve the one stat, but I can't score them nothing!!!

AVOID- SAVE YOUR MONEY

The way in which I have been treated by this garage is absolutely disgusting. The car I bought from them is an absolute death trap!

When the car was bought the only advisory on the mot was the legal limit of the tyres had been met. On arrival to the garage (after having driven 3.5 hours to the garage) we asked to look under the bonnet. Lewis hadn’t told us that they were unable to open the bonnet and that the cable was broken. He then went on to say we would be charged to have this fixed! We took the car home and had to take it to a garage for them to open the bonnet. It took 4 hours to open only to find that it wasn’t just a broken cable. It was a corroded shut bonnet catch, 2 cables and a latch that needed replacing.

So this car supposedly had a service before being bought. That is the biggest joke I’ve heard. How can you carry out a service when you can’t open the bonnet? Within 7 days of owning the car I had to phone the garage 10 times only to be passed back and forth between people and get no outcome from it. With constant persistence the garage finally paid for the job to be done. A week later I pay to get 4 new tyres and the mechanic looking at my car sees that my brake hose is dangerous! He has no idea how they did not explode on the way home from the garage! Following this the garage carried out an mot… so the mot that only had one advisory has now got 14 advisories and 2 dangerous defects! Having phoned the garage Matt told us that the brake hoses aren’t that bad.

There is absolutely no reasoning with these cowboys. Trading standards will be investigating both downham market and thetford. If you’re thinking about buying from here DONT. I now have to pay out for issues on a car that we had no idea about!!!

Steer away from this place!

Purchased a car from them in January 2023, had to go to the mechanic 7 days after purchasing and had been back a couple of times after that. The car has now fully broken down and is unusable just after 3 months of ownership.

Contacted Glen at GTJ who has been less than helpful and is refusing to assist.

Small claims court here we come!

I bought a Nissan Juke from GTJ cars at Downham Market and took ownership of it on 1/02/23. It is a 64plate and is immaculate, it is low mileage for the year plus it had the full service history. I would highly recommend GTJ cars. The car was serviced and had a full PDI before collection. I would tell friends about them and wouldn’t hesitate to buy another car from them.

Not professional.

First the positives. The purchased car is running nicely, and we did eventually receive our warranty details and had our valet costs refunded, but ... the negatives. The salesman (James), promised us that if the car passed its MOT on the Tuesday, then we could collect it that evening. We didn't get it until the Thursday. He gave the reason that the car had not had it's valet service yet. When we purchased it on the Thursday, he told us, at the last moment, that the car had not had it's valet and we could have it done at our local car wash (which he recommended). He promised to, "refund us in full". We were charged £80.00. James then refused to pay back this money. He then ignored our messages. I complained to the company and Glen agreed instantly to refund us, however, I had to contact him again to ensure the money was sent. James also promised to tax the car and said it would cost £150.00. He, "forgot" to do it and then charged us £220.00. He flashed service and MOT history at us stating that the car had "an excellent service history", but we never saw those documents again. He also promised to send us out the warranty details in the post. He didn't. I again had to contact Glen. This all dragged on for the best part of a month, culminating in todays call back from Glen where I was informed that they didn't have the service history and they couldn't question James as he no longer worked for the company. I was told that, "making accusations over the phone" was, "easy" and that he would hang up on me, or if I wanted to discuss this further, then I could travel to his office. I viewed this as a very clear threat. The tone was not polite or professional. Our requests for this service history were repeatedly ignored by both James and Glen. What were we supposed to do? Just crawl away? A good service history affects the sales figure of the car. I judge a company, not so much on the product that they sell, but on the after sales service. When things go wrong, that's when you discover if the company cares for the customer, and on this occasion, it is clear that we were very badly treated. All it would have taken would have been for someone at this company to have apologised for its failings, instead of ignoring our requests. As I said, a nice car, but not professional, and no, I could not recommended buying a car from them.
