Do not use
Have used them before with no issue, however it looks like they have gone bankrupt. Phone just goes to automatic voicemail and website no longer works for redeeming, emails are also bouncing back. You can still buy vouchers, please don't and stay clear
We were given £100 in vouchers
We were given £100 in vouchers. Used half the credit last month and all went fine. Went to use the rest of it but nothing…nothing on the website, they refuse to answer calls, messages. So I think that’s money down the drain, or into their pockets 🤬🤬🤬
Unable to redeem the voucher
Unable to redeem the voucher . Same experience as all the other recent ones & no response from Gourmet Guide despite numerous phone calls and emails to them.
Literally I can only repeat what others…
Literally I can only repeat what others have previously said on here…
Restaurant booked, tried to make contact to redeem voucher unsuccessful… might as well have chucked £100. Down the drain! Not good! DO NOT BUY A VOUCHER FROM THIS COMPANY
Can not redeem voucher
Can not redeem voucher, non responsive to email and calls.
Apparently the business was sold in May 2024 and it appears that the new owners are not running it appropriately.
I am not quite sure what to believe, either way it is not acceptable and illegal, PLEASE NOT GIVE THESE THIEVES YOUR MONEY.
Seem to be having the same problem as…
Seem to be having the same problem as others today. Booked a restaurant yesterday. Tried to contact Gourmet Guide by website form, telephone and e mail. Still no reply. The voucher is worth £40 and was a present from one of my Sons. Have they gone bust and stolen his money, or are they just useless. One restaurant I tried from their list don’t accept their vouchers any more. What’s going on here. I have a very bad feeling about this. There is nothing worse than being scammed.
Looks like the company is defunct
Trying to redeem a voucher & book a restaurant- impossible to communicate with Gourmet Guide - don't pick up phone and email is pretty much defunct.
I feel really sorry for friend who used their hard earned cash on what they thought would be a wonderful gift.
DO NOT USE
Have been trying to contact Gourmet…
Have been trying to contact Gourmet Guide for over a week. No response, just an automated email saying they are currently unavailable with updates in progress. No updates either on their website or emails. No-one ever picks the phone! It's outrageous - no customer service whatsoever! My vouchers are expiring and I can't even book a restaurant to use them up as this company don't even respond to emails. How can this be allowed.
Not functioning....
Website, emails and phone line no longer work!!! Cannot be contacted, vouchers cannot be spent....
Scammers
Scammers. Looked on their website choose an Italian restaurant locally made the booking Gourmet Guide called me to say they had prepaid the voucher, which was blatant lie. When the bill came i asked regarding the voucher the owner has never dealt with Gourmet guide, never had a phone call to prepay the voucher. I paid the bill spoke with the owner regarding the issue, emailed gourmet Cc'd the restaurant who has also tried calling with no answer, i have had no reply apart from automated "currently unavailable". In todays current situation if a family had been given a voucher for a meal imagine what would happen when they find out that the voucher had not been prepaid? This would leave the restaurant and family in a awkward position. I would not use these clowns.
Tried calling no answer, in fact didn't even ring dead tone.
update 29 November 2024. Website still allows you to purchase vouchers up to the value of £500, but they still do not answer emails or calls.
DO NOT BUY ANY VOUCHERS FROM THEIR WEBSITE AS SHOWS YOU CAN STILL PURCHASE.
Thieves
Thieves will take your voucher money and then wont respond to any form of contact when you try to use it
UNABLE TO REDEEM ANYWHERE!!
I bought one of these ‘vouchers’ as a gift for my parents last Christmas. Since then they have tried numerous restaurants that supposedly accept these vouchers only to be told that either they don’t accept them or that they’ve never heard of them. DO NOT BUY ONE!!!
If I could give 0 stars I would!
If I could give 0 stars I would!
Received a gift voucher and due to being extremely ill, I was unable to use this within the period given. I contacted them and looked to see if I could pay a fee to redeem at least an amount of this voucher as it was worth a high value and was refused.
From reading other reviews, it seems like their customer service is shocking and I would avoid at all costs!
I bought 3 of these as gifts last Xmas
I bought 3 of these as gifts last Xmas. All 3 recipients have had issues and found them hard to redeem. One hasn't managed it and has called in to extend the voucher and been told this will cost £20 (a third of the voucher!). So that is money in the bin.
Unfortunately it seems that the business model is to make it hard to redeem the voucher in the hopes that they can pocket the cash. Very disappointing and quite scummy for a gift company.
Quite the turnaround
My initial one star review comments are below but I am delighted to say that after their management got involved, we were re-issued with a voucher and this time the experience was seamless! Very impressive turnaround guys

Give these guys a wide berth and use their competitors instead!
The wife and I went for a lovely date lunch today only to spend over 40 minutes waiting for the restaurant to get hold of GG to confirm the voucher as they had ‘forgotten’ to call the restaurant themselves! We emailed customer services of GG only for them to blame us for their incompetence!!! Incredibly rude poor service - a shame these guys survived the pandemic
inconvenient/hard to use. what value do they add?
Although my GG voucher gift email (Dec 2022) said they needed 24 hours notice for a restaurant booking, that is now 48 hours. When I got through by phone today (on the third try, having left messages before), they said they would not be willing to book a restaurant tonight because (1) of their 48-hour policy and (2) everyone but the person on the phone was on annual leave and she was busy answering phones.
Hard to see how they add any value if they require 2-days notice to book anything --assuming you can get through to them and they have enough staff. One can guess that GG makes money, in part, by sitting on the cash paid in to buy vouchers which have not yet been spent. When one books a restaurant which does not take their vouchers directly, GG calls the restaurant and gives them a credit card number (as the restaurant in question explained to me)--presumably GG's own credit card number. Thus, one is entirely at the mercy of GG to make one's restaurant booking for one in a timely way.
A great business model -- this is how the traveller's checques of old used to work-- but hard to see how this is anything other than an unnecessary and unwelcome encumbrance on the user.
We represent one of the restaurants…
We represent one of the restaurants listed on the Gourmet Guide website. We have never entered into any agreement with them regarding the use of their vouchers at our restaurant and are unsure why we are advertised on there. We have requested to be removed and they refused! We plan to report them to trading standards. I wouldn't recommend spending your money with them.

Good experience
Have just been through the process of redeeming my vouchers I received for Christmas and it could not have been easier, I made the booking direct with the restaurant (Hutong in the Shard, London) informed Gourmet Guide through the booking process on their website, then a very friendly & polite Chantelle called to inform me they would be purchasing the vouchers direct with the restaurant and will email me them which she did within the next few minutes, very impressed and happy, thank you Gourmet Guide.
Extremely pleasurable experience in Dhabba Glasgow
Received a Gourmet voucher as a gift. Phoned the restaurant of my choice, The Dhabba in Glasgow and booked over the phone. Advised Gourmet about my booking and received and email confirmation. Went last night and the restaurant and food was amazing. Really friendly staff and excellent quality of food. Would not hesitate to recommend vouchers or the restaurant.
