Fast, efficient service.

Disgraceful treatment from this Honda dealer. Initial purchase and delivery of Honda HRX 537 was smooth and efficient, however aftersales service has turned out to be worse than dismal. I have had starting/restarting issues with the machine on the handful of occasions I have used it, plus it exhibits a recoil that snaps back violently. This was a well-documented issue with Honda lawnmowers a couple years ago and the subject of a worldwide recall – so I have had concerns as to whether my machine is affected by this or not. Garden Machinery Limited has been quite dismissive of my concerns, insisting I return the machine for a full refund – no option for replacement. I have been hesitant to do so as collection (by huge truck) is inconvenient, plus I am not after a refund – all I want is a machine that works correctly and safely. Clearly they regard me as a problem customer. I have spent well over a grand on a lawnmower, only to be treated like an irritating nuisance. Not recommended.

I ordered an item which was supposed to be in stock and dispatched within 1-3 working days. After waiting for dispatch notification and hearing nothing I contacted their customer services. I received a curt reply, with no apology, saying that they 'will' have to order the item from the supplier first. I was surprised this hadn't been done already, as my order had been in for almost three days. No indication was given of how long I will have to wait for delivery but given the time to obtain it from the supplier, their own dispatch time of up to 3 working days, plus courier delivery time, looks as though it's going to be a while. Had I ordered from someone else I would have received the item already.

In March 2024, I advised my mother, to purchase a self propelling Honda lawnmower. I have experience of using them and found them to be reliable. Total purchase price, including the recommended petrol alternative, came to over £500. The lawnmower was bought in anticipation of the grass cutting season. I used the mower twice, on its 3rd cut, it stopped working. The mower went back to Garden Machines, who identified a faulty carburetor. Although we had a Honda 12 month guarantee, the carburetor is only guaranteed for 3 months. As we had bought the mower before the grass cutting season and due to wet weather, the mower failed after this 3 month window. Although Garden Machines and myself made representations to Honda, Honda would not provide a replacement carburettor, despite having used the recommended synthetic fuel. Garden Machines stepped up and fixed the carburetor and it has worked successfully throughout the Summer of 2024 and yesterday when I mowed the lawn for the first time this year. If you are going to but a Honda lawnmower, it might be best to buy it to use it immediately so if you do suffer a carburetor problem, it happens within 3 months. I certainly wouldn't risk buying a Honda lawnmower from anyone else other than Garden Machines, whose people seemed really committed to doing the best for their customers.
