I’ve had the Amtrak credit card through First National Bank of Omaha for a little over a year. Recently, a refund posted after I had already paid my balance, leaving me with a negative balance. Ge... See more

FNBO is an absolute scam. Only an idiot with deal with this bank
FNBO Visa credit card was feeing me to death by mistake and Customer service was horrible . finally had to cancel credit card
When I came here to write a review, I had no idea that this bank would have 85% negative 1 reviews. I'm here to add one more. The problem with FNBO is that THEY have problems within and they make it IMPOSSIBLE to speak with a competent employee who can straiten out your issues. Even though the payments are made early & electronically, their system must be outdated if not annoying because they send out emails stating that the payments have not been received. When I have gone thru the drudgery of using their phone system to find out WHY I am receiving these messages, it has only brought me to someone on the other end who was not at all competent or even helpful. All I was asking was why are you sending me late notice emails when in fact it is clearly on record that FNBO has received my payment and they have NO ANSWER. Yes, the payments have already been entered properly but they leave you thinking that something has gone wrong and the payment has not been received. WHY would anyone want to deal with a financial establishment that cannot even post on-time payments???? It's ridiculous and certainly not worth the time and aggravation required to follow up every month to CORRECT THEIR MISTAKES. Find another bank and you will be much better off. I will probably receive the same apologetic response that I have read in the other reviews with no real solution, only pointless apologies.
Interestingly enough, this "bank" replied with the same email address where I received the lousy service before. They STILL have offered no better solution to providing any type of reasonable "customer service". It seems to me that they just don't care!

Statements have not been being delivered and interest was charged, they refused to remove it even though their mailing system is fd up. Don't waste your time even applying for a card or make a bank account here. They're shìț

Had a card stolen and replicated that led to a number of charges. Canceled the card and ordered a new one which had fraudulent charges on it BEFORE i received it. Have had zero customer service other than their fraud department will be looking into which can take up to 60 days.....WHILE they have posted the obviously fraudulent charges (600 at one service station on same day) to MY account. NEVER have experienced such a poor response to fraud. What can the bank do better? Provide customer service and not just AI generated responses here.

I’ve been with this bank for years. I am withdrawing/closing all of my accounts due to an experience I had attempting to recoup money from a scam charge thru Venmo. As Venmo told me to talk to my bank I did. I received no correspondence until I went to the bank where I was told that it was declined because I “willingly gave the money”. Which is literally every single online purchase- it is an act of faith where you expect to get the product or service you paid for. When I called the fraud department they told me they cannot reverse a third-party charge. Which is not true. So which reason is it? If I call again will I get a different answer? I don’t do business with banks that don’t treat their customers right. They could have reversed the charge- they just didn’t want to

Stay away from anything with this bank. Customer service can NOT answer anything. Declined on a simple credit card which has never happened in 50 years for me. No debt, good income, own home and customer service can not tell me why. Go elsewhere for any banking.

I had a balance made on time payments and out of nowhere they drop my credit limit which had a negative effect on my credit report

Shopping at Farm and Fleet, the checker said if we apply for a store credit card, we'd get a discount, so my husband applied. After that, he made 1 purchase on the card. When it was time to make a payment, we tried to set up his payment method on his online account. No option for credit card, so we had to type in his checking account number. Well, he's never had checks so we couldn't look at that. We put in his account number as we thought it was and then made a payment. 3 days later, it gets returned. We were one zero off. So we tried again and it got sent back again (one zero off on the other side). We called their help line and they tried and it didn't go thru. We contacted his bank and finally we got the account number just right and the payment went through. Lucky we started early with all the 3-day delays on returns. His first payment was made on time.
First of all, the website for the online account is terrible! You have to go down to the bottom of the page and click 'Contact Us' to get to the secure messages. If it says "New message waiting" you click on it and you get an error. Bad design and not working!
After his bill was paid in full, FNBO charged him a $25 fee for "Dishonored payment". REALLY?!? Several calls and messages we made showed that we were just trying to initially set up his account number. Even though we went paper free, the 3 times that the payment didn't go through our bank, we got a nastygram in the mail saying our account could be suspended. Then we got a paper bill for the $25 fee, so we followed the instructions on the back to dispute the charge. 30 days later, nothing. 60 days later, nothing back from them.
We went back to their awful secure messaging and sent another message saying WTF? It worked for once and we got a reply. They said that we were lucky they didn't charge us three $25 fees! REALLY?!? I thought by disputing the charge and explaining what went down, they would be reasonable and return the ridiculous fee.
We only used the card for 1 purchase and then paid it off in full before the due date. But instead of serving the customer, they got greedy and stole $25 from us! For NOTHING!
If you get asked to apply for a store card and it's FNBO, don't do it!
Terrible website, terrible customer service, and they will steal from you by charging you fees for nothing. If you dispute any charge, they will not get back to you.

No disclosure of ‘required’ info before applying for a credit card. Complete waste of time. This company wants me to provide a copy of my signed original Social Security card, the last 2 year's 1099 forms copy of my license with my current mailing address. Not only it's just ridiculous that I can't send this electronically but my license doesn't have my current address, I do not have my Social Security card. What I do have is 830 credit, impeccable record, zero negative anything on my report for 20 years. This is beyond ridiculous and the reason for the one star review is because none of this being ‘required’ was disclosed prior to applying for the card. Complete waste of time and now a ding on my credit report. Forget this company. And by forget I think you know what I mean.
edit: in response to their garbage reply, it’s almost like you didn’t read what I wrote. You accepted zero responsibility for your awful process and it appears you will continue it. At no point did you properly disclose, as in print clearly during the application process (not buried in some bs terms and conditions) what you expect of people. So, again, your company is awful.

When choosing a bank, make sure to review its fraud policies. If you happen to be a victim of a scam, FNBO will sympathize with you, and tell you how sorry they are but only after they remind you that you need to make your account whole within 59 days, and if you don't, they will also gently remind you they will take that money out of another account if that person's name is on your account also. There is no assistance whatsoever. I've been a member for 40 years, both sides of my family have accounts here, but it's good to know they serve only platitudes, nothing of substance.
It is embarrassing to even give a review to this bank simply put the most unprofessional and unethical bank , with customer care agents that will blatantly mock you in this day any time. Save yourself form them.
I had a FNBO Credit Card for a few years. When I stopped using it they sent me a letter that they would close my account soon if I didn’t use it. I didn’t use it. Nearly a year later they sent me new cards. I called to close my account and got the run-around to one person after another – all foreign speaking and hard to understand. They presented me with one “offer” after another – commercials for products I do not want. I turned down 2-3 of them, and their pressure tactics, reminding them I just want to close my account. I finally kind of yelled at the lady and said I don’t want any more commercials or offers – just close my account. She hung up on me. 10 days later I got a letter that I had enrolled in an identity theft protection plan – YourIDSolution, (that’s ironic) and they had charged my card $3.95 trial membershsip, and it would increase to $21.95 after 15 days. I called this company and asked for proof that I enrolled. She said I had given my name, address, email and credit card to accept the offer on such and such a date – the day I called FNBO. They are canceling my subscription and crediting the credit card, but I still haven’t been able to close the credit card account. In my estimation FNBO is a fraudulent business.
FNBO's credit card service is a disaster—incompetent reps, unresolved issues, abysmal communication, and glitchy systems. Amtrak must return to Bank of America! FNBO is a nightmare. Avoid at all costs!
FNBO just took over my Flagstar credit card account and within days I needed to call customer service for a "service fee" on my account that I have never had to pay in my entire adult life. The guy who answered in the customer service department was a rude jerk who would not help me and when I asked who else I could talk to about this issue, he told me no one and hung up on me. Absolute worst service I have ever experienced, stay away from this company
The credit card management change over from Elan to FNBO by Flagstar has so far been a total NIGHTMARE. Convoluted, mile long web addresses delivered by a phone bot, overly complicated instructions on how to navigate the changeover, inability to set up a new online business account with FNBO, inability to pay my cc bill online, a weird delay in the start date for using FNBO's newly issued Flagstar Visa cards. Bad. Really, REALLY BAD. I closed both of my business checking accounts with Flagstar last year because of repeated breaches. I'm planning to close one business CC account with Flagstar/FNBO, and will probably move the other business CC account to different bank.
The staff at FNBO is the only reason we have stuck with this bank since it bought over our local Wyo State bank. If you have a business account and have any desire to move money around or use any basic functionality tools that any other online banking would have.....it does not exist. The online banking webpage is literally from 2010. The most progressive thing you can do is send money through Zelle. Oh wait, you also cannot do that if you have a business account.
They need to stop popping branches up everywhere and spend money on their own platforms for customers.
poor customer serbice over zealous fraud department
This is one of those Spinal Tap situations where my rating goes DOWN to -11.
Flagstar / NYCB deserves some of the blame as well.
I had been a happy credit customer of Flagstar for 1-2 years. Flagstar transferred its customers over to FNBO.
The way this was handled was..I will be polite and say "disappointing." I've got a number of complaints. As far as I know, this is what is happening to everyone and not based on anything I did wrong.
1. FNBO is completely changing the cashback structure of the card to something much worse than I had with Flagstar. I have no option to change this.
2. FNBO is reevaluating my credit limit. (This one is not so bad in my opinion but add it to the list.)
3. The communication was terrible. The only notification I received was by mail. Nothing by phone, email, or in the credit card web interface. Not even a "hey, expect something in the mail."
4. It's a whole quest to find someone to talk to about this. Customer service from my existing credit card doesn't even know what's going on, despite the fact that FNBO told me there are things I need to do on the old card before it switches to the new card. The communication from FNBO does not have a general number to call about the transition or any good contact for FNBO, other than the number to opt out of data sharing.
5. There is a secret number to opt out of the switch entirely, but that number is not listed in the communication I received.
6. That number to opt out of data sharing secretly works to talk to someone at FNBO about the transition, but when you call it asks you for your card number and your old card number doesn't work. (I won't get the new card for another month and half, which is too late for reasons I describe below). The only way to get any information is to spam "0" until they send you to a human.
7. The humans are not very well-informed about the transition. They also don't have any good resources. The rep I spoke to was supposed to have a resource for answering questions, but the "link was broken" and pointed to a different resource. I asked whether my card rewards structure was changing, and the rep said that no, it was not changing. After more questioning, the rep said oh, actually it is changing.
8. According to the communication I received from FNBO, I have 30 days to opt out of data sharing. The communication also says that I can opt out of data sharing at any time. However, that's a lie. When I called the data sharing opt-out number, I was told that I cannot opt out of data sharing without the new card number. I won't receive that for another 45 days. So they will have a free 15-day period to send my info out to anyone they want despite the fact that they claim I can opt out at any time.
9. Back to the part about how they are making my card way worse: You might think that this is somewhat understandable because FNBO doesn't offer any cards like what I have with Flagstar. However, it appears that they are switching me to a rewards structure which they didn't previously offer, which they call a "Flagstar Signature Visa" (confusing because Flagstar offers multiple Visa Signature cards, but whatever; I guess this is the generic one). So if I'm right about that, then the point is that they DID go through the effort to set up a new rewards structure for transitioning clients but CHOSE not to make one that's actually any good to accommodate those clients. But let's say I'm wrong about that, and they are just repackaging an existing FNBO card. They are giving me no option to choose which FNBO card I transition to (confirmed that with customer service at the data sharing opt-out number after the automatic prompts tried to trick me into thinking I couldn't do anything).
I'm not saying that they did anything illegal (or that they didn't), and I'm not saying I'm surprised. Just saying it's bad, and much worse than my experience with most other banks.
I had my secured credit card closed for no reason. Then when I requested my money back as I did not owe them any money, the bank told me that it was sent out to my attorney's office in my name, as I asked him to get involved. What the bank did was mail my money not in my name but in my attorney's name to his home address, and his wife cashed the check, and I am still waiting for my money, and the bank would not supply me a copy of the cancelled check or omit to their error or try to correct it. I am a disabled person and I have leukemia. This is not acceptable.
