Trust, Care and Professionalism: Perfect Experience at Estepalace

I came from Sweden to Istanbul for a hair transplant at Estepalace. My experience with the Estepalace team was filled with trust and comfort, something rare in life. From beginning to end, they treated me with empathy, warm smiles, and professionalism, making me feel very special. During the procedure, I had no worries or excitement; I always felt I was in safe hands. Every team member did a perfect job, both personally and professionally. Estepalace is not just a clinic; it feels like a family that makes you happy and special. Endless thanks I’m so glad I chose you!!!

PROCEDURE NOT PERFORMED BY DR NAGIHAN AKBAS

It is will reluctance that I write this review, I had contacted Estepalace Hair Transplant Clinic in 2019 after a friend recommended them following his surgery. The request I made was very specific

Specific Request
“Hi
Your details were given to me by Simon B______ who was treated at your clinic.
I am interested in having the same procedure and would want exactly the same technicians and overseeing Dr who preformed his actual procedure.

I have had a similar procedure carried out in the UK a few years ago so I am very aware of the differences in having the actual team carry out the procedure to ensure, safety, quality and care.

Kind regards”
Answer

“Good morning , Yes Nagihan akbas will perform your surgery “

Request
“Thank you for the information. I would want I Nagihan Akbas to do the procedure”

On the week before my procedure I sent this request “ What level does the back of my head need to be cut down to ?”
Answer
“ Hello Mr. Immanuel
About the hair no problem you can keep it without cut it. DHI (my procedure) does not require shaving the head. DHI done by inserting the grafts between already existing hairs by choi pens.

So makes more density for results. You only should shorter your hair at barber before you come Istanbul donation areas (sides and backside of head). The top side you can only make it bit shorter by scissors ✂️ So you will ask your barber to make style for you.”

However to err on the side of caution I sent a picture of me hair so that I could be advised if I need to have in prepared correctly for the procedure. The main reason for this is I have had a similar procedure a few years ago, having your hair professionally cut in advance meant, I can look more presentable when I return to work for upcoming presentations.

To my absolute horror on the morning if the surgery, they advised that I was given the wrong information and I had to have my hair shaved there and then, all I can say was my hair was butchered my one of the technicians.

That wasn’t the best start to the day, then when the procedure was about to start I once again asked if Dr Nagihan Akbas, whilst she was in the room to confirm that she would be preforming the procedure, again I was told yes by her. I saw Dr Akbas fully gowned and gloved with the specialist procedure transplant magnifying glasses and ready to start the procedure, this gave me the clear impression she was the one who would be carrying out my procedure.
This then followed my being asked to lay of the operating table and then by some sort of gauze or tape being placed on my forehead to cover my eyes and face, before the procedure commenced.

To my absolute disbelief and shock, when I asked to go to the bathroom about an hour or so into the procedure, when I stood up, I could see that it was a technician carrying out the procedure and not Dr Nagihan Akbas. I now realise that this process was orchestrated to have Dr Akbas come into the treatment room prior to my procedure and to give me the illusion she would be carrying out my procedure.
f I was informed of this then I wouldn’t have come to Istanbul after waiting 3 years to have a procedure carried out by someone I had no prior knowledge of and their level of skill and competence.

This is a serious breach of trust, professional conduct, ethical code and duty of care to my specific request as a patient.

I now know and appreciate first hand that when you get the advise to take extra care and precautions when you have a procedure abroad. I thought I had covered the most important aspect, the actual surgeon and confirmation of whom I want to carry out my procedure alas this is not the case.
This clinic whilst clean, friendly and looking professional, is just a conveyor belt of between 3-6 patients having life changing procedures all at the same time, by technicians and NOT BY A FULLY QUALIFIED SURGEON OR DR, if that is what you want and happy with that level of skill and service then this is the place for you.
On my check up on the following day, I was given a complementary bottle of vitamins and donor area hair oil.
However it is too late to do anything on my procedure, hopefully they will read this and amend the incorrect information that they provide overseas patients and provide truthful information in the future.

If I hadn’t made such specific request about my chosen Dr then the clinic was clean, all of the staff and technicians were polite.
