Unethical business practices
A few months before Covid broke out, my wife and I and another couple gave Dolomite Mountains a $1,000 deposit toward a week of hiking in the summer. The company's posted policy on cancellations was a 100% refund if the cancellation was made 90 days before the trip. When we asked for our deposit to be refunded, Dolomite Mountains refused. They told us that they would keep our money and we can only use the deposit as a down payment for a trip the following summer. Of course, we were never able to take the trip that and the deposit was never returned.
