Be careful using this company

Be careful using this company. They don’t have up-to-date information and booked me onto something that was unavailable. During enquiries they mixed currencies were unclear about availability and generally very frustrating.

Portugal biking tour to Fatima

We did a Portugal biking tour to Fatima. Local guide was great and supportive.

We had some issues at start of our trip but we were sorted out by 57 hours.

Thanks to the team for looking into our issues and rectifying the situation.

Company is great for organising off-the-beaten-track type tours.

I was very disappointed to discover…

I was very disappointed to discover that this company used photos of me and my friends in their advertising for the Tour du Mont Blanc without ever asking for our permission. We did not sign any release forms or give consent, yet our image is being used to promote their trips commercially.

This raises serious concerns about their professionalism and respect for customer privacy. If they treat personal data and images this carelessly, it makes me question how they handle other aspects of their service.

I would strongly advise caution before booking with this company.

Hi Justin,

We’re truly sorry to hear about this, and we completely understand your concerns. Please extend our apologies to your friends as well — we recognize this situation affects all of you. As soon as we were made aware of the issue, we removed the photo right away.

57hours is a marketplace that connects travelers with trusted local guides and tour operators — similar to how Airbnb connects hosts with guests. The local operators provide the tour content and media, and we promote their adventures to a wider audience on their behalf. In this case, the photo in question was provided by the local tour operator, who was under the impression that they had the necessary permissions to use it.

We take matters of privacy and consent very seriously, and we’re reviewing our processes with our partners to make sure this doesn’t happen again. Thank you for bringing this to our attention.

Shameful

Therefore, I request that you:
1. Immediately remove the photo from your website and any promotional materials, or
2. Provide written confirmation of the lawful basis or model release that permits this use, or
3. Offer appropriate compensation should you wish to continue using our likenesses.

Iceland is truly spectacular with its valleys, mountains and deserts, truly is the land of Fire and Ice, because we certainly seen both. Our tour company with Arctic Hiking and Expeditions thru 57 hours was transforming. Einar and Inga were the most outstanding tour guides, experienced and incredibly comfortable to spend time with.
Our group of 10 from all parts of the world became instant family as we hiked the iconic Laugavegar Trail. I already miss being there and the trail will always be in my heart.

Highlights of the TMB

We had the pleasure of hiking with Paul Spackman during our TMB trek, and we can say without hesitation that he is one of the most knowledgeable, thoughtful, and inspiring guides we've encountered.
From the moment we set out, it was clear that he possessed a deep respect for nature and a passion for sharing it. Paul created an experience that was both enriching and unforgettable, which we credit to Paul's skill, enthusiasm and care.
We were impressed by how Paul tailored the hike to the needs and pace of the group and adapted the route to avoid heavy traffic on the trail. Always adding his personal touch of humour, anecdotes and introducing friends and associates along the trail, Paul made the trek feel communal and inclusive.
The office support team were outstanding. The professionalism, clear communication and care taken to ensure our group was in good hands were truly
appreciated and made our hike smooth and stress-free, allowing us to enjoy our journey fully. (Who would have thought snow in July?)
The accommodations were comfortable, clean and thoughtfully designed. We truly appreciated the warm hospitality and attention to detail. The hearty homemade dishes and warm service brought everyone together, and each meal felt personal, comforting and deeply satisfying. 5-star service!
We would recommend Paul and 57 hours to anyone seeking a guided tour; they would be in excellent hands.

Hiking New Zealand

New Zealand has long been on my "bucket list" and the trip I booked through 57 Hours using locally owned and operated Hiking New Zealand (HNZ) met and exceeded expectations. The hiking guides were top notch, great sense of humour, enthusiastic, and attentive to all guests needs. The food and accommodation was great. The picnic lunches on the south Island were amazing, with the guides carrying a smorgasbord, lol. The guides were knowledgeable about the history of NZ and the Maori including the the indigenous plants, trees and birds of the country. Learning about the people, culture and environment and seeing the natural beauty of the country is what enriches my hiking trips. It is what gave this trip a 5 star rating.

57 was diligent in answering all my questions during the booking process and where it couldn't HNZ did. If I could make a suggestion for 57, the 15 minute scheduled call is sometimes not sufficient to cover all questions. You then have to book another call which based on availability could be a few days later. It makes completing the booking process a bit cumbersome. Otherwise a great experience. I would recommend it.

Salkantay Trek with 57hours- a cultural and spiritual experience

This trip was one of the most challenging and rewarding trips of my life. 11 women set out on a girl's outdoor hike that ended up being an amazing cultural, physical, and emotional journey. We were expecting a tough hike through some mountains to Machu Picchu, and it turned out to be so much more. Going at the end of the rainy season, all of the weather elements were in play at some point, sun, rain, snow, and all of it added to the challenge and joy of the trip. Our guides, Yariza (Yaya) and Zoraida, along with our awesome chef, Modesto were key to the trip. Yaya shared her culture and love for the mountains all along the way, making it so much more meaningful. We all learned about and fell in love with Pachamama, Mother Earth. One day was spent at a community project where we experienced the day-to-day life, not to mention the wonderful food of the Peruvians. The rain is key to growing the vital potatoes and we all celebrated the rain along the way as we knew the importance of the potato to this beautiful culture and its people. When the going got tough- it is a challenging trip, Yaya was there, giving us the confidence and energy to take the mountain. There are no words that can accurately express the vast beauty that you will experience. As each day ended, we gathered around the dinner table and shared with much laughter at what we had done! We added on Rainbow Mountain- you do not want to miss this mountain! The entire experience will be etched in my mind and my heart forever!

Organization Excellent

It was well organized and it was as indicated. I was hestitant to go as I was afraid of scams, to be honest. However, what was advertised was what I got. I felt safe. I met fellow travellers. The guides were most excellent. PS. One tour was cancelled due to 'bees in the area' for which I was credited and was place on a different day tour.

New Zealand 7 Day Bike Venture Exceeded Expectations

7day New Zealand bicycle venture on Alps2Ocean Cycle Trail was Spectacular‼️❤️Mark, owner of our host, Cycle Ventures, was very helpful and personally joined us for our beginning and ending meals, and at other times. Our trip guide, Harry, was AMAZING and so personable. 💯💯💯‼️‼️‼️

This cycle trip exceeded my expectations. The New Zealand environment we biked was full of incredible beauty. The trip was perfectly planned with on-trail stops to regroup and have breaks and lunch together; and very nice accommodations and evening meals together and activities. Rental bikes were very good quality and Harrry conducted daily maintenance checkups on the bikes. I had an E bike and I think that is definitely the way to go. It allows you to spend more time looking around and less time trying to figure out which gear to be in to climb the next hill. Just WOW‼️ dale from South Carolina, USA

I have traveled a lot with different upscale travel groups, mostly active hiking or biking. This was my first experience with 57 hrs. It was fabulous. Small group of jovial international folks, individual attention, great guide, a fun experience. I will definitely travel with 57 hours again.

I respect there cancellation policy

I respect there cancellation policy, but I was diagnosed with cancer and needed to cancel my trip 4 months in advance. This is an uncontrollable event and they would not work with me for any Finicial return at all. I understand the guides and everything else but I am sure my place will be filled and I canceled as soon as I could. I feel when events in life happen that’s can’t be foreseeable there should be a little bit more understanding. Because if someone takes my place you are making money off of what I paid and getting double paid for the trip. I was unable to cancel within 48 hours cause I wasn’t diagnosed until a couple months after I would be willing to submit medical records but maybe you should evaluate your cancellation policy for situations like this

Sensational cycling and cultural experience in Shikoku

Sensational. The ride route was spectacular - the bridges ride at the start and rural Shikoku all stunning.. Some challenging bits, but manageable with the help and guidance provided. My wife and I were pleased we chose E-bikes, and I'd recommend them to anyone who is not a fairly strong rider. With E-bikes most riders would be fine. Great scenery and conditions. Sam has found many back roads/trails to largely avoid busy roads. The accommodation and food (dinners often multi-course banquets) were a real culinary and cultural experience. The level of organization, helpfulness and enthusiasm of the guides was first rate.

This was our first time using 57hours…

This was our first time using 57hours and we were pleasantly surprised. Incredible hospitality, expert cycling leadership and guidance and an experienced mechanic in support as well, this adventure was over the top. The accommodations were excellent and we enjoyed some of the best seafood dinners we have ever had in Japan. Shikoku is the road less traveled and we would highly recommend this trip. Hidden Japan Travels is a team worth using for Shikoku Japan.

Trip of a lifetime!

Wonderful trip to experience with my daughter. The hike challenged me in so many ways, but the feeling of accomplishment when we reached the summit of Mt Salkantay will stay with me forever. The pre-trek acclimation activities were awesome, we loved every minute. Except maybe the 6 hours downhill - my knees didn't love that lol.
Our guide Yaritza is local from Cusco, and so knowledgeable and passionate about Peru. I can't imagine doing this experience without a local guide. Our chef Modesto kept us well nourished with amazing meals on trail - I still can't believe the things he prepared for us! Damian, our horseman, transported our gear to each camp and helped Modesto in the camp kitchen. Everyone on this team was so supportive and kind, and really helped us experience Peru like a local. Being able to share this journey with my daughter made it a trip I will never forget. Thank you Crossover Peru and 57hours. I highly recommend, and look forward to booking more travel through 57hours.

An experience not to be missed

If you are at all considering this company's trips, just do it. Our 6-day Shimanami Kaido/Shikoku trip was a fabulous ride and an even more fabulous gastronomic experience. Immerse yourself in local Japanese cuisine. Seiji was an extremely conscientious and careful guide. He did everything possible to ensure our safety and comfort. He was in communication with Miho in a support vehicle, receiving and relaying info on traffic, where to pull over, etc. and Abe followed us to make sure we we safe from traffic and took care of all our bikes' needs. We look forward to another trip with Hidden Japan Travel
