The rudest customer service

This was the rudest customer service I’ve ever experienced over the phone. The agent was outright mean, impatient, and dismissive. My fianceé made a remark to me in the background because she couldn’t believe the tone either, and the agent then asked who it was in the background and to give her full name (which I did not provide). Why all of this? Because I made a polite request to resend my yearly tax form and reset my password that was linked to an old university email.

The next day my mother also had a similar experience over the phone with them.

I’ll certainly be pulling out my holdings and working with another company who actually values their customer experience. As someone in their early 30s, Computershare lost with me someone who could have been a life long investor.

Computershare is a for-profit scam

Computershare is, by far, one of the worst companies I deal with or have ever dealt with.

Forget about getting them on the phone and, after suffering through a mind-numbing alert system and finally getting someone on the phone, they are usually ill-trained and useless.

My father passed away a month ago and I am the executor assigned to distribute his assets per his wishes. As such, I was endeavoring to transfer his shares to me for distribution. Finally got a useless employee on the phone and she informed me of transfer forms that needed to be filled out and directed my to a company esignatureguarantee to get a medallion - this company turned out to be a scam and they charged me $141.55 and then did not provide the medallion. So Computerhare is part of a network of scam companies designed to bilk you out of money.

I go to a lawyer and finally a bank that can provide a medallion and notarization and mailed the documents. No response or notifications from Computershare so go through the mind-numbing voice alerts and get another useless employee and she informs me since I don’t have the original certificate I have yet another form to fill out and that form will cost me 3% and $80 totaling over $600.

Computershare is the worst of business, the worst of common decency, the worst of humanity.

Awful

The same forms are sent out each year despite Computershare having my bank details for dividend payment. They deducted me 20% administration fee despite the fact I had to chase with numerous emails and phone calls for information they already had on my online account. I was then told on phone they wouldnt deduct 20% but Computershare still deducted it from dividend.

If I could give a lower score I would

If I could give a lower score I would! Computershare made my online account Inactive for whatever reason. I then had to submit a Notarized Letter asking to reactive my account! I did that a couple of weeks ago and they still haven't reactivated. I also requested a name change to my married name on the account where I submitted a notarized copy of my marriage certificate and required documentation, NOTHING FROM THEM! I sent them a $50 check for my name change, they sure cashed that right away. Since this account is old, I submitted a Affidavit, along with a check for $214 stating that I lost my certificate/s for some of my shares. They cashed the check but nothing on placing my certificate shares into booked so I can sell them! This Company is HORRIBLE and will give you the run a round for weeks on end! DON'T USE THIS COMPANY TO BUY OR SELL STOCKS! YOU WILL REGRET IT!

incompetent financial institution

bought shares in Sept Using Capitec bank account, shares has increased past my sell margin tried to sell on 9th of october but computershare informed me they dont have my updated adress and bank details,so point 1 how is is possible to buy shares with a certain acxount but when you want to sell all of a sudden that same bank account cannot be used because it is not the banking details on system, I have not been using the account on their system for the past 17years, dont they check up on things like this?? anyway they informwd me to change my adress and bank details via the invester cwntre which i have done on 9th of october and call centre confirming receipt of docs and giving me an email with details saying new changes has been partially approved final changes should only take 48 hrs although the agent only said 24 hrs. 2nd point now on 15th of october i phoned again stating that I want to aell shares and they again advised me that changes has still not been made, so we are at 6 of 48hrs. i then explained that if prices fall and we as clients lose money due to them being incompetent with a samll thing like admin duties whi is responsable for the losses incurred?? they then kept quite and said they will phone me back after they change the details as they are now escalating the probelm that was 9 am,now at 14h30 i recieved a mail saying changes are succeafully made, I then phoned again and again they said no the old fnb account still shows now I must wait another 2 hrs. If I was investing millions and this was the aervice I am getting I would have lost thousands of rands due to incompetance this is piss poor for a financial institution, I want to report them to the FSB or ombud, dont do business with people and companies like this you cannot trust them

Incompetent —Avoid at All Costs

I’ve spent almost 6 months trying to resolve a simple account transfer. My Father passed away in March. He owned various stocks in Computershare and it has been a nightmare trying to transfer the stock and then cash them out for disbursement. This isn’t just one bad experience—it’s been multiple phone calls and has involved filling out multiple forms and mailing them in only to be denied.

Mom’s money is being held hostage!

My Mom is in her 80’s and has difficulty working with a computer. I assist with her online transactions and when we put in her log in information to access her account, the extra security step is a code that must be mailed, it takes 10 days to get to her! Also the code expires in 14 days and you have to go thru the process again. I don’t live near her and so we are now on our 5th mailing. We have begged customer service to email or text the code but they refuse. It’s as if her money is being held hostage. Horrible system. We called and tried to sell some stock and after 1.5 hours of waiting we hung up.

Terrible company.

Terrible company.
- They deserve a --zero-- for their ratings.
- It is hugely difficult to access this company on the internet, and over the phone as well.
- No matter where you hold your stocks, do NOT put them with Computershare.

Had an amount outstanding in credit…

Had an amount outstanding in credit that I would like to transfer to my bank account. After spoken with more than 8 (!)Call agents (from COMPUSHARE and EQUATEPLUS), being disconnected 3 times (!) instead of being transferred to their colleague, I finally managed to speak with Karmine who finally helped me to get my details set and with the assurance he would take care of the settlement!

They sold my stock without permission

They apparently managed stock for AEP. I missed two dividend payments and called them after AEP directed me to their customer servive. I had never heard of Computershare. They told me to got to missingmoney.com to recover my dividends. They did not tell me that they sold my stock and sent the funds to the state as unclaimed funds. Apparently they very much mistakenly considered my shares were abandoned. It's a long story, suffice to say that their behavior is inappropriate and disgraceful.

Computershare the broker

I want to add beneficiaries to my stocks. Computershare requires a Gold Medallion to add beneficiaries. My credit union doesn’t have the Gold Medallion & I don’t have a broker (actually Computershare should be considered my broker). So now the stocks have to be sent to Esignatureguarantee.com (at a huge expense & hassle) for the Gold Medallion! All this just to simply add beneficiaries.

Computershare US - Dole account customer service

Hi,
I needed advice about how to deal with a small shareholding in the Dole company - managed by Computershare. I am based in Ireland. My query was handled by representative named Arafat. Arafat was superb - he was really knowledgeable, patient, courteous etc. He was real gentleman - and solved my problem perfectly. I really appreciated the assistance from Arafat - could not have been better in any way. Excellent.
Thanks
George.
