The decline of a once great institution
The most absurd system trying to verify directors and submit documentation. The CH security system won’t allow me to change the way I receive security codes. When I enquire how to resolve the issue I’m told it’s my responsibility to submit the documentation. Utterly moronic.
Robbing scum
Prices through the roof now. £50 for a confirmation statement. Joke when they don’t even do anything you fill the form out yourself online
ZERO, ZERO, ZERO
Would give it ZERO. Unbelievably complex, illogical, impossible to follow and time consuming. I have lost the plot on the reason for doing it or for the value it is supposed to have. Having added my personal and private information in various places so many times to no avail it’s quite likely that the entire cloud is busy recycling my details for free. The apparent interplay between phones and tablets is unfathomable… I had to use my Partners phone to eventually get my code ( I think it was successful!). There is absolutely no chance that can possibly achieve full compliance using this system.
what a dreadful website
what a dreadful, poorly implemented website. tried to change details for secretary, director, person of control, went round in circles. date entered and updated did not get saved. A dark age experience. As someone who has spent decades working in IT and in the government sector I'm horrified to see such a poor user experience.
Would give zero if I could
Would give zero if I could, went through the face recognition, that didn't work, went to the post office, the staff there were quite happy I was who I said I was, took my photo etc etc. Then I received an email with a link to the site and was informed they could not verify my identity but could not give me any info as to why that was. I also found it very difficult navigating all the different sites. I have spent hours trying to complete the process. I would go so far as to say this is the worst most difficult site I have ever encountered.
Zero stars
Zero stars. Companyhouse‘s “public register“ means they put your data on google search for 20 years / permanently. Your dob, adress, nationality, too many details about business they put all over the internet publically for anyone and everyone to see, which can be massively detrimental for you. It‘s absolute bs and simply abusive that a British agency even allows this and doesn‘t protect their citizens at all. Furthermore they will send you fees/fines that are not clear stated. Absolute nightmare. Their customerservice is a tragedy. Zero zero zero stars for them. Don‘t use!!!!!!!!
ID verify not fit for purpose. Just spent 1hr trying to verify my ID…
Just spent 1hr trying to verify my ID on companies house website. It’s impossible! The system is not fit for purpose. Who designed this rubbish system, I need to bill them for wasting my time.
Dysfunctional identity verification process
The identity verification process for Companies House is dysfunctional, inoperable and is a total embarrassment. It sends you in loops that you can't escape from, occasionally showing a "Sorry we are experiencing technical difficulties". We've wasted hours trying to work out how to do it. We've managed to scan our IDs and faces, but we still don't have the illusive personal codes. So our Confirmation Statements will be late. But at this stage I am furious with the whole debacle and have given up.
ID verification is clunky and arcane
ID verification is clunky and arcane. It is not fit for purpose and is wasting a lot time. We have been trying for over a month now without success.
This entire Companies House needs to be…
This entire Companies House needs to be closed down immediately and a couple of AI developers create a site and a workflow that does far better than over 2000 of the most inefficient pen pushers can currently deliver.
The website, paperwork, lack of any sort of customer service and the most archaic inefficient systems and processes in the world is just laughable.
If I could give this a -100 I would, but unfortunately the score only goes down to 1.
If you ever want a master class in how not to run an organisation, this is it. Absolute waste of space.
Customer service assistant was…
Customer service assistant was terrible. Gave me the wrong information and then hung up.
Nasirah was a fabulous help
Nasirah was a fabulous help. She was very helpful and then personally talked me through what I needed to do - definitely 5 stars!
Wish I could give a score of -5
Wish I could give a score of -5.
Absolute waste of time, people working there are all useless, inefficient and incompetent. They don't know anything , only answer they give is it is on the system and wait for next few days or weeks.
They are rude and most unhelpful.
CH has thousands of forms , they need to simplify the system. Needs thorogh reform.
Wonder if the reviews get seen by anyone at all or we are wasting our time.
I logged a complaint since 27th…
I logged a complaint since 27th November 2025 and anytime i call to follow up i am put on hold for over an hour. Very poor agents who dont take the responsibility or even attend to you. All I get is automated emails. A joke really
This is the worst government process I…
This is the worst government process I have experienced. I am just trying to change a dob and had to fill in 2 bits of paper, one of which ask for the month and year of birth on one page and the day month of year on the next page.
They rejected it twice. No wonder the state has so many employees.
I find many of the Gov websites good, but this one.
I find many of the Gov websites good. I have no trouble submitting tax returns, taxing my car. But, Companies House, how can this be so bad?
I've been trying, literally all day, to login to my account so that I can make some urgent changes to my company. Emails don't arrive, the new GOV.UK One Login just seems pointlessly complicated and broken. After not being able to login I've been told to wait 30 minutes to try again. 2 hours later and I get the same message. I phone for support and encountered one of the rudest 'helpers' ever. No wonder she was stressed trying to placate countless frustrated users of a poorly designed and implemented system.
I've been waiting over 25 minutes on the phone and someone has just told me: "Sorry the website has a lot of traffic today, try again tomorrow". At the beginning of the call there was an option to leave feedback at the end of the call which I selected. Needless to say, so such opportunity was given at the end of the call.
Awful, awful website and service.
Director's Personal Code isn't showing on Companies House Website - can't file without it!
Filing a confirmation statement in 2024 = pretty straight forward and painless.
Filing a confirmation statement in 2025 = a 2 day process involving circling the three different websites to (1. One Login, 2. Companies House and 3. Web Filing) and generally not getting anywhere.
Managed to verify my ID and then had to use a Directors Personal Code to file my confirmation statement. But the personal code had not been provided and wasn't listed on my Companies House account. Left it a day hoping it would be emailed to me - nope. Checked the 'manage account' section of the Companies House website again the following day - still nothing.
I tried closing the browser, logging out, clearing the cache and cookies, using a different browser, logging in on my phone, on a laptop - nothing, nothing, nothing!
The online service isn't even performing at 1 star right now.
Only giving 2 stars as once I eventually got through on the phone (20min wait) the two people I spoke to were sympathetic and efficient at helping me obtain my personal code so I could finally file this year's confirmation statement.
ID verification service is a joke
ID verification service is a joke. Round in circles and seems like it's deliberately complicated.
Companies House are going to lose me £2,000 because they are not replying to emails and their phonelines don't function
A few months ago I won a claim in the small claims court against a company and I am currently pursuing enforcement action to retrieve the £2,000 he owes me. His business priority seems to have changed, he's opened up two new businesses and hasn't submitted the paperwork for the one I am claiming against and there is an active proposal to strike off. I sent in an objection to the strike off on this basis, submitting all of my court letters as evidence. I received an email response from Companies House saying this objection had been rejected because I didn't include the 'Ltd' in the company title, except I did and I have an email receipt from Companies House from when I submitted the objection stating I did. I replied saying I had included the 'Ltd' and they replied saying I hadn't. I replied again, this time with a screenshot of the email receipt showing I had included the Ltd, but have not received a response. I tried calling several times, but each time it says that they are busy and the call ends without even putting me on hold. I am going to lose £2,000 here if this isn't resolved.
Your director ID check is rubbish and…
Your director ID check is rubbish and wasted half hour of my time leaving me frustrated. Unbelievable, firstly laptop, then phone, then laptop. Computer says no! Went back to laptop and asking some security questions; how much of your personal loan is owed - what loan my first M&S loan, the 2nd or Covid interruption loan, then another question. What do you pay car insurance each month, I don't I pay in full, wtf! Failed!
