Rude estate agents

Rude estate agents, as soon as they hear about the property address just hang up the phon. Not once, every time. If not happy to have inquires about a property , just not advertise it .

Clive Watkin Partnership Estate Agents…

Clive Watkin Partnership Estate Agents - Prenton. Have been communicating with Matt Swanwick, the branch manager who was a great help in organising valuations and quickly came back to me with all information required. Quick, great and profession service. Would highly recommend.

Avoid! They don't get back to you

I phoned about a property to rent, within seconds of it being listed. I was placed on a list and was told I would be contacted when viewings would start. I phoned 3 times over 20 days, each time being told tenants hadn't given them a day yet. I phoned on the 24th day since placing my initial interest only to be told an application has been submitted. The lady said they mustn't had got to my name yet! What? I phoned within seconds of it being listed! Mad is not the word, very poor communication, clearly favour specific clients. will avoid any properties listed by them in future!

Shocking customer service as a landlord…

Shocking customer service as a landlord - had no interest in communicating any issues arising from the tenant despite paying for a full service management fee. Called the branch multiple times, promised call backs and hear nothing. Let themselves into my property to complete the check in report before I’d moved out & without my knowledge resulting in an inaccurate report which has now been used against me in a deposit dispute. Would stay clear of Clive Watkin - shocking service & a complete lack of communication and interest in your property.

This is for Clive Watkin Bromborough. Helped me through a difficult time, staff don't just deal with your house sale they always ask how you are. Very professional, impeccable customer service. They never failed to call me back or keep me informed. They conducted most of my viewings. Cannot recommend them enough.

Ellesmere Port, Little Sutton

If you're considering using Clive Watkin Sales and Letting Agents in the area, I would strongly advise caution. In my experience, their approach to selling houses in the local market left much to be desired.

In my view, they tend to overvalue and overprice properties. For instance, they valued a house based on a neighboring property, which is widely regarded in the area as being overpriced. That neighboring house has been on the market for nearly two years without selling, and it happens to be owned by another estate agent. When I inquired if Clive Watkin had obtained a RICS valuation, they were unable to provide one and responded negatively when I questioned their valuation.

When I placed an offer on a different property, the agents seemed defensive and insisted on knowing how I arrived at my valuation. This pattern occurred with multiple properties I considered through them. I also got the impression that they were providing information about the sellers and the market that may not have been entirely accurate, creating a sense of urgency that didn't align with the actual market conditions.

I felt they misrepresented critical details about properties, such as rights of access. For example, they claimed a house with a shared driveway was private, which they said justified an additional £100,000 on the price. However, after reviewing the deeds myself, I found that the driveway was not private, and only a right of access was granted, not ownership.

In another situation, I felt pressured to take financial advice from their in-house mortgage broker to prove I could afford a house. It seemed like they were trying to gather details about my private finances while pushing financial products onto me. This was particularly concerning since the estate agents themselves are not qualified financial professionals.

I also encountered an agent trying to sell a house at £100,000 over what I believed to be the market value, citing a "fridge freezer" as a unique feature. In reality, the house required a complete renovation. Other agents I spoke with in the area confirmed that Clive Watkin’s listings are overpriced by a significant margin.

After placing an offer on a property and expressing my willingness to negotiate, I never heard back from the agent. Interestingly, that house was later reduced by £30,000 on Rightmove. It made me wonder whether my offer was ever communicated to the seller.

If you place a lower offer, don’t expect them to reach out—they might even label you as rude for explaining your reasoning. I’ve observed them listing properties at high prices, even when the houses need significant work. Some properties have remained unsold for nearly 12 months and have seen price reductions of over £40,000.

If you prefer to list your house at a high price in a challenging market, Clive Watkin might be an option. Otherwise, I recommend considering an estate agent with more experience and transparency.

Don’t use the Ellesmere Port branch

Let my property through Clive Watkin. They let it to the first applicant that showed any interest and what a shambles since then. Constant issues with no support and an “oh dear I’m sorry to hear that” attitude rather than doing anything helpful. They will never inspect the property (great news to cannabis farmers!) even when you show concerns. They will expect YOU to go there and sort everything for them and they just collect the rent and chase new customers to meet targets. They follow nothing up despite being ‘fully managed’ so you’ll have to be running the show yourself I’m afraid. They couldn't organise a chimps tea party honestly.
If you raise a concern they escalate it to their repair centre and then turn it back on you as though you are in the wrong and must fix all these issues immediately which means you feel you can’t communicate for fear of bills and hassle off Clive Watkin themselves (even if you report something, eg mould) so you just wait to be rid of them and bite your tongue because they act as though they are the tenants defence lawyer or something and you are a slumlord. You work for me Clive Watkin! Well not anymore thank god. The tenants they found were terrible but I’m mostly relieved to have rid of such incompetence.

A year later my let property is in a terrible state. The tenants didn’t leave when due. And I was told they hadn’t found anywhere yet, when I asked (the manager) to be kept up to date 5 weeks later I receive a call telling me the tenant has now dropped the keys off? So now I have to drop everything while the kids are off school and try and sort this mess out. £3500 quote for the decorating alone and will I receive any help off this Joke of a Company? Thanks for a stressful 12 months and practically zero income Clive Watkin!

Excellent customer service by Amy

Amy, took time to explain the details about the property during viewing and the affordable ways Clive Watkins operates which made me interested in the property. Everything went on smoothly during documenting and finalizing agreements.

Rented my property out with Clive…

Rented my property out with Clive Watkin Rental Department for 17 years and always very efficient in taking their monthly payment. When selling the property, thinking this would speed up the process, absolutely wrong. Absolutely no loyalty and efficiency. After 4 months still no sale of the property.

Tenancy Deposit Issues

The company held a tenancy deposit for a property we rented in Thornton Liverpool. Upon leaving the property, it has taken a month for them to release the deposit and they have managed to tweak the terms a number of times for the release of the payment and have really dragged out the process leaving a bitter taste
