Interest rates are good but no app?
Interest rates are good but no app?
They're owned by Santander who have a great mobile app - surely it wouldn't be hard?!

If you’re a Santander customer, it’s EXACTLY the same as online banking on the web (not app) with them.
Easy to log in, easy to transfer money, easy to manage the platform. (Exactly the same as Santander, but in purple).
Shame they don’t have an app, but I’m sure it will come.
Easy to set up and use
I found setting up and using easy. The interest rates are good and you simply go on the website and apply for an account. That took only a few minutes. I got an email confirming the account details. A few days later I got two letters. One with a temporary password and one with a temporary number. Yes you have to scratch off to reveal these but that is hardly difficult. I then signed in and set up my passwords etc. Its been easy to send money both to and from the account. Signing in does need a code being sent to your phone but the overall online system is very similar to the Santander one. I did send a secure message with a query to customer services and got a reply the next day. Overall I've had a positive experience so far.
Awful bank.
Awful bank.
Terrible user interface / user experience on their online banking.
Endless waits on their fraud line, during which you're locked out of your own money listening to insulting messages about how you can "save time by using online banking" — when the only reason you're calling is that they have locked you out of online banking.
I would not touch this bank with a barge pole in future. Avoid avoid avoid.
Did I forget to say "avoid"?
Avoid.
I wish I had read these reviews before…
I wish I had read these reviews before opening a savings account with Cahoot. Like others, I have been locked out of my account for apparently entering an incorrect pincode (I don't think I did). I have been sent new codes by post, but these will take 4-6 days+ to arrive. I can pass security on the phone (they have confirmed this) but they will still not allow my to access my funds.
Hassles of opening a savings account
I recently opened a savings acount. I've transferred money in to it, but I have no way of verifying if they've received it as their online system wouldn't accept my phone number. I think I know my number. They advertise a free phone number but it's always 'temporarily' out of action. All I want to do is confirm that they've got my money. Give me strength.

I really wish I’d looked at the reviews before opening this account — I only tried it because I saw it advertised on Martin Lewis.
Opening the account was fine, and logging in the first time worked too. But as soon as I transferred money in, I was immediately locked out of my account.
I called customer service, who told me to visit my local Santander branch. The branch said they couldn’t help and told me to call back. When I called again, I was told to post copies of my passport and driving licence to verify my identity.
Three weeks later — no update, still blocked from accessing my own money. Then, out of nowhere, I received new login details in the post. I finally logged in, only to be blocked again the moment I tried to withdraw my money.
After multiple calls, they said the account was “blocked for security reasons” and to “try again in a few days.” It still didn’t work. On my final call, they agreed to close the account and release my funds over the phone.
Thank goodness it’s over.
Avoid this service — unreliable, frustrating, and a complete waste of time.

Like many others I find it a bit of a faff getting to my account but I’ve mastered it now, in pretty speedy time. Great interest rates at the moment too.
No app. Old fashioned. Slow.
No app. So many steps to login online. Everything feels very old fashioned. Autocorrect typed my name wrong and they have no way to change it without verification of my ID...which they can't do online or with secure messages or email. I need to go to a library and photocopy stuff and mail it to them in the post? It's 2025. Update!
Blocked my new account from…
Blocked my new account from transferring money back to myself for savings. Waited ten mi utes when calling the number to unblock, just to be transferred to another department and wait another 10 mins, for them to say they need to call me back in five mins. No app, totally antiquated. Ridiculous security questions like how did I find out my sort code and account number?
🚨Do not use the savings account!
🚨Do not use the savings account!
Antiquated systems and horribly paper based. In 2025 it is shocking that a bank needs to send you letters to open internet banking.
Cahoot blocked my withdrawal and froze my internet banking for having the audacity with withdraw funds to the same bank account that I used to deposit funds despite having made prior withdrawals to the same account. I now have to call them despite being ill and having no voice.
Revolut is decades ahead of these guys. 🤡
Easy to set up an account
Easy to set up an account. Got the log in details through the post quickly. I was quite happy to receive them through the post. Was able to transfer funds in easily. I have rung customer services once, they answered the call quickly and were very helpful. So overall I can't fault them. Interest rates much better than anywhere else, which is why I set up the account
You can't close the account
You can't close the account. They tell you to reply to their message but there is no reply option. No-one answers the phone.
Attracted by a good saving rate
Attracted by a good saving rate
Applied and it took 5 working days to get 2 letters with the old fashioned data request of ID and ref numbers
Logged in and set up on the same day as the 2nd (late) letter arrived - great.
I have been trying to deposit money ever since from another account.
Rang them - your account is blocked and with "security dept" WTF - its a savings account ! I don't want to take money out - I want to put it in!
Rang them - oh please wait 24 hours and it will be fixed - now 72 hours later and still no access. On hold to the complaint dept - "please wait - it can take up to 20 minutes to answer"
What a joke of a company !
I suggest you look elsewhere - even if a slightly lower saving rate.
An Update
Some 8 days after opening my account, I was finally able to pay money in. Thank you to the most helpful "Colleen" (whose name I forgot to note) for taking the trouble to ring me saying my account was now fully functional.
I experienced no difficulty setting the online banking process up, having received their two letters with passwords/codes etc.
Good interest rates but clunky website.
I have recently opened 2 accounts with cahoot based on class leading interest rates. Found it strange having to access security information by scratching panels from 2 separate letters. Very retro! The OTP codes also I think are needlessly complex ... a combination of 8 letters and numbers. Other providers send me either a 4 number or 6 number OTP code. Surely good enough security. I find it the hardest savings website to negotiate on a mobile. The Santander website is much easier to use.
Do not respond to secure messages
I have an account with Cahoot. I have sent 2 secure messages since 6th September and have not received any response 😡
Terrible
I opened an account with Cahoot in mid august and, over a month later, I still can’t access it. They rely on sending temporary passwords by post, which keeps failing. The password letter never arrived, and when I asked for a resend, then the letter turned up but was already invalid because I already requested another one.
I’m still waiting for a usable password, which means I haven’t been able to access my account at all. Despite the good interest rate, the outdated process and poor experience make me want to cancel my account entirely.
Absolutely rubbish service and…
Absolutely rubbish service and backwards technology: I would not recommend.
