Customers frequently praise the incredibly professional, highly punctual, and polite drivers who always ensure very comfortable journeys and gladly assist customers with heavy luggage. Travelers also appreciate the remarkably smooth and straightforward online booking system, which makes organizing rides very easy and reliable for everyone. I’d book again but check what the car takes.

Easy to book, had a problem as soon as booked, as website said 5 people and 3 bags, so presumed as airport transit would be 3 suitcases, but got a message “ MPV5 Car (Vauxhall Zafira or Similar) Can carry 4 people with 2 check-in suitcases and 2 cabin-size hand luggage.” But was sorted out once discussed by text.
Driver Faruqe picked us up, communicated with us so well for how to find him and was a real gentleman to my family, he made up for any early problems.

1 star — Incorrect facts, unsuitable vehicle, late driver and refusal to refund

I strongly advise other customers to read the booking correspondence carefully before using Britannia Airport Cars.

I booked an airport transfer in advance for five passengers — myself, my wife and our three children.

The booking correspondence clearly records 5 passengers. There were 4 checked suitcases and 3 pieces of hand luggage.

At the beginning of the booking process, I specifically requested an MPV-6. Britannia Airport Cars then asked for the number of passengers and luggage, discussed the booking with me, quoted the price and proceeded with the booking.

The driver then arrived approximately 30 minutes late, and the vehicle provided was too small for our passengers and luggage.

I complained to the company and requested a refund.

What is particularly concerning is what happened afterwards.

Instead of addressing the actual problem, the company claimed that there had been 6 passengers.

This is completely false.

There were five passengers. Exactly five.

I have the complete WhatsApp correspondence with the company, including the original booking discussion and the passenger and luggage information I provided. The written evidence directly contradicts their claim.

I have asked them to explain where the information about six passengers came from, but instead of providing evidence from the actual booking, they are attempting to rely on a version of events that is contradicted by their own correspondence.

This is not simply a disagreement about the quality of a journey. It is a dispute about basic facts that are documented in writing.

The company also arrived late and provided a vehicle that was not suitable for the booking requirements that had been communicated to them.

I am therefore requesting a full refund.

I have retained the complete booking correspondence, payment documentation and evidence relating to the vehicle supplied. I will provide these documents to the relevant authorities and platforms where appropriate.

I have also seen other recent customer reviews describing similar problems involving vehicle size, delays and disputes over refunds. I cannot say that those cases prove a pattern, but the similarity is concerning.

I will not use Britannia Airport Cars again.

I recommend that anyone considering booking with this company carefully checks the vehicle category and keeps screenshots of the entire booking conversation.

My complaint is based on documentary evidence, not speculation. The correspondence speaks for itself.

Endless lies, threatening messages and an awol driver who breaks the law

If I could give this company 0 stars, it would be too many.

We booked to take our group of four from Gatwick South to our home in central London. We selected an estate car that said it carried four people and four bags. Booking confirmation was received and payment taken.

Shortly after I started being hounded by Whatsapp messages from the company, suggesting that we needed to upgrade to a people carrier. I explained that we had four small cabin bags, not four checked bags and that, as stated on their website, an estate car would be absolutely fine.

They continued to harass me for nearly half an hour, until they eventually realised I wasn't biting and said the original booking would be completely fine, as promised. They said we would be messaged an hour before the pick up time with drivers' details.

When we landed and I checked my messages, there was no message from the company at all. I messaged them to chase and had an automated message telling me to meet at the designated point (but with no details of where that point was).

They finally sent me the drivers name and number via whatsapp - I sent him a message, but had no reply. As pick up time approached I called him to find out where the designated meeting spot was. He answered and seemed very confused and didn't speak great English but confirmed the pick up time.

We made an assumption that he would meet us at the express pick up point, made our way there and shared our location with him. He messaged 3 minutes before pick up to say that was fine and he would meet us there no problem.

When he didn't arrive at the allotted time I asked for his reg number to we could spot him arrive. He messaged to say there were road closures and he was "coming from the countryside"

He then admitted that he had lied, and he was still more than 30 mins away. We called him and he was making very little sense, rambling and muttering. He agreed to send us his location pin and it turned out he was on the M20 heading in completely the wrong direction.

It became clear at this point that the original threatening upselling messages were symptomatic of a bigger scam. It was clear that they hadn't even identified a driver for us until I chased them when we landed, that he was much too far away and that he was never going to turn up on time - and that the office must have known that all along. I suspect because we didn't bite at the upselling scam they just didn't bother dealing with our booking.

We tried and failed to find a number for the main office but no one picked up so we decided, given how late it was and with kids to get home, to give up and catch an Uber. I messaged the main account to request a full refund.

They then suddenly realised they did have a phone and called and said they would find us another driver and demanded we cancel our Uber. Given they had failed to find the first driver and clearly had no idea where he was, we didn't think this was a viable alternative, we weren't prepared to wait another half an hour and said not to bother and that we would like a refund.

Shortly after, we were finally sent the original driver detail confirmation email - more than an hour after it should have been received - which I believe indicates that they driver was never even properly attached to the booking in the first place.

There followed another nearly 30 minutes of threatening messaging where he revealed that the driver in question had previously been fined for using his phone while driving which we then considered a lucky escape, particularly with our kids in the car.

He finally sent a new "driver confirmation" email nearly half an hour after the booked collection time despite us repeatedly saying that we did not want a replacement driver, that we had been forced to find alternative transport and that we wanted a full refund.

He claimed a refund was not possible because he had just booked and paid the driver.

In short, don't touch this company with a bargepole. They harass you for more money, send threatening messages, leave you stranded and have admitted in writing that their drivers are not safe to be on the road.

And for what it's worth, the Uber we picked up there and then was £20 cheaper than the so called service these guys are selling - don't waste your money!

Professional airport transfer service

Both legs of our airport transfer were handled professionally and efficiently. We particularly appreciated that they proactively confirmed our booking 24 hours beforehand, and that they handled our requirements to ensure there was enough space for our family of five plus luggage without fuss and no upsell to a larger vehicle than we needed. Both drivers - Nicholas on the way there and Noman on the way back - were on time, courteous and helpful. Would use them again, recommended.

Be very careful with their misleading website

We Booked for a family of 4 with 4 suitcases, they turned up with a small car not even able to fit in 2 cases in. And the driver had his bags in the boot.
Leaving a family stranded to get to another airport for our next flight..the driver was extremely apologetic and said he had asked them to confirm that we didn’t have 4 cases as he saw the booking. We’d had WhatsApp conversations with them and told them it was 4 people 4 suitcases they tried to get us to buy another care despite the booking saying 4 luggage. So I requested they refund either ensure we fit 4 cases 4 passengers or refund us as their website is misleading. They’re refusing to refund us, so having to consult with our card company and considering further action if we miss our connecting flight. My advice… avoid these.
