Brighton & Hove City Council Reviews 

Simple.......the Green led council don't listen to what the MAJORITY of their constituents actually want. That is Primarily getting rid of the cycle lanes which is causing havoc, ruining tourism and businesses due to making it so difficult to travel to, in or through.

My upstairs council neighbor is ruining our life for 2.5 years now.. Brighton and Hove council just stop talking to us recently and they will do nothing about it... we have no hopes anymore.. wish they could come and spend a few nights in our flat, just try how sleepless nights feels!

Shocking visit to Brighton. The traffic, rubbish and pollution etc. The good the bad and the ugly as I call it. Needed- Big Park and ride car parks outside town with good bus service, a congestion charge, pedestrianised areas. Large rubbish bins regularly emptied. Some deep cleaning needed and business ordered to repair and paint their exterior buildings. Ugly dilapidated buildings knocked down and green areas planted. More greenery and plant containers round train station and town centre. That’s for starters...

If someone said they were pro pollution and congestion, and hated people and business they couldn't of done a better job convincing me.

Awful service from the council. Recycling collection is a joke. Constantly missing the collection, when they do collect they leave the recycling bin at the entrance to the close, often drop items but don’t pick them up. Report on their website but nothing happens. I don’t see a reduction in my council tax though!

the greens have for years been systematically forcing Disabled residents out of the town by banning blue badge holders from being able to get anywhere near the shops, beaches or places of interest we wish to visit, they have blocked & narrowed near enough every road in the town creating traffic jams everywhere in doing so increasing pollution & travel times for all, they have removed many disabled parking bays as a method of ridding the town of those less able than themselves to the point many have been forced to leave the town they were born, brought up & worked in, they only care for the fit, pretty on posters types in lycra & on cycles, they are the worst thing ever to happen to Brighton, they have spunked MILLIONS of tax payers money on so many things that do not & NEVER could have worked, yet they cannot even keep the place clean, it is dirty, smelly, over priced & unfriendly because of their setting one group upon another to distract people from what they are doing, they do not listen to residents, they lie & cheat at every move, they only got elected by transient student double voters that they pander to like a dodgy 'Uncle' fresh out of Broadmoor you wouldn't trust you children with, they have banned historic events that have been happening here for well over 100 years, gone under them are the Speed Trials, the Pioneer run, the VW run, The MG run, The Land Rover Run, The Jaguar Run, the Commercial vehicle run, Brightona, the Ace Cafe Brighton Burnup, The Old Crocks race, etc etc etc, they have destroyed century's old flora as well as allowing listed buildings & structures to fall into disrepair so they can then be pulled down to build modern projects for money, please, avoid the place & have no business with the council, there are many better places along the south coast where the disabled & tourists alike are catered for, Growing up there & living in Brighton for 60 years, I must say It used to be a great place to live, but sadly not now under the green/labour s k a n k s rule, look towards Worthing, Eastbourne, Bournemouth, Hastings, anywhere but Brighton, it's now a disgusting dirty, Venal place, Avoid it like you have avoided Covid.

I’m a Brightonian. I have a shop on Madeira Drive. The Greens and Labour have turned Brighton into a huge traffic jam. I was stupid enough to have voted for them.

Sadly this council do not listen to the residents that live here. They are driven by ideology and have little knowledge regarding economics a,md very disconnected from the real world we live in. They make multiple foreseeable and therefore avoidable mistakes resulting in massive financial mismanagement of revenues and frankly causing chaos by their policies. They refuse to listen to common sense and even worse ignore and stick two fingers up to the residents and insist on carrying on regardless

Brighton has become chaos with trying to work and earn a living as a tradesmen.

Areas of the city are currently £24 a day to park for 8 hours. As a tradesmen this is a huge cost. Or the alternative from the council is to pay £1000 l per year for a permit that only lets you park from 9-5 in permit holder pays. God forbid your job runs over a hour!.

Yes there is a £300 a year parking permit for tradesmen with eco friendly vehicles... But most tradesmen can't afford a 60K electric van with no where to charge.

Just avoid this dying city. Or come back when the green party have left.

Remember.. green stands for money with this council... Not the environment.

The council is turning a once great tourist attraction into a ghost town.
The streets are strewn with rubbish, tourists are no longer welcome, businesses that depend on visitors will go bust, the road infrastructure is ridiculous with just one lane of traffic in and out of the city centre. Parking, if you can find it, is ridiculously expensive.
Roads and pavements are now for cyclists with some pavement impassable for wheel chair users and families with push chairs.
I’m Brighton born and bred and for the first time in my life I want move away.

The whole of brighton is just a complete disaster. You cannot drive anywhere in brighton and a lot of my trips are too and from the hospital with my son for medical appointments. Parking anywhere in brighton is just a joke and although I can understand wanting to make a greener city... the Green Party have done the complete opposite and utterly ruined this city. Getting to work even on a bus is a joke. I think some serious rectifying of the work they seemed to have got away with needs to happen. I work in a hospital and ambulance staff themselves are at their wits ends driving to jobs and driving to the hospital. Brighton is not a city you want to visit anymore never mind wanting to live in.

Born and raised in Brighton and was once proud, now I'm ashamed of what it has become thanks to the Greens and there band of Marxist cronies. I made a choice to move to Eastbourne which was thought as the poor relation and I'm so glad I did. If you want to shop go to Crawley and park all day for 4 quid and if like the sea go to Eastbourne as it's cleaner without the constant stench of Cannabis.

The council need to spend money on public toilets in this city. They are absolutely disgusting everywhere. Today we spent the day in the kings road playground and EVERY toilet was blocked, no soap, no toilet roll. In the middle of a pandemic too. Just not good enough. This is not a one off either, I feel like my children need a Dettol bath every time we leave a public toilet!

Dont even deserve the one star, its shameful what they have done to the once beautiful city, they have ruined the place to the point that if alowed to continue it will become a ghost town as people will not bother coming to this once iconic city.

This council have destroyed this city who would want to come to a city where shops are closed as the rates and rent is ridiculous, parking if you can find it is so expensive you need a mortgage and the rubbish is horrid. The lovely flower displays of the past are gone and a load of weeds planted for the bees and butterflies ( who seemed to cope for the last 100 years) such a shame I love this city for its inclusivity and diversity but it now leaves a bad taste in your mouth and your wallet

Green Council have destroyed this City....cycle lanes that no one wanted causing severe congestion getting into Brighton and on seafront....very poor amount of parking and if you do find a space....you will need a second mortgage for parking fees ......stay well clear until the Greens can be voted out

If possible I would give zero stars as there is nothing this council does well. I've lived in Brighton for over 50 years under councils of all colours but this bunch are the worst ever. The town is filthy, they have created congestion by blocking roads and putting in hardly used cycle lanes. They are supposed to be "green" but destroyed a green wall and recycle far less than many other councils. They claim to "consult" but only do so with known supporters. They spend huge amounts of council time on issues that are not relevant to Brighton & Hove. Terrible bunch.

The council are ruining the city. Brighton is grubby and the traffic flow into town is tedious. You'll have the joy of traffic queues all the way from the motorway, then get to struggle through the complex traffic system followed by the arduous task of finding the most expensive parking outside London. Once in the city you'll be struck by the growing army of homeless people and the mounds of rubbish everywhere. The council are ignoring the tax payers and local business objections to road planning changes and complaints about how filthy the city is in favour of a blinkered ideological Green Party agenda which is ruining the city's economy and increasing pollution due to poor planning and terrible waste collection contracts. Possibly the worst city council in the UK.

The Green Party is a failure.

Green Brighton now ranks 302nd out of 326 councils for its recycling record. The problem is a mix of poor information, a strange recycling collection programme open to abuse, and ceaseless disruptions to the service that mean people have given up trying to do ‘the right thing’.

Brighton transport policy looks like it has been designed by a radical teenage cyclist with no appreciation for real world issues such as delivery drivers, commuters, school runs and emergency services. We now have one lane of traffic running from the new pier to central Hove and 2 cycle lanes. No park and ride scheme adds insult to injury.

Madiera drive has been left to rot and be pilfered by thieves for the lead.

The i360 is going to cost the local taxpayers approx £25 million for this collosal failure and eyesore.

Crime is on the increase with county lines drug dealers moving into 'Easy touch Brighton.

Moved to Brighton for the third time. Wish I hadn’t bothered. What a dump. Rubbish everywhere, it’s like a giant car park with all the fumes from cars stuck in traffic due to cycle lanes. I like cycling but they are so unused.
Hopefully they get voted out ASAP.
