Worst customer service ever. I initially had contact via phone then the company representative separated from company and I wasn’t notified until I repeatedly tried contacting them. Then the worst customer service ever was experienced when the process was finally explained to me because my initial contact was just rough sizing to lock in price before the yearly increase note at this point nobody ever came out to physical location to discuss design options costing etc.. then after handoff everyone I heard from the Armstrong company gave me the stipulation of deadlines or I would not get quoted price. The erector they referred me to without liability was the worst and after multiple delays ended up with another who did a acceptable job but during all this time Armstrong by forcing me to do it to there schedule the product was placed on the site on the ground and by the time got erected it had dirt debris and surface rust due to the cheap protection from Armstrong.If they would have been cooperative with me and delayed delivery to when site was ready the quality overall would have been a better experience. I will never ever be doing business with Armstrong again and when asked by interested parties who have seen my building from street I 100% tell them NEVER do business with Armstrong

The building came out pretty good, but the sales process was not truthful, and the project manager is really only there to up sell additional items the sales person either left out, or did not explain proactively.

The building had two brackets miss installed and they did not react fast enough to keep the building on time and progressing with my contractor, This caused one vertical post to be angled, and the other to be cut off and rewelled with out their help.

They say they will help with the permitting process, they we no help to understand that process just provided signed plans, but that was not what the sales person said, he said they provide the plans and help walk me through the permitting process, not true agIn

Overall I did not put the Armstrong placard on the building, and would not go back for a second building

Roof girt material was shipped in incorrectly delaying construction by 3 months. Finally got the material which was purchased 30 miles from my location. Horrible lack of concern for my delay. No way I will recommend them based on the material issues. The building and instructions
were fine. Tell Armstrong Building to KMA.

This was our first time buying a steel building and the many costs involved after the building purchase were never discussed with us while we were trying to decide what building to buy and the cost involved to complete this job. After the down payment and some research the cost figures were very high and no way to cancel the purchase. One bid to install the concrete pad and assemble the building was over $160,000, which doesn't include the cost of the building. Then the inside needs finished insulation, electrical, doors, and heating and air.
Some input from Armstrong on the total cost would have been very helpful. It appears that selling the building is their only interest! I will never recommend Armstrong Steel Buildings to anyone!

We had a horrible experience with Armstrong Steel. We will never use them again, and we will share our bad experience with anyone who asks for the rest of our lives.

Instructions are incredibly complicated to understand without an engineering degree. Between the plans and the erection manual it’s possible but very difficult to understand what goes where. Some diagrams so small it’s almost impossible to understand them.

Their sales pitch tells you planning permission is certain on top of all the other falsehoods they state. So our city would not approve the building in specified location we told them, so we found another location. This gave Armstrong a reason to add engineering charges for no apparent change in weather conditions. After 6 months, the building arrives, all the upright steel is rusted and most parts are just heaped on a flatbed.
Top rail of roof is not shaped to the contour of the roof panels, they use foam inserts to fill the holes, so how long will it be before rain is blowing in. Side rails were too short and if it was not for the expertise of our erection crew, this would of been a sorry excuse for a building

To further explain, I purchased a building from Armstrong at the end of last year where the Salesman told me multiple times that the building would be AISC certified. I was at omit about verifying the certification as I am erecting the structure in San Luis Obispo California where the county building department requires the AISC certification to pass plan inspections.

The original quote for my building clearly states that “Every Armstrong Building is AISC certified”. They will tell the buyer after the fact that they only said they build to AISC guideline but clearly the documentation shows a different claim. With this proof of certification, I felt comfortable purchasing the building knowing that it was certified by a reputable association such as AISC.

Now when I ask them for the certification they are telling me they actually do not have a certification with AISC. Instead they are now claiming to the buyer (Me and likely others) that they are in the final process of receiving their certification through AISC.

Currently working with AISC certification Administrator to verify they truly are in that process or not. Highly unlikely.

I don’t expect AISC to get involved in our dispute by any means but I do feel obligated, for the protection of future buyers of their buildings, to know up front that the Armstrong building that they are going to purchase in not AISC certified as claimed in their quote to me. I also don’t believe a company like this is representing all of what AISC has worked so hard to be and is the reason for this communication.

The issue I am having now is that my county building and planning department is in need of a certification prior to approving my erection of the building. As Armstrong cannot come through on their promise I now have to hire a third party inspector, pay him out of my pocket to inspect the welds and quality of the beams, and cross my fingers that they will actually pass to the AISC specifications.

The second issue was the quality of the rigid frame columns and rafter coatings. As the building was fabricated in Colorado it had to be trucked out to California. I asked for them to send me pictures of the loaded trailer prior to leaving so I could be prepared to unload once at the site. The pictures showed my building sitting outside partially covered in snow. When it arrived and started to unload I noticed that most all of the beams were rusted through, primer flaking off as they sprayed over oil and debris and areas with no primer coating whatsoever. Armstrong's excuse (always an excuse putting it back on the customer) was there are no guarantees on the primer and it was caused by the road salt which they are not responsible for. Their solution was to send me a 5 gallon bucket of primer. Really! I would have to completely sand down their shotty workmanship which I have no clue how to do, I would then have to re primer some 50+ beams which I don't have the equipment not the talent to do. The quote I got was for $7+k to sand, clean paint, use forklift to rotate and repeat. Remember I just spent close to $120k on this building and this is what I am dealing with.

I am not just some angry customer that feels I was taken advantage. And I am not one to typically complain but please pay close attention to what I have written in this review and make your own decision on who you have to fabricate your metal building.

The last thing I wanted to do is have to write a negative review on any company I deal with but this one is a easy given as from the first call to them up to now has been the most painful relationship I have ever had with a company.

Their CEO has a mission statement on their website that would lead you to believe that this is the company you want to deal with. The problem is without any contact information to be found there is no way to inform him of the issues and bad customer support I've received
so likely doesn't even know what is going on in his own company. At least him not knowing would be my hope!

If I were able to share my documentation with others reading this review It would paint the picture for you of my painful dealings with Armstrong Steel. Instead there is only one person that I have shared this with and that is my contract lawyer who is telling me this is an absolute given that Armstrong has misrepresented themselves in a way that will be to my (and other buyers in the future) benefit.

PLEASE STAY CLEAR OF THIS COMPANY!
I would be looking real close into the 5 star readings that you see below before falling into this trap as anyone can add a review!

I will let this review soak in for a while prior to filing a formal complaint as the term and conditions state that I cannot have both a review and a complaint at the same time.

Please read and understand my experience but also make your own decision as to who you spend your hard earned money with to provide your metal building.

Note to Armstrong response to this review: Do not bother responding to this review in an attempt to make others feel like you truly provide “post sale customer service”. There is only one thing you need to respond with and that is your CEO’s personal contact information which is non existent anywhere on the web! Would be very surprised if he doesn’t know the true inadequate service that your company is giving myself and others, the customers.

I purchased a 34' x 60' Armstrong Steel Building with 16' side walls in January 2018 and had the earth work, foundation, and finally the erection completed within a four month span of time. There is not an RV made than cannot fit inside this building! It has one 14' x 14' roll up door, two 12' x 12' roll up doors, and two man doors. I wanted to "live with it" for approximately 6 months before leaving any reviews to ensure no problems would crop up, hence the time lapse for my review. As another reviewer has already stated, you are only purchasing the metal building and structural plans from Armstrong Steel. The permits, certified foundation plans, foundation, unloading of all materials at the build site, and any and all equipment needed for unloading and erection are totally on the buyer, so plan accordingly and be sure to have extra funds available for unknown expenses that are bound to pop up. In my case I went way over budget due to the amount of unexpected earth work I needed to make my build site level (40" of soil buildup, soil compaction, compaction certification, and additional inspections). I strongly recommend you obtain all necessary estimates BEFORE committing to purchase any building regardless of manufacturer. That being said, I couldn't be happier with the end result. For not much more than my neighbor spent for their "enclosed carport" I got a heavy duty steel building made with heavier gauge metal and I-Beam construction. All the seams and joints are sealed as well. The overall quality is very impressive! There were some minor bumps in the road during the process, but Armstrong came through for me and all ended well. It should be noted that the smartest move I made was hiring Brian Frank as my contractor; he quite literally saved my life. My time line got messed up due to bad weather and foundation delays which caused a chain reaction for my material delivery and construction crew scheduling. My stress levels were off the chart when things started to go sideways until Brian Frank stepped in and smoothed out all the bumps and made everything happen in harmony. You can build these yourself if you are able and have plenty of strong help, but if you plan to hire a contractor I strongly recommend you ask for Brian Frank's contact information when you first contact Armstrong for pricing, you will be very glad you did. He has a ton of experience with small to massively sized building projects, you will be very glad you did...

I recently purchased a 25x40 from Armstrong. The quality of the building seems good and the sales team is great, but the customer service ends after the sale. All of the associates downstream are fairly unresponsive.

The shipping department is very amateur. They ship multiple loads on one truck bed with little regard for the end user so if you're the first drop, expect to spend 1-1.5 hours unloading and reloading someone else’s building, and taking on the liability for it.

If I could do it over again I would definitely go with a different building manufacturer.

Buyer beware these pieces of excrement don't want to sell you a building they want to steal your money and offer no customer service after they get your down payment. There are plenty of other honest and honorable companies out there avoid this company like the plague. They probably had employees or close friends write any positive reviews they recieve.

Misleading regarding what contract covers. Don't believe them when they say the pricing is ending. It isn't. Just want your deposit. Make sure all your openings are included in the contract and everything you'll ever need because they are more than happy to sell you a metal box with no openings. Then add additional charges for openings, etc.

Saw an Ad online for Armstrong Buildings. I have been looking for a 40' x 60' steel barn to be built at my home. I have contacted other companies and have gotten quotes and so I thought why not try them and get a quote as well.
I filled out my information on the online site expecting to get my quote, when all of a sudden it told me I would be contacted by a salesrep for my quote. (First red flag). Finally a day later I was contracted by Troy. Man he was so hip and so cool on the phone. It sounded like he was sitting on the beach with a mai tai in his hand. Then all of a sudden he had to let me go because he was getting another call. (Second red flag) What kind of salesman lets you go when they are trying to sell you something? He calls back about an hour later to let me know he has the deal of a lifetime for me. He has a building sitting on their lot that is the EXACT dimensions I am asking for and wait...just wait... It has all premium siding and trim with a 50 yr warranty and all the bells and whistles. This building typically sells for 45K but he has spoken to his supervisor and they are willing to sell it to me for 26K. WHAT!!!!! I am gonna save so much money on the materials only. Yeah that's right 26K and that is not even installed. That is for just the materials. Also that is not even delivered. I have quotes for 30K installed from other companies. I am like that is a lot of money for not being installed and then I get the whole run down of how Armstrong Steel is better steel than other companies that get their steel from China or India or wherever!.
Well I tell Troy that he will need to talk to my husband because I can't make a 26K decision without him and I give Troy my husbands #. I knew my husband would see through these sales tactics just as I did. Troy calls my husband and gives him the whole rundown and then my husband said he would think about it. Next thing you know Troy's supervisor is calling like everyday. Finally I told my husband just answer and put him on speaker phone as I want to hear what they have to say.
Hubby puts the supervisor on blast and low and behold they were able to drop the price to 24K and we needed to give them a deposit TODAY to lock in that price. They are barely making any money on this building. Their engineers make $200 an hour and this will barely cover the cost for the engineers. (3rd red flag). Also they don't accept credit cards for the deposit (Final red flag). What reputable company doesn't accept credit cards? I know the kind that doesn't want you to refute charges when they don't deliver...that is what kind of company. Well obviously we decided not to buy their building, even though Sam Elliott is the company spokesperson, I just felt that this company is way too much energy on the front end and will fail on the back end. I am not spending 24K on a building that is not even going to be delivered or installed. My advice is go somewhere else. Don't get scammed.

I knew it was possible to go a cheaper route, but I was interested in a quality metal building that would actually last. I looked around and really did my homework on several building manufacturers, and when Armstrong Steel was recommended to me by another firm, I realized they were the best choice. I’ve had great service throughout the purchase and design process, and everyone was very good at communication and very helpful. Specifically, Elisa in the Accounts department was brilliant. She was incredibly patient with me, and I know it could have been a different situation with another company. I’d be happy to recommend Armstrong Steel to friends and family.

Lot of miscommunication. I will eventually get my building up. Still have not got my building built. Will never do business with them again.

Bought a 40x60 building from Armstrong. The quality is phenomenal, you get what you pay for, my project manager was kind and responsive, always returned my calls in a timely manner, and helped me a great deal with my local county and deciding on unsulation options. I'd recommend Armstrong Steel to anyone in the market for a metal building.

Armstrong Buildings was great to work with and we are so glad we purchased one of their buildings. We cant say enough about their customer service at every level. We erected the building ourselves and would recommend them for one of the best buildings built at a fair value. They provided every thing for the entire project and were able to answer any questions each time we called. Their staff checked with us regularly to make sure we understood each step of the process as the building was being built at the factory and after it was shipped to our location. Their follow up with customers is outstanding.
