Very efficient when I called the pech central, they came to my aid within 30 mins. The road side manner was fantastic, smart engineer who was very methodical, found the problem. A great service.

Super knowledgeable

Super knowledgeable! Fast service (took 20 min from time of call to when someone was there to help me. He fixed the problem right there. He knew what the problem probably was just from my description. The person I talked to at the Volvo dealership did not give me that advice.

Thank you for your message. We understand your frustration and would like to clarify what happened. It appears that the call was made by you on behalf of someone else, who is the actual member and was not present at the time. Our colleagues informed you around 11:06 that the member herself needed to call us directly. Once she did, at 11:18, assistance was dispatched and the issue was resolved by 13:34.
A new battery was needed, and just like at a regular garage, the cost of the battery is not included in the service, it must be paid separately. Our Roadside Assistance team doesn’t always carry every type of battery, so in this case, it had to be picked up from one of our service centers. From what we can see, our colleague handled this quite efficiently.
We hope this explanation helps clarify the situation. If you have further questions or concerns, feel free to reach out, we’re here to help.

Their policy says if it isn't fixed within 48 hours....

10/10 Did not this reaction from ANWB.
Their policy says if it isn't fixed within 48 hours you get replacement vehicle, my Dynamo broke so the car wont go anywhere, they charge it so it can faster go to the garage, then they said, you can't get a replacement vehicle and do not care to explain where this would be on their policy, if you ask me, you advertise it big on your site? Even it says there if not fix within 48 hours you get replacement for 1 day, then you definetly should hold up your promise/policy. Their customer service with the people from Suriname sucks, they clearly do not want to help you and just be done with you, and go back to their permanent coffee breaks

Hi Jeroen, thank you for sharing your experience. When you reported your breakdown, the reason was for a worn out dynamo. Our mechanic was able to do a quick repair, so you would be able to go to a garage for definitive support. If he hadn't done that, you would have had to wait for towing transport. You're only entitled to alternative transport if you are absolutely unable to get to your destination, which was not the case here. After our mechanic helped you, you were able to resume your drive. Therefore you did not have a right to alternative transport. We hope that this has clarified it better for you. If you have any other questions, feel free to let us know!

Our experience couldn’t be worse

Our experience couldn’t be worse.
At 4am of Friday night/Saturday morning, our car started to rattle in Germany. Called ANWB, waited (reasonably) 2 hours to be picked up by tow truck. The tow truck drops us at a garage that, we find out only once we are there, doesn’t open until Monday. We call back ANWB, nobody knows anything and no other garage in the area is open. They want to fix us a rental car. We wait at the garage from 6am until 2pm without hearing anything, just that they were fixing us a rental car. At 2:30pm we call again and they finally tell us the address of the car rental. We get a cab to the rental store only to find out it’s been closed from 12pm. Useless company, the customer service is fantastic, they were very helpful and should definitely get paid more than what they get, BUT the service we received and the constant not knowing of information and the infinite wait just ruined it all.

Hello, we understand that experiencing car trouble during the night is never pleasant. Unfortunately, when incidents occur abroad, we are dependent on external service providers. We would therefore like to take a moment to explain the situation.
After you reported the breakdown, we started looking for a garage. This can be quite difficult during weekends and in foreign countries, as many garages are closed — although occasionally one may be open until 12:00 on Saturday mornings. Once we learned that the garage in question was closed, we continued searching for a suitable solution.
After discussing the situation with you, we began arranging local replacement transportation. In such cases, we assume that your own car can be repaired during your travel period. Finding a rental car took some time, as we are again reliant on external providers.
We have received your complaint via email and hope we can still find a satisfactory solution. If you have any further questions, please feel free to call us at 088 269 22 22, or send us a private message via Facebook.

My first time using a service I paid…

My first time using a service I paid for years. As I right this I am sat on the side of a road in motorbike gear in 32c heat for 5 hours. No one has come I keep being told 90 minutes. You should be ashamed as a company. And now you’re lying about what time you got to me that totally isn’t true. I have photos of the bike being loaded up in pitch black it doesn’t get dark till 11 o’clock at night.

Hello Henry, thank you for reaching out and sharing your experience. We’re truly sorry to hear how your first time using our service turned out, especially after being a loyal member for years. Waiting for hours in full motorbike gear in 32°C heat is absolutely not the experience we want any of our members to go through.

We’ve looked into your case and can confirm that you contacted us at 18:37. Unfortunately, due to high demand at that time, it took longer than usual for help to arrive. Our roadside assistance reached you at 20:32, and by 20:56 you were brought to a safe location. We understand this delay was frustrating and uncomfortable, and we sincerely apologize for that.

Afterwards, we arranged a rental car for you and ensured your motorbike was transported as needed. While the process took longer than it should have, we’re glad we were ultimately able to assist you.

We take your feedback seriously and will use it to improve our service. If you’d like to discuss this further or if there’s anything we can still do to make things right, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

I drive since 1998 without any issues…

I have been driving since 1998 without any issues with insurance, but ANWB is charging me 140 euros for a Seat Ibiza 1.4. This is unethical business practice as they claim they cannot find my data, yet they have all the necessary information for payment. I do not recommend this company to anyone unless you are willing to give away your hard-earned money.

Additionally, I was informed by ANWB that my insurance history from Portugal was not accessible in the Netherlands. This is false, as information is shared across all EU countries. I feel deeply disrespected and discriminated against because I have also learned that some companies use this "tactic" to exploit immigrants like me. It is shameful, and I will not remove this statement as the company is acting without ethics. Shame on them—it is truly disgraceful.

And I already talked to someone from ANWB and that reply is only to make it look like you care. It's a standard response to negative but factual reviews like this one and many others.
Want another example? I made my insurance on May 28th and paid for it, on June 3rd they charge me again full price and 12 of june again but with a surcharge claiming not to be able to access my history. So unless ANWB does their job properly and give me my money back and a fair price on my insurance, I will cancel my insurance on ANWB and tranfer it to a serious business. Thank you very much (for nothing).

Long wait time

I am writing to file a formal complaint regarding the handling of my roadside assistance request, case number 25053052997.

I was forced to wait for approximately two hours for assistance. Initially, I was told there was a high volume of calls, but this is not my responsibility as a customer. Later, I was informed that a vehicle had been dispatched, but then ANWB cancelled the assistance. As a result, I had no choice but to cancel the call myself.

I am extremely dissatisfied with this process. Today is Friday, and I urgently needed to get my car to the garage. Due to your two-hour delay and eventual failure to provide service, I was unable to do so. Since garages are closed over the weekend, my car's repair has now been postponed to Monday.

The problem with my vehicle had been clearly stated in the case details: the gear cable had snapped, the gear was stuck, and the vehicle was immobile. Even in such an urgent and non-operational condition, assistance was not provided. As a result, I was deprived of the use of my car for at least three days, and I had to arrange transportation to the garage myself under very difficult circumstances.

What a nightmare

What a nightmare. You ask a question. Somebody answers. By the time you reply a new person on he other side is responding but has not read the previous chat So you explain again. By the time the other side reads, it is a new person again, and this continues and continues. Their answers are purely focused on getting rid of you again, not solving the issue either. Absolutely hopeless!

None of the issues have been resolved. I logged another clarification on whatsapp, emailed a complaint and send a letter by post to the executive team, see if that finally wakes up some people

Stay away from this company they do not…

Stay away from this company they do not tolerate english speaking customers providing everything in dutch and when you ask if they can please communicate in english they let you know that they are a dutch company and any written communication will be in dutch.

I'm an expat applied for vehicle insurance and gave them my amount of claim free years that was driven in South Africa nowhere was it stated that they do not accept foreign claim free years and if they did state it I could have missed it because everything is in dutch.

My insurance got cancelled I need to pay extra because according to them I dont have claim free year but I did obtain a claim free years confirmation letter from my previous insurer.

They was also so kind to let me know that for applying for insurance in the future I would need to state that I was denied insurance in the past. So ANWB also negatively impact me for future insurance applications.

I will never recommend them.

Dear Roelf, it is true that our insurance services still operate in Dutch-language only, compared to our Roadside Assistance service which is also offered in English. While we have no problem offering you our insurance service regardless of which language you speak, it does come with extra responsibility to ensure you translate/understand our terms & conditions. Additionally, our customer service always has English speaking personnel to help you with your questions. In this scenario, we understand that you've simply assumed your claim free years would be valid, and that this had no ill intent. Yet, unfortunately, we are forced to terminate your insurance due to this misunderstanding. We also find it very unfortunate that you are now legally obliged to state this in future insurance applications, we hope you understand that this matter has no room for flexibility, even from our side. If there is anything we could for you from here, please don't hesitate to call us or send a private message on through our Facebook page. We will certainly take your experience to investigate how we may prevent this from happening in the future. Thank you for your review.

I wrote a review on ANWB some days ago to which an employee (or a bot) replied suggesting me to write on the FaceBook page of the company.
Result: ZERO!!
After entering all the details, no operator responded.
I waited for 2 hours now.
My problem is still that the money is taken from my bank account but I have no membership nor services.

I tried to message their customer service and Elise was very unprofessional. Left without answering my last question.

I tried to message their customer service via whatsapp and I was forwarded to Elise. Unfortunately she didn't even bother to anser my last question and just left. I found it very unprofessional not to mention you can sense with her replies that she is not that accomodating. Very disappointing. I usually don't make bad reviews. I will still give 2 stars because of some information that she answered.

Fraud company - be aware!

This company deliberately makes cancelling subscriptions difficult to keep charging customers. Avoid them, or you might find yourself paying for a service you don't want. I see many others have already warned about this. I regret not checking the reviews sooner. :(

Don't process the online cancellation, continue with invoices

Cancelled the plan online less than 14 days after starting it, got an unclear email confirming the cancellation. ANWB website was showing no active subscription for me! And now I receive an invoice for the next month of my "cancelled" subscription. On the phone, they say that they cannot do anything because I'm calling more than 14 days after the start, but normally I wouldn't have to call at all, they should have just cancelled the subscription.

I am very disappointed with ANWB…

I am very disappointed with ANWB Insurance. After an accident in the Philippines, I was assured my travel insurance would cover all health costs. I submitted all required documents over two weeks ago and have followed up multiple times with no response.

I've also emailed to cancel my insurance and received no reply. This lack of communication and support is unacceptable.

If this issue isn’t resolved promptly, I will file a complaint with Rijksoverheid. I urge ANWB to address this immediately. I caution others to reconsider trusting ANWB for their insurance needs.

ANWB driving school does not care about…

ANWB driving school does not care about the bad reviews!
They do not schedule classes for the good of the client but in a way that benefits them the most no matter if you are Dutch or an expat.
They are not flexible in their cancellation policy. If you cancel the class only once without knowing the cancellation period, they will take your money, no matter if you are Dutch or an expat.
I do not recommend to anyone to enrol in their school.

Warning

Warning: Poor Service and Overcharging from ANWB

I’ve had an extremely frustrating experience with ANWB and I want to share it to warn others. Here’s what happened:

1. Overcharging Due to Incorrect Claim-Free Years:
I initially reported 10 claim-free years, which resulted in a lower premium. However, after providing a claim-free certificate from my previous insurer in Spain, they adjusted my claim-free years to 4. As a result, my premium has been significantly higher than originally agreed upon. Despite this, I was told I would receive a refund of €325.25, but they’ve kept part of the additional payment, claiming it covers my coverage since August 29.

2. Unexpected Charges:
I paid €91.73 for the first month, followed by €81.45 for the next two months. Then, I was charged an additional €439.05 for the adjustment in November, and €227 more on November 28. My total annual premium is now a shocking €2733.48.

3. Unfair Charges for 3 Months of Service:
In total, I’ve paid €839.68 for just 3 months of service. After the claim-free adjustment, they have refused to return the full additional payment I made, which has been unreasonably high given the service I’ve received. Their refusal to refund the full amount and the ongoing overcharges have left me extremely dissatisfied.

Has anyone else faced these types of issues with this company?
