I have a client website that needs to be updated and I just learned it's using WPBakery. It's just so hard to work with, it is super slow, and it's not even compatible with PHP 8.4. Better just use the default WordPress FSE to save time and sanity.

WPBakery is offensively outdated
WPBakery is offensively outdated. Easily the slowest most inconvenient builder I've ever used. It may have been good 10 years ago but it has changed very little. Every little change you have to hit save and then see how it looks, even for minor text changes, there's no live editing. You have to click on text, a window pops up, edit the text, then hit save to see how it looks. And hopefully you don't ever have to hit undo as it takes 5-10seconds to reload the page for simple edits. Also there's no visual padding adjustments, you have to go into settings type in the padding, then save, then keep trying until it looks right. Just awful. It's offensive that this tools still even exists.

As a 25+ year full stack developer that can build websites with or without page builders. This product made me loose the will to live. It's an absolute abomination of a tool. We have a client that uses this tool for their website, that we support in some way. Every adjustment we need to do is an absolute hell. This tool would be a terrible option 20 years ago. People that use this tool are a disgrace for the webdevelopment branch.
WPBakery is slow as hell, missing the most basic functions that are in CSS3 for like 10 years now, absolute UI/UX abomination, dragging doesn't work, which renders the whole tool itself useless. Visual builder completely broken. Making adjustments will take at least 4 times more time then in Elementor.
0/10 Would not recommend this to my worst enemy. Elementor is an infinite times better then this pile of garbage.
A lifetime license with annual payment???
I always build my client websites without page builders, but some of the websites I manage for my clients were already built by others and have WP Bakery built in.
Because the update system was not automatic, I decided to purchase a 5-site lifetime license a year ago.
Now, a year later, I am confronted with their brilliant sales schema: a lifetime license means you still have to manually download the update from the wpbakery website. Auto-update does not work. For that, you have to pay 5*$59 every year for that 5-site license. That's actually more expensive than the licenses were in the first place!
I am not a fan of page builders to start with (they are usually very bloated, and CSS management becomes a nightmare), but this "loyalty punishment" seems completely dishonest to me. It's the worst licensing program I've ever encountered.
THIS TOTALY SUCKS!!!!

Title: Disappointed by WPBakery – Misleading Licensing Practices
As a longtime WordPress user, I recently renewed my WPBakery Page Builder license under the impression that I had lifetime access to core features. After the purchase, I discovered that key functionality like cloning and clipboard operations require an additional paid plugin, which was never transparently disclosed during renewal.
This kind of product segmentation—paired with poor communication and lack of responsive support—feels like a deliberate strategy to mislead users. It’s disappointing to see a popular plugin take this direction and treat its users like profit centers instead of collaborators.
The purchasing experience felt impersonal and confusing, and I wouldn't be surprised if WPBakery relies on users simply giving up when things don’t work as expected. I urge others to look beyond the marketing and consider alternatives with better transparency and support.
WPBakery has lost my trust.

Not recommend WpBakery
Not recommend, using it now +1 year on multiple sites I've taken over from another developer who created the sites with this page builder. It's a nightmare to migrate to another page builder thanks to all the shortcodes Wpbakery uses. Now the latest 8.5 update convinced me to write a review. Would not recommend to install/use this plugin.

Horrible product and support
This was a decent product a long time ago. It's 2025 and this product never evolved. It I'll kill your page speed, which is becoming more important every day. I highly recommend against using it.
Plus, their support it terrible. I won't purchase anything from this vendor anymore because of how poor their support is.

Lack of options, basic design hard to accomplish
They say it's easier to work with but I can't agree with that. If you want to build something quite basic Bakery is your tool. Beautiful designs are hard to accomplish using it. As well recently the preview for me crashed and when I try to edit something in the Frontend it just disappears which is the best that could ever happen and now I have to edit in the backend and load the page every time to see what is going on. Really fun and easy! If I have a client which wants me to build his website on using Bakery I would rather decline. I've never been so pissed off when designing a website until I had to work with Bakery. Really disappointed..

Support is non-existant on major technical issues
Over the years I have purchased 19 lifetime licenses from wp bakery. Over the last few months all of them have for some reason been downgraded, they show as lifetime purchases in the wp bakery registry but the licenses when activated do not show in the website and the plugin is not able to be updated. I have tried to get in touch with their support but have to purchase support from them so they will answer. There is no way to get in touch with them, and so my lifetime licenses were obviously in their eyes only "temporary" lifetime licenses. I think that is absolutely terrible from a company that says its the #1 page builder, and is obviously quite a major bug in the plugin, Ive been a loyal customer over the years, am highly disappointed and will probably move onto a different builder platform from now on.

They don't honor the refund policy on the front they say you can get your refund in the 15 first days but when you start the process to get it there's a page full of disclaimers. Then they respond if you have a bug open a ticket for support but no refund is mentioned or honor.

The Builder for Those Who Love Wasting Time
Ah, WP Bakery, the Picasso of inefficiency! If you’ve ever thought, “Hey, I’d love to spend triple the time on basic edits,” this is the builder for you. Simple tasks? Prepare for a treasure hunt of menus, clicks, and endless confusion. It’s like they designed it with the sole purpose of testing your patience. Who needs ease and effectiveness when you can have a never-ending series of extra steps? Truly a masterpiece of wasted potential. Bravo!

Worst experience
Worst page builder I had to use so far
Worst page builder I had to use so far, like trying to do design pages in an outdated power point application. Drag and drop did not work for rows, saving settings broke the page preview, and everything takes ten times as long than writing HTML or using a professional product. Bakery has more issues than WP's own Gutenberg block editor. I can't recommend to use this.
Absolutely brilliant
This wordpress page builder is absolutely brilliant, been working with it with my custom theme and every update just makes it better. Totally recomended for professionals
Terrible Avoid at all costs
The product is a scam
The plugin offers you absolutely nothing, you have to code to get anything to work with any degree of professionalism at which point you can do that without wpBakery anyway.
Their refund policy is a joke, the terms are hidden deep in their website and it excludes literally everything you might need a refund for and they don't respond to emails.
I hope others learn from my mistake and run as far and fast away from this plugin as they can. Give your money to someone else
