Here at WGU, we believe that talent is universal—even if opportunity isn't. Higher education is the best way to bridge that gap, but traditional higher ed wasn't built for the realities facing many of today's students. So we created a university focused on expanding access to education around the country. We've innovated with students in mind, giving them the flexibility and freedom they need to succeed in today's workplace.

WGU offers a flexible program, unstructured for you as the student to determine your education path and work flow for study and assignment completion. If you are motivated, dedicated, and a self-starter, this is a great university. If you need guided instruction, structure, and set due dates, this is not a good match for you. My program mentor was my greatest support and provided assistance for my education and professionally.

I'm writting this as i'm being sabotaged by mentors, teachers, Title x, Conduct department, and the radical, hate crimes, delusional insanity blocking access to testing, blocking my graduation with the full program complete other then last two assessment tests with no good faith and all the legal proof I've had to turn them into the TEA and the OCR, and Federal Aid to remove the debt they created with their hate crimes and mental disability descrimination, and they love to attack you for freedom of speech and speaking up for what is right- does that remind you of anyone? WGU also pays to market this account . WGU is not trustworthy; they are out of date and have had to pay government fines for criminal activity toward students. I would never suggest this school, as it is not self-paced; it is gate-kept by the mentors who sabotage your success. This is an extremely abusive environment. They have wasted over a year of my life, impacting my well-being, and sneak behind your back because they are not professional and wish harm to their students. You have been warned.

I had 2 mentors during my time and both of them were absolutely fantastic!! They were so helpful and kept me motivated. WGU worked so well for my busy life and has afforded me the career change that I needed for me and my family.

The accommodation for me and my daughter. It was just the two of us. The staff made her feel welcomed and a part of the experience. It was a relief for me and I am grateful for their understanding.

Besides my amazing mentor, I was having to go through a financial aid dependency override this semester. This process takes way to long to start off with and the person handing my case keeps adding time keeping me from proceeding with my education by sending un related actions required documentations from me. And let’s not talk about every time I call financial services they don’t help. And have attitude. Would not recommend this school.

My mentor was the absolute best. WGU has some amazing resources, making it impossible for you to be anything less than successful. I feel WGU cares as a whole and wants to see individuals reach their full potential in their desired field.

They charged the wrong tuition in March of 2025 and then the correct amount in April 2025. They claimed to have sent the funds back to the government for the first charge they made in error but, since I hadn't received the funds back, I was stuck with two loans for the same term. I finally had to file a lawsuit in mid August 2025 because the school basically wouldn't do anything. For 5 months I waited and tried to play nice with the school but since the funds weren't returned I had to take them to court.
September 5th, 1 week before the hearing I magically got the funds back to my student loan account. EXTREMELY unethical behavior from their financial aid office and a giant pain in the butt! It only took suing them to get my money back.
that school is worst for making deaf students to failed on exams. forces I and deaf students to drop out this school. Because their proctors are heavy foreign employees have serious problem with deaf students. Proctors keep block exams for "special needs." I and Deaf students are not special needs. just hearing loss, that all. Western Governors University made me drop out... twice!

WGU was a great way to earn my MBA! I loved being able to go at my own speed and prove my competence without having just to spend time with my butt in a seat. It's a great way to earn your degree if you can be self-motivated and don't need your hand held throughout your learning process. The only negative I have to say is that the proctoring process on tests is absolutely ridiculous!

Having a mentor you were in contact with helped. I found the professors easy to communicate with, and they were always able to help me with an assignment.

I completed my Bachelor of Science in Business Management at WGU in just one year, and it was an amazing experience. The competency-based model let me move at my own pace, which made balancing school, work, and life much easier. The mentors and faculty were supportive every step of the way, and the affordability made earning my degree possible without a huge financial burden. I’m proud to be a WGU graduate and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a flexible and career-focused degree program.

An alum warned me that at this school, you're just paying for a piece of paper and if you want to actually learn something, attend a different school. He was right. When you ask a question to the instructors or ask them to teach you something, if they don't know the answer, they tell you to Google it. All they know is the script from the online lessons, they have no critical thinking or problem solving skills. Overall, the programs don't prepare you for the real world. I would only recommend this school to someone who already knows everything in the subject area, doesn't need to learn anything new, but just needs that piece of paper showing they have a degree.

I truly enjoyed the WGU Boston Commencement at TD Garden. The event was exceptionally well organized, with staff and volunteers ready to assist, answer questions, and ensure graduates were fully prepared for their moment. It was a memorable occasion worthy of any graduate, and I would highly recommend attending to anyone who has the opportunity.

WGU was exceptionally supportive and accommodating. Every aspect of their services and resources was noteworthy. Balancing a full-time job and a myriad of obligations, the support I received, starting with my assigned mentor and continuing with my professors, transformed my academic pursuits into an attainable reality.

As a non-traditional student, WGU made going back to school accessible. I had great support from my instructors and program mentor.

It was an unforgettable experience. I wish I had known about WGU before completing my bachelor's degree at another university. The professors were excellent, especially my mentor, Jeff Stevens. He never let me give up and always encouraged me to continue my master's degree. The experience was unique and perfect.

I've completed remote, online degrees from 3 different universities. The traditional campuses are still trying to make virtual learning a shadow of classroom learning. WGU takes the asynchronous learning model and amplifies its strengths, creating a proram that meets the unique needs of adult learners with busy schedules. WGU doesn't waste my time, but helps me demonstrate my exisiting knowledge and expertise in the most efficient way. The faculty are kind, supportive, and accessible. WGU is my first choice for anyone balancing school and work.
