West & Hill have been great doing my extension. They have been professional throughout and it was great having a company we could trust with our project. When you're spending a large sum of money, its always a bit nervy that you're making the right decision. Employing West & Hill to do our project really was the right decision!

Our second project with West & Hill. We would not have considered anybody else. Our old en suite looked more than sufficient but we knew deep down that the original workmanship was shoddy and we had been planning on asking for help from Rick and Will, once finances allowed. Will was honest from the start in regard to price and the work required to bring it up to their standards and kept us informed all the way through the project with any extra costs. Once again, the workmanship has been second to none. The West & Hill team are professional and personable and a joy to have around. We cannot recommend them highly enough for quality work in your home.

We had met several builders to discuss and quote on a full kitchen renovation before finding West & Hill Renovations and during our first meeting with them we knew they were the builders for us!

Will and Rick are great guys, they are so friendly and approachable and communication was excellent throughout.

They were transparent with how much the work would cost and provided a detailed quote, breaking down the costs which was great for us, as we could see exactly what we were spending our money on.

They listened to all our concerns and used their vast experience to advise and steer us in the right direction throughout the renovation, especially when we were struggling to make decisions. They also gave us ideas to keep costs down and stay within budget.

The renovation wasn’t a straightforward one, support walls needed taking down and several large steels were installed, but Will and Rick carried out all this work without drama.

They have a great team of tradesmen working for them, a really friendly, skilled team.  We feel very lucky to have found builders who are so reliable and honest!

We are totally thrilled with our kitchen renovation. West & Hill renovations and their team have transformed the space into a fantastic, functional and useable area that has exceeded our expectations!

We have another project planned in the near future and will definitely be using West & Hill again!

I wish I could give West & Hill 10 stars. They are exceptionally good at what they do and lovely guys too. If you're looking for friendly, professional, intelligent builders then these are the men for you! The same can be said of the other sub contractors that they bring in for their projects - everyone was a delight to have around.

We were looking for a local team to alter an opening in a ground floor load bearing wall. It was relatively small job in, but still required supporting multiple floors and dealing with wonky/slap dash Victorian masonry. It’s a part of our retrofit we weren’t willing to try doing ourselves for good reason.

After thinking we had another firm lined up to go they just went silent on us so we had to start the search again and after a less than good experience with another contractor (roof, not related) we a little concerned about finding a ‘proper’ and trust worthy team.

West & Hill eventually came up and their remarkably positive reviews stood out strongly. Their website showing past projects, team backgrounds and other certifications (AECB & Passivhaus familiarity noted!), seemed to marry up with the positive reviews so we got in touch.

Like any desirable business they were busy when we contacted, juggling a couple of current projects but responded in good time and found some time to visit our property to discuss the work prior to quoting (a must and red flag if not requested). They provided a timely quote for a fair price which was in line with our expectation and other reference points.

We had to move fast as our small project was slotting in a gap between other pre-booked projects at different stages and happy to say Will managed it smoothly.

Once on site, things went smoothly too. The team were always prompt and let us know when they’d be arriving and leaving. The project was appropriately resourced (2 people min, up to 4 for heavy steel) and Will made regular check ins whilst the rest of the team got on with it.
That’s not to say there weren’t some changes/decisions along the way, e.g when we got to confirming final position of the steel, it had to move because the existing coursing changed orientation just at the level we didn’t want it to and would require substantially more propping. Will was on hand to explain the options, do a little more intrusive investigations at our request and then come back with final constraints. Their approach to this was friendly, helpful and pragmatic such that we were confident to make a decision away from our original ideal location in light of the circumstances discovered and importantly because the team did a little more investigation work to ensure they explored all the options, without fuss.

They were generally tidy, nice to chat with and happy to field questions - all of which contribute to making the difference between a fine and good experience.
And payments were easy, being outlined ahead of work, stuck to and managed straight forward and friendly approach by Will.

Both of us are architects by profession so we have experience inspecting work etc and I’d suggest we’re therefore keener than most clients looking/checking the details and quick to raise any issues, even on small job like this - with West & Hill there were none.

Not only will we be contacting West & Hill whenever we have need of a contractor again, but we’ve already recommended to friend (also an architect) for their house renovations.

I am a retired (through disability) former builder/developer of more than 40 years and needed a contractor to build a ground floor bedroom with wet room and connecting lobby onto our home. West & Hill were recommended to me by my former builders merchants as a quality local builder. As someone who prided himself on always achieving the highest standards and professionalism, it was important I was able to find a company that I could trust, and worked to these standards. I have to say these guys surpass my own high standards and expectations.
From the very get go, the 12 page detailed estimate gives you the reassurance you are dealing with a professional outfit. Always on site promptly from when they started through until completion, they carefully considered each aspect of the build. Their standards and attention to detail are absolutely top drawer.
Will & Ric were lovely to deal with throughout and their whole team were a pleasure to have around.
We are absolutely delighted with our much needed extension and I embarrassingly don’t think I could have built it as well as they have, which is testament to how highly I rate them. They are multi talented tradesmen, professional, polite and if you’re looking for contractors, these are your guys.

We booked West & Hill to undertake a full renovation of our bungalow and build an extension. We now have a home to be proud of, exactly how we imagined it. With such an undertaking we encountered hidden problems but West & Hill fully discussed solutions so we felt comfortable with the results. We contacted West & Hill Renovations (Will & Rick) after a recommendation from our family.
We wanted a ground floor extention to the rear of our property, housing a new kitchen and family area plus renovation to a bathroom, utiliy and dining room.
From the first point of contact for pre - planning till the work had been completed they were a joy to have around, partial to coffee & cake happy builders with excellent communication skills held our hand through this journey.
They did an excellent job took pride in their work which was of a very high standard.

We hired Will and Rick for an extensive renovation which comprised removing the chimney (roof to ground floor), combine the kitchen with the dining room and installing a new kitchen.
Everything has been done to the highest standard, including keeping the site clean and safe to the point we were able to live in the house during all the works. The initial estimated completion date was perfectly respected.
All communications were good during all stages of the work, from the initial contact to updates during the works when necessary and proposing alternative solutions to issues arose during the works.

From the pre-planning stage through to the work being complete, Will and Rick have been a dream to work with.
This was not a run of the mill project, with plenty of unforeseen challenges... but we were in very capable hands.

Our search for a home builder began when we relocated to Leeds in October and made the decision to undertake a rear and side extension on our 1930s semi. When researching the area West & Hill had a reputation of being quality contractors and we chose to work with them.

We were quite apprehensive about the enormity of the undertaking but once we met with Will and Rick, it quickly became evident that we would be in very safe hands and that they would deliver exactly what we were looking for to create our dream home.

The project was not without its difficulties that come with an older house but they took the stress and worry that can accompany any renovation or build and created a positive experience from beginning to end.

Communication was excellent both ahead of the works at pre-planning stage, during the work and at the snagging stage. They were always respectful of our unique wishes and regular communication meant that any difficult decisions were dealt with quickly and with a solution we were completely happy with.

Their quality workmanship, dedication and excellent attention to detail meant they delivered the beautiful home we had always envisioned.

We highly rate West and Hill. We had a big project and right from the start they listened to what we wanted, offered guidance and advice and made sure that their plans would meet our expectations. We needed to live in the house during the renovation, which they were really understanding about and as our house is old there were complications along the way (floors weren’t level etc.) Their open and honest communication throughout meant we always felt we could speak to them and solve any issues jointly (including covid setbacks!) The finish of the build was amazing, we have had loads of compliments and are looking forward to working with them again in the future (to get the rest of our house up to the same standard!)

West and Hill did a fantastic job on our house creating us a beautiful open plan kitchen/dining room by removing an outside wall. The wall removal proved to be more difficult than anticipated due to a previous extension but Will & Rick were superb with solutions and we were kept informed throughout the renovation and had no problem with building regulation approval. The actual fitting of the kitchen was a challenge as my wife kept asking for changes with the layout but nothing was too much trouble for Will & Rick, plus they were very good with their own layout suggestions. In fact I think Howdens should employ them as design consultants. The extra space and beautiful kitchen they have given us is out of this world and we cannot thank them enough for being so professional, conscientious and skilled in everything they do. Absolutely delighted with the finished job, two fantastic guys and would definitely recommend them.

We have had other work done previously and we were hesitant to start a big project only to be let down and be disappointed with the end result. West & Hill were the fifth builders we had invited to quote for the works as we had niggling doubts with all the others. Following the very first meeting with Will we were confident West & Hill were the right choice for us and they would not let us down. We were not wrong.
Will and Rick are amazing humans and skilled tradesmen. Their attention to detail to everything they do is clear to see from the end result and was recognised every day during the build. Will and Rick delivered what we expected and more.
