I arrived in Latvia on the Saturday, taxi waiting for me, couldn't have been easier. Had pre ops and operation on the Monday, discharged Wednesday and flew home Thursday.
I couldn't fault anything. Wellton Riga hotel and spa is lovely, nice rooms and very clean. The actual hospital itself looks brand new but isn't. It is absolutely spotless. The surgeon and doctors speak great English. The nurses not as much BUT this didn't affect the care in any shape or form. They knew exactly what they were doing, if they didn't know the English words they used phones for Google translate. Not once did I ever feel vulnerable because of a language barrier. Everything was explained, the whole experience was great in my opinion. The patient coordinators are great, very responsive and interested and Guna the nutritionist is fantastic. Always on the end of the phone.

After booking WEIGHT LOSS RIGA in October of 2020 and having to postpone til Feb of 2022, I cannot fault the care and attention given to me by all of the their staff. The clinic is spotless, the equipment used is ultra modern, and the pre op tests were meticulous. I will return to Riga next year for further surgery without hesitation.

Very happy with my surgery - almost 4 weeks out, lost 26lbs and feeling lighter and more mobile. The entire process from leaving the UK to Riga was seamless. The clinic was fantastic. I cant wait to see where I'll be in 6 months time.

My only regret is not doing this sooner.

Well I made the right decision so far. In bed at the wellton Hotel, last night in riga before going home tomorrow. Can't wait to get home, but not because of WLRiga they have been amazing. From start to finish have been so professional . Sue one of the co-ordinator has been there from the start to answer any questions, artar being there when you arrive at hotel. Doctors were amazing ,professional and kind, explained things well. Very thorough with pre ops. Felt safe from start to finish. Just need to wait to see how the rest of the journey goes.

I talked to 12 clinics in the UK, Turkey and Riga but I kept coming back to Riga. I definitely made the right choice.

I had a few questions after my inital call and these were promptly answered by email from the coordinator team.

The WLR Facebook Group is an invaluable resource for your own research and I found it very supportive. In addition, patients usually set up a WhatsApp group for the month they are going for surgery and these are helpful if you want extra help navigating the travel rules, pre-surgery diet and generally mental support for this big change you are about to go through.

The best part of the experience was when I got to Riga. Firstly old town Riga is beautiful and I will definitely go back as a tourist. Artur, the Riga based coordinator was warm and friendly and took good care to make sure I understood everything. Once at the clinic, which is spotlessly clean and comfortable - everyone from the Surgeon, numerous Nurses, Anaesthetists, Sonographer, Radiographer in Riga were professional and kind.

Overall, it was a top rate experience. I would definitely recommend.

From start to finish, booking my surgery to my surgery day and beyond the Weight Loss Riga team have been fantastic. The admin service was absolutely spot on, Mim is so quick to reply to the smallest of queries which settled my mind wondering. In Riga, Artur was amazing and full of so much important information and also there on the ward just to ask if we were ok which is a really nice thing.
I was extremely nervous about having my surgery (gastric sleeve) but feel I have been fully supported throughout my journey so far, so massive thank you to everyone.

This was a very positive experience for me. I'm now a week out from bypass surgery with minimal discomfort.
Everything is so well organised from the first consultation to getting into the taxi to fly home.
The clinic is absolutely spotless and care is second to none, despite the language barrier.
My stay was made easier by sharing a room with a lady who had surgery on the same day(thank you Mim for organising this) . We got each other through it. The Facebook page and WhatsApp group are lifesavers for advice, support and comfort.

Highly recommended! Great support before, during& after surgery. No questions asked in your opinion, even silly were always answered. Positive & reassuring staff, both patient co-ordinators & clinic staff.A fabulous service from beginning to end.worth every penny.

From start to finish I can not fault the communication with the whole team. I contacted the patient coordinators in July 2021 and spoke with Sue for my initial appointment, who talked me through the whole process. After researching the clinic, being an member on the WLR Facebook page where I was freely able to see other patient's experiences and speak with them, I booked to have my Gastric Band on 17.01.22. I liaised a lot with Mim who is a coordinator right up to flying out to Riga, Mim was excellent and very responsive at all times to any queries that I had prior to flying out.
Mim advised me that Artur who is the representative in Riga would make contact either the day before before I flew or on the day to advise me of the full details of when, where and by who I'd be picked up. Artur did contact me and I was given instructions, and as advised I was collected at the airport and taken to my Hotel. The hotel was lovely and spotlessly clean, and in the centre of Riga. Following day I was collected from my Hotel and taken to the clinic.
The clinic was very clean and modern, all staff at the clinic were very friendly, some spoke and understood English and those that did not ensured another member of staff spoke to me to see to my needs.
Pre op, Op & Recovery all went well and I was fully taken care of throughout this process. The surgeon speaks English, was very informative and I fully understood all that was being advised. I am a Health Professional myself and can not fault the clinic or the staff with the service they provided.
Following my 3 night stay at the clinic I was collected and taken to my Hotel for 1 night and collected again for my flight home. Seamless service from landing in Riga to flying home.
Artur was readily available during my whole stay in Riga and also the UK coordinators if needed.
I love the Facebook page and I was also invited to join a WhatsApp group with those that were having their surgeries the same month as me. Can not state enough how much support these 2 Networks have given me and I will continue to be a member of the Facebook page. I also made a lovely friend from the WhatsApp group who had her surgery the same day as me. We were on the same flights and booked at the same hotel, so we met at the airport. We were also able to share the same room at the clinic. This friendship has been invaluable and helped us both to share our weight-loss journey.

From start to finish really professional team and clinic. Mim is Always on hand if you want to know an answer to a question, clinic is spotlessly clean, nursing staff competent and professional, Surgeon is literally god!

Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend WL Riga to anyone.

I had Gastric Bypass surgery on 17th January,
Communication was excellent right from the start, my patient co-ordinator Sue talked me through the whole process.
Artur is the representative in Riga and he contacted me the day before I flew out giving me full details of when, where and by who I'd be picked up. He was readily available during my whole stay in Riga.
The hotel was nice,
The clinic was very clean and very modern, all staff at the clinic were very friendly even if a couple didn't have the greatest English.
Pre op, Op & Recovery all went well and the weight is already falling off. I couldn't be happier.

Very modern and spotlessly clean hospital. English speaking very caring staff. You will not be alone as this facility is very well used by many people from the UK. If you have tried everything to lose your excess weight and only found yourself back to square one then this is the place to get help. Their expert very understanding surgeons are there to help you. It is also only a 2.5 hour flight and there are many cheap direct flights available. I am so happy with my experience. Best thing I have ever done. Thank-you.

I was responded to quickly from first contact. The hotel used is very comfortable and all transport between riga airport/clinic/hotel is provided for just £10 (at time of writing review) each way.

The clinic is clean and the pre-op tests are very thorough. The clinicians speak English well enough to be able to convey any information that is relevant.

I saw both the anaesthetist and the surgeon before the op. I was given a report (in Latvian) of all the test findings to give my gp at home.

The co-ordinator, Sue, was easy to contact via WhatsApp and responded timely.

The online presence on Facebook speaks for itself.

All in all it was a successful trip and I'm at home now 4 days after my operation recovering well so far. Wish I'd done this years ago.

From start to finish the service is seamless! They really take care of you right from booking. Being in Riga the hospital was spotless, the nurses and doctors treat each patient like a VIP. The pre-operative tests are thorough and you never feel like you are unsafe or not knowing what is going on.
I had a gastric bypass 30th October 2021 and to date have lost over 4.5 stone! I recommend Weight Loss Riga to anyone and everyone who will listen! Don’t waste your money on UK private surgery when extraordinary service and care is available in Latvia.
