It was great

It was great, despite being online. The lectures were laser-focused, the speakers were the cream of the crop. They also had virtual booths, which were quite a plus. Overall, I liked it.

More to like than dislike and overall thumbs up.

As with most conferences, there are moments when you are beaming and clapping and other moments when you are watching your clock and looking for the next break...this had both. On the whole, the content was more positive than negative and in general, the quality was good. Some presenters didn't really answer the topic in their title and some presenters didn't quite have their audience 'held'. The logistics of the conference worked really well, especially given that it was all remote, although I don't think that Figma was a good choice for collaborative sessions in the workshop. The really notable sessions (Felice Hawley - Content Design and UX Writing & Iannish Posooa – How to Design Accessible UI, to name two), made up for any shortcomings and I finished feeling inspired and enriched.

I loved the conference. ❤️ Let's go again next year.

Nice people all around, a lot of relevant knowledge in a conveniently consumable format. Good atmosphere, location and food. And excellent organisation and useful talk recordings. Didn't take part in any workshops though, as they were not too interesting topics for me personally. I loved The UX Conference in London. ❤️👏🏼

I really appreciated the selection of the speakers and the variety of the topics. The conference is well organised and I had a couple of very inspiring talks with some of the speakers and colleagues.

I attended the first day and found that…

I attended the first day and found that there was too much a focus on diversity, accessibility and identity politics. I'm of course broadly in favour of improving all these things as part of my UX strategy but expected a more nuanced approach and a lot more practical advice on how to improve the experience of the 'general' user. Just my opinion though... was well organised and the catering was excellent.

Hi Dylan, thanks for taking time to share your thoughts – every feedback counts and helps us improve.

As you know our conference has always been themed around collaboration between designers and other professions. We think it's the most challenging part of design – communication between each other: company politics, presenting value of design and speaking the same language with different stakeholders.

Hopefully next time you'll be able to make it to the second day of the event too – that's where we've organised hands-on workshops on Content Design, A/B Testing, Design Language Systems and Prototyping UI.

Interesting talks but not much to take…

Interesting talks but not much to take away for someone with a background in UX. Poor variety of drinks during the day (tea, coffee or water only) and not set up to serve lunch efficiently. I won't be attending again.

Thanks for your review, GP. It's a pity we didn't meet your expectations, sorry! If you have any tips on how we can make our talks more useful to professionals of your level – we'd highly appreciate if you could email us on team@theuxconf.com – we do read and take on board each and every comment.

We'll definitely pass on your feedback about catering to our provider. As you can imagine, it's quite a challenge to feed over 300 guests at once. We're doing as much as we can and always keen to improve.

Hopefully you can benefit from day 2 of our practical workshops as part of the conference next year.

It wasn't great

I hate to rate things down but unfortunately I felt that this conference wasn't for me.
Maybe it's more suited to junior designers but I certainly didn't get much out of it. The reason I attend a conference is to either learn something new, or to put into a new perspective the things I already know. I didn't get any of these here.
Mid-way through Rachel's talk about stress in the workplace, I actually left the conference. I felt that this wasn't related to UX at all and I was wasting my time. Apologies if I am being harsh but there were no takeaways for me. Regarding the venue, the location was lovely and it was a great set up to network with other people in the industry.

Hi Dora, thanks for taking time to leave a review! Sorry to hear your experience wasn't great.

Our speaker Rachel was sharing her story of being a freelance designer, which no doubt can be overwhelming, and her unfortunate burnout that happens to quite a few of us in UX industry – we feel it's very important to make sure all of us manage our mental and physical health well.

We're always doing our best to make the conference as practical as possible by inviting a diversity of experienced designers as speakers. If you have any suggestions on how we can make our talks better for you next year – please kindly drop us a line on team@theuxconf.com.

Hope to see you again next time!

Good talks but I expected more

My colleague and I visited London to join the UX conference for the first time. Most of the talks were really good! A lot of different topics, nice length and good speakers. Some were more informative, some were more inspirational, a good mix. I was also pretty happy when we received the slides from these presentations.

What I mostly missed was the experience of the conference itself. For a UX (design) conference I would expect that the conference itself would also be more an experience. For example interaction with the audience, more energizers, a creative/warm welcome and goodbye, some (creative) exercises to connect with other visitors during the day, this kind of things.
This was a bit disappointing for me but maybe I expected too much on this level.

Hey Elske, thanks for sharing your feedback! It's definitely helpful to hear what we can improve next time.

Our interactive activities differ with each year – at our 3rd conference at the Design Museum we've had all our guests composing a song about UX design, accompanied by live ukulele music with Journey's "Don't Stop..." UX-ing track :-). This year we've decided to have design quiz and drinks reception on day 1 and hands-on workshops on day 2. We'll definitely take on board your suggestions for the next event.

Looking forward to welcoming you back in 2021!

No takeaways for me

For junior designers, this could be interesting and exciting, but I'm afraid for someone with 10+ experience there were no takeaways for me and I didn't find it good value for money at all.

Hi Karen, thanks for your review! We're sad to hear we didn't meet your expectations. Trust us, we really are very keen to make the conference better with each year by listening to feedback of our attendees. If there's anything in particular you feel would make the talks more insightful for you – we're all ears on team@theuxconf.com.

We've had very productive workshops about Content Design, A/B Testing, Design Language Systems and Prototyping UI on day 2 of the event with lots of hands-on exercises – something that we believe would be useful for an experienced designer like yourself. We hope you can make it next time.
