I had received a letter in January of…

I had received a letter dated on my birthday in January of this year, in my late mother’s name 5 days after my birthday, informing me that a Will from their own Will bank was confirmed as an original Will from her previous solicitor.

I never received any acknowledgement in the first instance of this transfer to Tayntons Solicitors of her Will documents, and that this Will had been transferred over when the previous solicitor retired from legal practice, which was around the year of 2020?

So the question needs to be asked: How slow are they with finalizing and settling anything else related to advised legal procedures and ongoing legal matters?

We were asked to provide a completion…

We were asked to provide a completion statement from 2015 for our current conveyancing proceedings which we were unable to locate (IE Lost) and so, in a last ditch act of desperation, we contacted Tayntons
for assistance, but firmly believed there was little to no chance of a successful outcome, due to the length of time and added complication of original solicitor takeover by Tayntons.
Our telephone call was (immediately) answered by Thom, who was courteous, cordial and completely
competent from commencement to conclusion of our conversation.
To our absolute amazement, the documentation was
located (during the course of our telephone conversation) and duly dispatched (& delivered) the same day, thereby swiftly and successfully solving a very stressful (& potentially problematic) situation.
We wish to take this opportunity to express our heartfelt gratitude and ever lasting appreciation for the invaluable assistance afforded to us, Thank You!.

Never again!

Terrible operators, we were forced by family to use them for a complex house sale. It took them way too long to realise who the legal owner was and that there was a conflict of interest due to probate and litigation. Thankfully we had to part ways.

Every single attempt to get information was met with delays and avoidance.

Excellent Service and efficiency

I used Tayntons back in 2014 for my first house purchase and they were as professional and efficient as they were this year for my second house move. I wouldn't use anyone else and i would recommend them to friends and family. Jenny and her team were friendly and supportive at every stage. Their fees are clear, transparent and fair. Very good communication and an overall straight forward process.

Having dealt with Tayntons through my…

Having dealt with Tayntons through my solicitors for someone purchasing my house it’s been nothing but shocking from start to finish , the lack of response and information is simply not good enough and then after months of trying to draw blood out of a stone with them they then ask at the last minute for more enquiries when all parties verbally agreed a moving date , avoid using these from personal experience unless you like wasting a lot time and effort chasing a company that simply doesn’t care and makes things harder than they should be

DEFNITELY NOT IMPRESSED

As my lifelong solicitor has retired, I am looking for a new legal adviser - initially to help me update my Will and advise me on inheritance planning, although I have lots of investment and business issues to keep a solicitor profitably busy.
So I rang Tayntone, waited for a long time to actually speak with someone and explained my immediate need. I did not mention any other work as I intended my initial inquiry to be a test run. I was told that I would be transferred to the appropriate person, but after another long wait, I was informed that they were engaged and would call me back. I was then asked for my name, address, contact number, e-mail address, date of birth - and, most surprisingly, my NI number! I thought that this was a bit premature, but I povided the information.
I did not get a call back until the next day and then it was to tell me that they had no capacity to take on another "private client" but they would be happy to call me again "in a few months' time"! Needless to say, I told them not to bother, but I also questioned WHY, therefore, had they made such a disturbingly premature request for so much personal and sensitive information - and I was told that this was their standard "company policy"
I have asked for written confirmation that my personal data has been deleted, but I cannot believe that obtaining NI numbers of all callers is regarded as best practice, especially in this day and age of scams and fraud?

Gone downhill since 2020

I used Tayntons back in 2020 and they were brilliant. So when I came to selling my house again in 2024, I didn’t expect any different.

It’s been horrific, my sale has been at the bottom of the pile since November. It’s not complex, a small chain of 3 including me and they are all new builds including my onward.

It’s cost me money, I’ve lost my patience and I’m sick of excuses. They need to pull their socks up big time.

A miserable 18 months

The most miserable and stressful 18 months of my life, thanks to the probate and estate administration department at Tayntons, who were the executors for a deceased family member. Subsequent complaints upheld shortfalls in service provision. I hope I never have to deal with them again.

Unbelievably poor service

Would give no stars if possible.
What an utterly unprofessional and rude company, as if losing a loved one isn’t bad enough, the ones dealing with my son in law and his family are a disgrace, almost 18 months so far and still no sign of being at an end, the stress caused to the family is disgraceful, they refuse to take calls or talk to the family, extremely rude and bang out of order.
I have advised them to contact their local MP and to call another solicitor for advice.
Date of experience is ongoing.

Made a bereavement more stressful than needed

Contacted Tayntons in July 23 last year following a family bereavement. First I was emailed a form to complete which took a few months to get all the details. Had an appointment end of September to submit all details and reading of will. In January hadn’t heard anything after several non returned phone calls threatened to take business elsewhere, suddenly received phone call, from Courtney Craze, to say everything was ready to be sent that day. They’d supposedly had an cyber attack but it hadn’t affected our details. Immediately returned signed paperwork ready for probate court.
Advised probate completed to sign and return forms & pay invoice and they would send papers out. No communication nearly 3 weeks later telephoned 3 times and received no returned call. Phoned again and was told it would be passed to a manager. Eventually received paperwork but some was missing so had to ring again to chase it up.
This isn’t the sort of thing you expect from a solicitor.
I worked for a Solicitor and if we treated clients like this we’d have been fired.
We would not recommend them to anyone and won’t use them again.

The sale of my one bedroomed flat was…

The sale of my one bedroomed flat was agreed over 5 months ago. We still have not even exchanged contracts. Needless to say my level of frustration has reached new levels. I just feel as if my conveyancing file has been at the bottom of the in tray all the time
I have bought and sold many properties and I have never experienced this before.

Sophie Hale was very professional and friendly. We went to Gloucester from Middlesbrough to this solicitors because they were very good in dealing with our many moves so we know they would be professional and understand our personal problems in making our wills. Tayntons….a horrible experience.

Without doubt a very horrible experience. We have moved 3 times in the past 10 years and this was by far the worst solicitor we have dealt with. Caroline Gavin was not pleasant to deal with and in our opinion made a stressful time a lot more stressful. Even on moving day there was a delay in sending an email which spoilt what should have been an enjoyable day. We found that if we didn’t understand something she could be quite abrupt, verging on rude. Overall if asked to recommend Tayntons then the answer is a resounding no.

Professional and helpful

Our first-time property purchase with Caroline was nothing short of exceptional. While there were many factors that were out of our control, Caroline kept us updated and was professional throughout.
