At first the associate assigned to my case was inept, slow and non responsive. After 6 months I complained and got Catherine assigned to my case. After that she was really good at pursuing a good outcome. Once the amended return was submitted, things went well. The IRS was the one that was taking eons to review the amended return. They finally did and my IRS debt went to Zero

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We sincerely apologize for the initial delays and poor communication you experienced—that is certainly not the level of service we strive to provide. We are taking your feedback seriously to ensure our client handoffs and response times are improved across the board.

That being said, we are thrilled that Catherine was able to step in, give your case the dedicated attention it deserved, and help navigate the slow IRS review process to ultimately bring your IRS debt down to zero! Congratulations on getting that resolved, and thank you for sticking with us to reach such a great outcome.

Bad communication.

The job they were hired to do got done. Way too many blue sky predictions, bad communication, and outright lies to get better than a 3 star rating. The salesman promised 6 months to a year for the process. It took 2 years. He flat stopped calling me back after a couple calls asking for updates. I was then passed to an office girl for over a year. The updates were seldom if ever offered, and only after I would call or email would she respond after a few days. I hardly EVER got an update from this company. I paid in monthly payments as was offered to me and I saw zero progress until after my balance was paid off. I was given lots of lies about the delays. I do not recommend this company.

Thank you for acknowledging that the job you hired us to do was successfully completed and your case was resolved.

Complex tax resolution matters often involve government processing timelines, document reviews and procedural requirements that fall outside our direct control. While initial timelines are estimates based on standard cases, IRS and state taxing authorities frequently experience delays that extend the overall timeframe. Our staff focuses on advancing your case through these official channels as efficiently as possible, which often means active work is occurring behind the scenes even when formal government updates are pending.

We appreciate your feedback regarding our communication updates and will use it to refine our client management processes. If you have any remaining questions about your completed file, please feel free to reach out directly to our management team.

Friendly Team, Good Outcome

Team members I worked with was friendly, and tried their best to explain to me how I can get out of the situation I put myself in. I still had my homework to do, which I suck at. Got on good terms with the IRS after filing missing returns and getting on a payment plan.

Desired outcome achieved

It took a little over 4 years, but they were able to help me get nearly $70k in tax debt down a little over $4k for the settlement. They may not negotiate per se, but they did help with filing missing tax returns and every other bit of paperwork the IRS required for an OIC, which is something I wouldn't have been able to do on my own. They were also responsive and made sure timelines were kept throughout the process. John L, Fawnne R, Nicole, G, Niki A, & Isabella T were fantastic. Shout out to them specifically.

8k for promised tax services stolen…

They took almost 8k for promised tax services. After one 30-minute call, they stopped communicating with me. I then disputed the charge with my credit card company and Tax Hardship is telling them I never followed through with a financial form therefore did not complete my obligations. How can I complete my obligations when they throw you paperwork to complete but then never take your calls or emails again for assistance? They ran out the clock on purpose so they can keep the money while providing zero services. These people are complete frauds!!! I will be filing complaints with the California Attorney General, Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, and the BBB and I encourage everyone else scammed by these monsters to do the same!!!

Thank you for your feedback regarding your retainer and communication. We understand how frustrating it is to feel left in the dark when expecting updates on a refund.

Because tax resolution outcomes depend on IRS guidelines, specific results can never be guaranteed, but complete transparency about your account status and refund requests should be. A three-week lapse in communication is unacceptable, and we want to rectify this immediately.

Please reach out to our client resolution management directly at Help@Taxhardshipcenter.com or (877) 829-7099 with your case number or full name. We will prioritize reviewing your account log, verifying your retainer status, and providing you with a clear timeline for your request today.

Sincerely,

The worst service ever, full of crap!

The worst service ever! I'd give them a zero of it was an option. This company scammed me out of $8k I was seeking help to resolve my tax issues. I contacted the Tax hardship center in January. I paid them in January. I haven't heard from them since. No one returns calls or answers messages. This company stole my money and left me in worst shape. It is now July and they haven't even filed the current year's taxes. RUN! Don't walk as far as you can. Do not give this company any money. My only alternative at this point is to file a fraudulent charge with my credit card. If that doesn't work then I will have to sue them in court. I'm writing this review to warn others not to do business work this company. They are a scam!
My review hasn't changed. This company is a scam. Their response is only for show. I called the number they listed and emailed their help center, as instructed- surprise, surprise NO RESPONSE! Small claims court here we come.

We take allegations of non-communication and unfiled returns extremely seriously, and we apologize for the distress this situation has caused. Going six months without updates or seeing progress on your tax filing is completely unacceptable, and we understand your anger.

We want to immediately pull your account logs, investigate why your messages were missed, and review the status of your $8k payment and return status.

Please contact our management team directly at Help@Taxhardshipcenter.com or (877) 829-7099 with your full name and best phone number. We will prioritize your case today to address these issues directly.

When i first contacted them i gave them my financial they said the most I would have
To pay is 7k dollars. The agent who Handel my case asked for the tax files so the could amend my taxes I sent them. When she amended them she had me paying all the taxes again even though she had copies of the taxes paid . I told her my CPA hadn’t use our expense that year her answer to me yes but it won’t cancel the taxes owed well how about reducing what I owe.long story short i owed twice as much after she amended the taxes then before . They charged me a total of 9.5k dollars and it shows I owe more now. I hired another agent and after 3 weeks I got a letter from the IRS saying my filed had been closed due to financial.

We sincerely apologize for the experience you had with your amended tax return and the resulting confusion regarding your balance. Increasing a client’s liability rather than resolving or reducing it—without a clear and transparent explanation of why those adjustments occurred—is certainly not the outcome we strive for.

Because tax situations involve complex IRS regulations and private financial details, we cannot discuss the specifics of your file or fees in a public forum. However, we take issues concerning amended returns and billing disputes very seriously and want to review your account history in detail.

Please contact our management team directly at Help@Taxhardshipcenter.com or (877) 829-7099 with your full name and case details so we can thoroughly audit your file, review the work completed, and address your concerns directly.

Sincerely,

They did nothing and didn't even show…

They did nothing and didn't even show up for our scheduled meeting which I had cleared my calendar to attend. I had to call multiple times to track them down and had already paid $500 by this point. All they did was ask for an additional $3500 in the hopes they could start negotiating with the IRS. What a waste of time and effort.

This company is a scam

This company is a scam. The salespeople were very confident they could reduce our monthly payments, so we ended up hiring them for $5k. Then they came back and said they can’t reduce it at all even though our financial situation has not changed. To make matters worse, the men I spoke to closed the deal by telling me that they were so confident they could help us that if they couldn’t help us they would return our money. This whole thing was a lie, a scam, and a waste of time and money, worsening our financial situation.

My wage was being garnished

My wage was being garnished. I depended on Tax Hardship to help with me with the IRS. There were little to no help from Tax Hardship. I received a consultation phone call from the case manager who was handling my case. They said it will take some time with my IRS resolution. After two months of my wage being garnished, I was the who negotiated with the IRS to release my garnishment.

Tax Hardship Center did not provide any help with resolving my wage garnishment. After numerous attempts on a weekly basis, to contact Tax Hardship, they have not gotten back to me on refunding me my payment.

Tax Harship will promise you that they can take care of your IRS issues. They will take your money upfront. Avoid at all cost. There are other places that can help you.

SCAM

SCAM! I spent $3500 on the tax hardship center in 2023. It is now 2026 and they have still not resolved anything! The only thing they did was drag this out for so long that now I am in a worse situation because the penalties and fees have continued to pile up. I owe more now that I did when I hired them to help me. They are now saying the best they can do is put me on a payment plan with the IRS. No reduction, no waived fees, no negotiated amount, literally nothing was done for that $3500 fee! Can you imagine how much the penalties and late fees have accumulated in 3 years while this company was "working on it"? This company does not communicate with you at all. No letters, no emails, no phone calls. What did they even do for their money? I wish I never hired them. I should have dealt with the IRS directly and would not still be in this situation 2026 where now I am going to pay more that ever! They charged me $3500 to drag this out for 3 years which allowed fees to pile up in the thousands!!! They should refund my money. I am going to file a complaint with the BBB!

Do Not use these people unless you see my next review and all promised work was completed. STAY AWAY!

I have put out over 4000 with this company. They do not call you to discuss your case. Yes they asked me to send in a copy of how much is in the bank to submit to the IRS in order to get this possibly to where i owe nothing. I don't think they are working on my behalf?? Mike called and stated i needed to redo my 2019. I thought with the money I've paid out this should be included for them to fix. Instead i get a freaking email requesting another 500. WTH is going on here? Unless I actually see results, which i will send in another review.... Do not use these people. They give absolutely no feedback about anything, and your always the one doing the contacting. Stay away!!!! SCAMMERS on innocent hardworking folk!!!!!!!! I still have not heard back from Mike about the response of fixing my 2019! I will let you know the outcome. This has been ongoing for almost a year.

BE WARNED-DO NOT USE

I wrote a detailed review on Google, but this company is a scam. I paid $6000 dollars and they did nothing. They do not communicate at all, and you have to wait weeks for any sort of update even though you are emailing and leaving voicemails. This is not a rant but a warning as I just experienced this. I will be suing for my Money back once I get my tax issues finally rectified. Please be warned and please do not give a dime of your money to these people. The only time I got a response in minutes was when I told them I am no longer their client. The response was "Thank you we will close your account" and that's it. I have e-mail proof to share. Do not use. Do not use!

Nobody is perfect

Nobody is perfect, that is why the 4 star vs 5 star rating. Early on more facts about the IRS and its ability to get decisions about the Fresh Start programs and breakdown of how one fits in. Otherwise, the Tax relief personnel was led in my case with Katherine Hess as my case manager and facts were not coming to her at times for weeks/months at a time. Katherine was a delight to work with, always took the time to make sure I understood what was going on and back it up with data. I am grateful to her service, expertise and patience where I was concerned.
