Unresolved Tax Process in over 1 year.

It has now been over a year since I entrusted your company with managing my U.S. tax process, first under the supervision of Fanny Geldres and now with Kalina Ivanova. What was supposed to be a professional, reliable service has turned into an exhausting, unresponsive, and frankly unacceptable experience.

As a direct result of your company’s incompetence and lack of accountability, I have been denied a U.S. visa for the second time. I was explicitly told my tax process would be completed by this month, which is why I scheduled my visa appointment accordingly—only to be left without answers for over four months, despite multiple follow-ups.

I have submitted all required documentation, including the updated state form this month, and once again, no reply, no updates, no responsibility.

At this stage:
• I have lost $180 due to the visa denial.
• I have no clarity on the status of the process.
• I am beginning to believe that I have been scammed.

If I do not receive an immediate, concrete response and resolution, I will:
1. Initiate legal action to recover all payments made.
2. File a formal complaint with consumer protection entities.
3. Share my experience publicly on professional platforms like LinkedIn, so other professionals do not fall victim to the same lack of ethics and professionalism.

I am sending this also through e-mail attaching all the correspondence with dates and my client number. I will wait until 30.06.2025 for your response and solve this situation. After that, I will proceed accordingly.

We researched further, and we can see that you contacted us in February 2024 to file your overdue 2019 tax return. As you did not have a Social Security Number, we guided you through the ITIN application process. Once we received the required documents in July 2024, we filed your Federal return and requested that you notify us when the ITIN was issued.

After receiving your ITIN and a new Colorado authorization form in January 2025, we submitted your State return. As there has been no update from the Colorado tax office, we’ve requested a renewed authorization to follow up.

Please note that due to the distant year of the return being filed for, the US authorities do not prioritise processing such claims. Taxback has no control over the decisions of a competent authority and hence cannot and does not guarantee any processing timeframes.

While we understand your concern about your visa, please note that this is unrelated to the services provided by Taxback. We remain available to follow up on the Colorado claim once we receive the required authorization form.

I would not suggest their services to anyone, not even as a joke.

Having submitted every item required to them well in advance and attempting to call or use their live chat. I was left with silence. I finally received a response, several days prior to the Canadian return Deadline and I believe only because I suggested I want to withdraw using their service. I received a discount on their rate as a result of my complaint on delay and my complaint on some of the worst customer service ever.

To fast forward to today, others I know submitting a tax return in identical circumstances (first time return, living in the same place etc) however submitting their claim with WealthSimple instead, recieved their return weeks ago.

To query if something had gone wrong and ask for an update, i tried to reach out to the still non-existent 'live chat' service or call their number. I eventually received an email back as there was 'no operators available'.

I received a snarky response saying that they are also waiting on the return as and I quote:
"our fee is there as well as your refund, so I would say we are more interested in this application to be finalized as soon as possible than you". Outrageous.

I am now stuck waiting until August i'm told for a simple tax return (single income stream, no foreign income earned during the tax year, no other circumstances).

I would not suggest this service to anyone, even as a some cruel joke.

First of they chase you until your…

First of all they chase you until your claim is not submitted to HMRC. Once your claim has been submitted, literally they will block your number when you ask for an update on the application. It just happened to me after 3 weeks I sent a message on Whatsapp to +44 7536 444773 asking for an update. This lady literally just blocked me without replying. Something seems dodgy if this is how taxbax team works!!!!

Terrible customer service and incredibly slow

I submitted all the documents for my Canadian tax return in February. I have heard nothing since and have not received any money. Every time I try to contact the company I get no response. There is no way that it is actually taking this long. I am convinced TaxBack is keeping the money for their own personal gains. I may never see my tax return at this point.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS - Withholding My Money and Ignoring All Contact

I initially used Taxback to process my Canadian tax refund. The process was painfully slow from the beginning, but things took a far worse turn after the Canadian Revenue Agency (CRA) amended and released my refund over two months ago.

Since then, I’ve had absolutely no response from Taxback - no update, no confirmation, nothing. I’ve contacted them through every available channel: email, live chat etc. All have been ignored. My assigned “tax manager” seems to have vanished and has done nothing to manage or even acknowledge my case.

Despite me providing proof that the CRA issued the funds, Taxback has gone silent. It’s now clear that they are either withholding my money or are operating with total negligence. Either scenario is completely unacceptable.

What’s worse is the irony that the company claims to be “customer-centric” - they are anything but. The stress, time and frustration this has caused me is immense. I want to make it absolutely clear: I will be reporting Taxback to the Canadian Revenue Agency, relevant Irish and EU regulatory bodies, and I am actively seeking independent legal advice. Their conduct is unacceptable, and I intend to hold them accountable.

I’ve given them every opportunity to resolve this privately. They’ve chosen to ignore me. So now I’m warning others: do not trust this company with your money. I’ll be sharing my story and evidence across social media to ensure no one else ends up in this position.

This is no longer just a complaint - it’s a formal escalation. And I’m not stopping here.

EDIT: Thanks for finally responding here - although I’ve already emailed your support team multiple times to no avail, including my most recent message sent on 22/05/2025 at 20:10. Since those messages have been ignored, I’ll resend that email now to ensure you have it again.

I won’t be posting my full name on a public forum for privacy reasons, but your team should have no issue locating my case using the timestamp above.

I expect a resolution immediately.

Think twice before making an application

I submitted my application in March 2024 and, having received no updates, I followed up via email in April. I was then informed that additional information was required (it would have been helpful to not have to email to get this request for additional info). This information was subsequently provided by me on two separate occasions. As of May 2024, I have still not received any update on the status of my application. This lack of communication and the delayed processing of my application is very disappointing and unprofessional.

I filed for my non resident Canadian…

I filed for my non resident Canadian tax return with this company in march and I have yet to receive my money! Any time I request an update I get an automated email but have not heard from an actual person! I don’t recommend this company at all their customer service is terrible and at this stage I’m not sure I’ll ever see my return

On the 10th of September 2024 they…

On the 10th of September 2024 they received my Taxreturn from the ATO (Australian Goverment Office) and they just don't transfer it to me.

They’re just holding on to it and won’t send it to my account. It’s unbelievable.

And now? They’re telling me they’ll refund my registration fee instead. Seriously? It feels like they’re just taking my money.

Rude & cancel application without any warning

I was in the process of applying for my Australien super, until they suddenly cancelled my application, without a warning or anything. I asked multiple times, if I was able to get information on an Australien Bank, instead of an Irish one, so I didn’t have to pay the 30$ overseas transaction fee. I knew they were able to do it, because my friend did it with the proper bank info. They didn’t wanna answer my question, and end up just closing my application/ticket without any warning…

I then asked them what was going on, and they just applied with
“You didn’t provide us with the correct information in time. Now to advice you how to claim your supper – find another service provider.“ so rude and unprofessional
