Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Looking at 552 reviews, most reviewers were unhappy with their experience overall. Consumers frequently reported unexpected, extremely high charges and very frustrating billing practices without proper transparency or advance notice. People also mentioned that customer support was extremely difficult to reach and completely unhelpful when attempting to resolve various account problems. However, some customers also noted that their individual healthcare providers were exceptionally kind, attentive, and professional during scheduled virtual sessions. Reviewers additionally found that the online platform made initial appointment scheduling, communicating with staff, and receiving necessary medication prescriptions much more straightforward and accessible for everyone involved.

AI phone prompt

AI phone prompt: Getting to an actual live rep is someone who can barely speak English and is useless. Avoid at all costs. Save your time and sanity. They will drive you crazy so you can pay their outrageous prices to get you diagnosed and medicated. Their business model is to sell the problem and offer the solution. Fire Belle.

BE CAREFUL OF THIS SERVICE

BE CAREFUL OF THIS SERVICE! AVOID AVOID AVOID!
They advertise that they work with most insurance companies and most co-pays are $30. Without a notification, a bill, or even time for my insurance company to send me an EOB (explanation of benefits) they charged my card $300. It hasn't even been 2 weeks since my first appointment. When I called I discuss, they basically said, "It's up to your insurance, talk to them. You put the card on file which gave us permission." HORRIBLE business practice.

Talkietry is great

Talkietry is great. Wonderful therapists and it’s so convenient. I can’t just go and drive to therapy. I don’t have time and I don’t live near anything. This is so easy..

Like all the other 1 star reviews

Like all the other 1 star reviews, website has claims of inexpensive services but impossible to be nail down an actual price before. Billed my insurance $650, United paid half leaving me with a balance of $325. Now I get a weekly collections call from IC systems (for the rest of my life).

John Banks was the therapist that I spoke with. He was very genuine and made me feel very comfortable. He was super easy to talk to. I really wasn’t expecting all of that. I would hands-down recommend him . He is a true asset to your company. I hope he gets the recognition he deserves.

Scammy Billing Practices

The actual providers (psychiatrist and therapist) were wonderful. Talkiatry as a platform is predatory in their billing practices. During my time utilizing talkiatry, my insurance changed. I provided that information exactly as the online platform requests. I was never contacted to inform me that my insurance was no longer accepted. No email, no phone call, and nothing noted on the website. Thinking I had coverage, I continued to attend sessions, running up a huge bill. Only after seeing the charges and calling for clarification was I informed my new insurance was not accepted. When paying bills, the card you put on file will continue to charged at due date of any open bills until the balance is cleared. Even though you only enter the card information for and agree to pay just a single bill. No agreement ahead of time on amounts or dates, they just pull the money. I never agreed to leave any card on file, it’s their automatic policy, The only way to have that payment form removed is to call them. Again, nothing on the website. I now have a $1,800 balance. When contacting them about a payment plan for the large balance, there were only two options. Two monthly payments of $900 each or four bi-weekly payments of $450. This is a new policy, as of a few weeks ago, they had acceptable payment plans of $100-ish a month. Talkiatry allows users to generate large balances by not keeping them informed when changes are made via insurance and then collects that money via shady practices without keeping consumers informed.

The absolute worst platform to be apart…

The absolute worst platform to be apart of. If I could warn every single person possible to not use them, I would. There’s a “customer service” department that truly needs to not be called that. I called someone out for lying and she hung up on me. Funny thing is, their calls are recorded..

Absolute Joke Psychiatrist

My “psychiatrist” was late. On top of that, he spent 30 minutes asking me questions to not listen to my initial complaint. I have a history of depression and have been medicated in the past. Asked to be put back on the medicine. Literally gave him the medicine names and doses I was on. Instead, he decides I need “trauma therapy” and “substance abuse help” because I said I drink socially once a month and have had a traumatic experience in which I told him doesn’t really affect me anymore. Said he was going to refer me to somebody, literally never heard back. I wouldn’t be surprised if this place is just some scam.

Caring Providers

Talkiatry's providers care. It's that simple. I went in just needing medication management. Found out I also needed someone on my side, working with me to address my needs. Talkiatry provided both.

Do NOT use Talkiatry

For those interested in additional details, they can reference many hundreds of complaints also filed w/ the BBB and see they are similar to mine and to what is here on Trust Pilot. The bottom line - I should have known better, I should have asked for pricing ahead of time, or even better, I should have checked BBB and Trust Pilot to see what others before me had to share. I believe that Talkiatry’s pricing practices are highly unethical and I would urge anyone to NOT use them if there are other options and there definitely are. Talkiatry charged $791 in a claim to my insurance company for a one hour psychotherapy appointment. The bill I received was for $499, adjusted after insurance. However, after talking with Talkiatry, I learned that if I hadn’t used insurance the cost to me would only have been $399 out of pocket. Granted, that $399 would not go to my out-of-pocket deductible for insurance purposes and of course, that would be a hit to the pocketbook that would be bigger than paying the lesser charge of $399. (The fact that medical service providers are allowed to know the details about our deductible is a whole other issue that should be addressed by our legal system. ) The bottom line is don’t use companies that have unethical pricing practices, because apparently it’s all legal. They’re ok being unethical as long as it’s legal. Again, I would urge amyone who asked, do NOT use Talkiatry.

All aspects of seeking care and finding…

All aspects of seeking care and finding a provider were conducted with ease. My provider demonstrated care and I had a true connection. I haven't finished all of the billing process, but it appears to be seamless with my insurance. Talkiatry provides communication before and after my visit and has provided me great customer service.

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. The doctor never showed up and they still charged me 100.00. THIS HAPPENED TWICE. I've spoken to three other people and the same thing happened to them too. They refused refunds on both occasions. My insurance, United Healthcare won't cover them either apparently, because of their history of poor quality of care. Choose another platform like Medvidi.
