I had an unknown malady that was…

I had an unknown malady that was wrecking my life. I stumbled upon Talkiatry and found a psychiatrist who immediately knew what I was dealing with and how to resolve it. Now, I have been consistently seeing doctors via the practice and I am always impressed by the quality of the doctors. The app/web platform are continually updated, so what is a frustrating tech headache has been resolved over time.

Please be aware before using this platform

Please be aware before using this service.

I did not receive meaningful assistance from these therapists. During my visits, I was primarily asked questions, while the therapist appeared to be unsure how to provide actual guidance or support. After my second visit, the therapist even acknowledged that I would not be receiving the help I was looking for.

Despite this, I was still billed for the services, and I believe the billing to both me and my insurance company was inappropriate. I am now being threatened with collections over an unpaid balance that I dispute.

I am extremely disappointed with this experience and do not feel that I received the services I was charged for. I would strongly encourage others to carefully research this practice and understand exactly what they are being billed for before using their services.

Charged for Services Not Rendered

This company charged me for an appointment that never took place. I was not able to sign in to meet with the provider, and yet I was charged $100. I didn't pay it, and they kept hounding me. When I reached out to customer service, they were not able to reverse the charge. Stay away from this company.

They kept canceling five times.

I scheduled an appointment right away with Mandy Gentry and really liked her. Scheduled an appointment two weeks later for a follow up. She cancelled my appointment two minutes before my appointment. I rescheduled another appointment. The day before, she cancelled the appointment. I reschedule. The hour before, she cancelled my appointment. I rescheduled a fourth time. An hour before, she cancelled my appointment. I called upset because if I cancel or miss an appointment I get charged $100 and this is not respectful of my time. I asked for a new psychiatrist. I was told I had to wait 10 days. I was matched, scheduled one week out. Two hours before my appointment, the new psychiatrist cancelled my appointment. I would have been charged $500 had this been the other way around. 10/10 do not recommend.

Dr McColl (Talkiatry)

Dr. McColl was very thorough and was willing for me to try natural supplements instead of prescribing drugs. He was the first doctor I've been to where that had been the case!

Great experience

It was so easy to register as a patient, and logging on to the session was also easy. The doctor was very professional but congenial and thorough. I've been in therapy off and on for almost 50 years, and I wish this had been available in 1980.

Major scam bait and switch

Major scam company. On the phone said they were in network with Insurance. Appointment for my child to maintain medication they've been using long term. Charged $500 for 1/2 hour - used 2 codes (1 for therapy even though all we asked for when making appointment was medication mgmt) to double dip. I get to pay $317 out of pocket. Called to complain twice. They stick by it. They are scammers who use a bait and switch for children with medication. Stay away from them.

I will not do psychiatry anywhere else…

I will not do psychiatry anywhere else but here, hands down. My doctor was super awesome; I felt like I could be myself. He was on point about everything. This is awesome! I did not have to go to an office, just right there at my house.

Negative Stars If I Could

I left Talkiatry a while ago after my therapist left the practice. To be clear, my therapist was absolutely amazing and was never the problem. Unfortunately, my experience with Talkiatry as a company was a completely different story.

The billing practices were extremely frustrating and, in my experience, lacked transparency. At one point, Talkiatry refunded a payment I had already made and then later sent the alleged balance to collections. When I questioned the charges and asked for documentation showing that these were actually my bills and how the amount owed had been calculated, they were unable to provide sufficient documentation to substantiate the debt.

Having a medical provider send an account to collections while being unable to clearly demonstrate what the charges were for, that they belonged to me, and how the balance was determined was incredibly stressful and concerning.

What makes this especially disappointing is that a company whose entire purpose is to provide mental health care ended up creating even more stress and anxiety through its billing and administrative practices.

For a beginner to therapy, she exceeded any expectations.

This was my first time ever speaking to a psychiatrist or therapist of any specialty. I was terrified and overwhelmed trying to get the virtual visit started but Shana was extremely easy to talk to and never made me feel uncomfortable or like I was a burden for needing her services. She acted quickly and promptly getting me in touch with an additional therapist and her body language and demeanor never made me perceive it as I was just another client of hers. It was nice to connect with someone and feel comfortable and validated in my feelings.

Talkiatry is great! Love my Dr!

Talkiatry is great! I’m pretty much an introvert and have wicked white coat syndrome; so the fact that I could do a video call for something that was stressing me out so badly, was great!

Dr Laski is amazing! I was so nervous prior to my appointment (literally shaking) and my anxiety was through the roof! Dr Laski has such a calm nature and I really appreciated his nonjudgmental attitude. I would HIGHLY recommend him!!!!
