I like the idea of being able to pay whenever I’m ready — it definitely avoids those moments where you’re waiting around trying to get the bill. It’s not something that completely changes everything,... See more

This is truly a scam. Shame on this App, shame on the restaurants adipting this app. This is Unethical and deceptive. Hidden fees and review gatekeepers. This app is the death of hospitality

This should be illegal. Passing a convenience fee onto a customer, when it’s a convenience for a restaurant to not have to handle the rigamarole of getting and processing checks. Restaurants should pa... See more

Sunday saved me time and effort.

Was in a rush and needed to split the bill with some friends. Scanned the QR Code, super easy to split, and for only $.49 was definitely worth the time saver of asking the server for split checks. Will use again.

A good thing made evil!

The idea itself is great... But to make it impossible to remove (or reduce) the service charge is dodgy. Addition convenience fees are extra dodgy. The way these fees are obfuscated is borderline illegal...

Who is this supposed to be conveinint…

Who is this supposed to be conveinint for? It took us longer to figure out paying this way than it would be to just pay normally. Its an inconveince for me and to add more of an insult, I had to pay sundayapp a fee for them being an unnecessary middleman. Resturants should just accept credit cards like everyone else on the planet does - the system works so follow along please. I told the resturant I wont come back because of sundayapp and because the 22% minumum gratuity. Next resturant I visit with sundayapp or similar payment systems, I am walking out to find another place to eat

BEWARE--FEE SCAM

BEWARE--FEE SCAM
I used the Sunday app at Seven Reasons in DC and was charged a $5.99 fee to pay my dinner bill. No disclosure about the fee, no justification for it. What a ridiculous scam.

Imagine having to pay a fee, in order to pay...well, that's Sunday!

This has happened twice to me now, both at Gloria and then again at Lantana, where both restaurants use this app to 'help' customers.

At both places I was instructed to use the Sunday app to pay, via scanning a QR code. I don't mind doing that, that's not a problem. What I have a problem with is the staff NEVER telling customers there is a £2.00 (£1.69 to be precise) fee in order to pay. I'm not sure if it's Sunday or Lantana that also request a 14% service charge, which you can't change, that is above the norm of 10-12.5%.

No customer should have to pay a fee, in order to pay their bill. It shows a lack of ethics on the part of the people that created the app. For my part, I won't be visiting either restaurant again, as I don't like feeling taken advantage of.

Poor app

Poor app. Hidden charges. Cons you into paying way more than appropriate, including a fee to use the app.

Very sneaky hidden fee

Very sneaky hidden fee, no way to remove it or adjust service charges, and even ask for additional tip on top of service charges for the app.
A non optional £.79 charge to pay through it and no way to dispute the added cost not advertised by any of the merchants.

Hidden fees and dirty tactic

Dined at Big Mamma using Sunday, they tried to charge an additional fee for the privilege of using their terminals which was not disclosed prior to dining. When I complained, staff told me there was nothing they can do, the rate is set by Sunday and Big Mamma has no control over it - a quick Google showed that Sunday is owned by the same people as Big Mamma, so clearly just a ploy to get more money in their pocket. Has put me off Big Mamma, and where I see Sunday now in a restaurant, I try to avoid.

Avoid Scammy app - don't use it

Pay a fee to pay my restaurant bill? No, thanks.

How it works: a restaurant will ask you to pay through the QR code and the app will add a fee to your bill. Usually your bill already includes a service charge. So you are getting charged service charge + the app fee.

Warning: if you go to any of the Big Mamma restaurants you'll be asked to use this as the founder of the Big Mamma group is also the founder of the app.

I plan to avoid any restaurant using this.

Tipping trauma

I used this app at Strada Southbank as I wished to pay quickly in order to catch a train. It creates a very confusing bill that gives the impression service charge is voluntary and asks for a specific tip. As a result I tipped twice….something which wasn’t clear until the payment had gone through. I asked the restaurant to sort this out but am still waiting for it to be resolved.

$5 hidden fee to pay a bill at my…

$5 hidden fee to pay a bill at my table. No mention on the table QR sign of the fee to pay. Didn't see it listed when I reviewed my bill prior to paying. Then a $4.99 fee appeared on my emailed receipt from Sunday. Ruined a positive meal experience with a "more than an ATM fee" charge that was not disclosed prior to me paying. I felt scammed. Will not return to this restaurant and I'd been there a lot.

Daylight Robbery

I scanned the QR code on the table to pay the bill as told to by the staff, expecting a normal online/app transaction. However, the Sunday App charged an additional "checkout fee" on top of the service charge, which couldn’t be removed! Then it asks if I want to add a tip! Literally fleecing me of money on an already expensive bill.

The staff in Big Mama Group are notoriously slow and avoid you when it comes time to pay, so you have to be quite determined to get hold of them. It must be a training tactic to force you to pay via QR code and pay over the odds. Also I’m sure this ‘checkout fee’/‘tech fee’ is actually illegal and I’ll be reporting them.

The app expects customers to pay the same service charge as before, plus an extra fee for the supposed “convenience,” despite reducing the service needed and experienced per customer. It’s simply unacceptable.

I feel really taken advantage of and disappointed. I've decided not to revisit any restaurant that uses this app and imposes such extra charges.
