Extremely long approval process
Couldn’t even get through the door. My account was in approval limbo so long I gave up. They also don’t respond to emails. Even after you put “Expedite” in the subject line as instructed in the approval process. Wack ass site
Unbelievable.
I confirmed I was an adult with it's age verification thing and it slaps me in the face with a login wall.
Sure bud. Whatever you say.
Horrible customer service!
Horrible website with zero customer service
I was unable to change tier levels for a creator as the website has glitches so I emailed the company twice but received no help. Company does not respond to email support requests. There is lso no chat option and they dont answer the phone.. I just canceled my last subscription on here and moved to another platform. Out of 4 platforms I use this is the worst!
Connection with russians
Don't know why it has russian language, looks suspicious, based on the comments, support often doesn't answer, don't recommend it
They are unprofessional and they only…
They are unprofessional and they only respond to you if you have a blue checkmark, but they have no problem scamming you and charging you more money.
Terrible
i've been waiting to be approved for 1 year and still sothing, support NEVER answers and it seems that I'm not the only one since a lot of people have the same issue
added age verification that sucks and…
added age verification that doesn't work
Scam!
Scam!
If you upgrade your plan 1 day before renewal, you will be charged THE ENTIRE difference, THEN the next day youll be charged the entire renewal. No prorated amount.
Support sends a copypaste response and keeps the money.
Dont ever use this service.
Waited 2 months after all documentation…
Waited 2 months after all documentation was provided just to be denied and told to increase my presence online, even though I have one. Don't waste your time unless desperate.
Abusive
Since I registered on the site in August, my account has still not been validated by a moderator and I can't work properly. They don't answer any emails (I sent more than 10, then one per day).
These are people who don't care, abusive. I wonder if they are proud of being so bad in the evening when they come home.
Worst creator platform out there
Worst creator platform out there. I supplied all the requested documentation, and after 8 months, my account was still not approved. Tried contacting support numerous times to see what the holdup was and never heard a thing back.
Found out this is a common experience for new creators. New accounts just seem to hang in limbo with no sign of ever getting approved. They seem to have zero care factor, or their system is severely understaffed. Either one is bad.
So yeah, terrible creator support. Basically, non-existent. Avoid like the plague. There's plenty of better alternatives out there.
So if you're a creator of any kind...
So if you're a creator of any kind, do yourself a favor and don't sign onto SubscribeStar. The short answer is due to the fact that if you have a subscriber on your page, you can't delete your account until they unsubscribe. I never had a large audience, mostly due to my physical and mental health issues making it difficult for me to keep active on anything like this, but that in itself isn't why I'm saying all this. The reason is that, if you're trying to delete your account and you have a subscriber on your page still, you can't do it. Here's the kicker though that I didn't mention yet, and that there's no viable way to REMOVE the Subscriber still latched onto your creator page. I've been working at this for a couple hours now, and I've had no luck at all in figuring out how to remove the last Subscriber from my creator account that stopped paying a while ago now. And their customer service is practically nonexistent since when I tried to use the link they provide, I just got a blank page with no sign of anything loading up, meaning I think their customer support is just as nonexistent. On top of that, I've come to the conclusion that the 'Subscriber' I've got is just a bot to prevent creators from deleting their accounts.
So yeah, do yourself a favor, DO NOT use SubscribeStar if you're a creator.
Bad service to contact them
I decided to try SS, because Patreon has limited and controlled the creativity of many creators, even monitoring what the creator does outside of this platform.
Anyway, I heard about SS and I got interested.
To start with it is slow, they say it is because they get a lot of new profiles to review.
In my case it took about 1 week for them to check my profile in ''YOUR PROFILE IS UNDER REVIEW'' status, I had to send the links to my social networks, from there they told me that I had to put my SS url on those social networks.
I did it, from there they sent me an email that my profile was approved on August 27 2024, after confirming it I decided to remove the links from my profile and make my first post that same day, but after doing that my profile was returned to ''YOUR PROFILE IS UNDER REVIEW'' again :/.
Since that moment when they changed my profile to restricted I have tried to contact them to find out what happened, until today October 28, 2024 I have not received any response.
Customer support is horrible
Customer support is horrible on this site. I'm a creator and I earn around ~1000 each month so I'd consider myself a small creator. I rarely get responses to my emails and if I do it's a very long time after I sent it.
SubscribeStar's Customer Support is none existent.
I personally switched over to SubscribeStar from Patreon when Patreon started to be ridiculous with its community guidelines and content policy, and in addition to monitoring what people post outside their platform.
SubscribeStar seemed like a good alternative, and it was for a while. I used the sub-domain for adult content. Payouts worked fine.
At some point, my account got shadowbanned. It could not be reached through insite search and any links I had previously to my account were now invalid. The site would prompt am outside user to create an account/log in, but wouldn't take the user to MY account after. Those already subscribed could still find my page via link.
Any emails or DMs would not be replied to by SubscribeStar's customer support. It's been well over a year now and there are still no replies, no nothing to my questions regarding this and I've simply given up a long time ago.
Was it some tag I used, some content I posted, or was it because I had a creative burnout and didn't post as regularly? I will never know, since no one answered.
If I remember correct, there were a "account will be paused if not active for 2weeks" in their TOS, but you'd think it'd be fine once you started to post regularly again. Which I did do, yet still nothing.
6 years back, I would have recommended this site, but now I can't and I won't. If you are able, find something else. Use a more reliable site, maybe even stick to Patreon but be mindful of their content policy and community guidelines; they at least potentially will answer your questions.
Maybe use some other sites, which will have have you censor your content, due to e.g. Japanese laws, but at least the site would work and possibly offer better support to you as a creative.
Sadly SubscribeStar, that seemed like a good alternative to Patreon, is not that. Don't use the site.
One of the creators I followed moved to…
One of the creators I followed moved to this site so I created an account for it. I tried to pay with my credit and debit cards but they are all denied saying that it is an error. I contacted support for the issue and got absolutely no reply.
Only one of its kind
Patreon is ridiculous, running your own website while handling payments is ridiculous, onlyfans doesn’t allow heavy kink stuff (really?). Subscribestar has trouble accepting my subscribers card’s half of the time and as a european, I had SO MUCH trouble filling in my own bank info. The vast majority of my subscribers are american or canadian because everyone else has so much trouble with it…. I have had to illegally distribute my disgustingly explicit and problematic porn comic trough ko-fi of all things for 20% of my buyers because subscribestar wouldn’t take their cards.
I also wanted to post my comic on subscribestar itself but it sorts it really strangely and has no way to make a folder for it, so that didn’t work either which was dissapointing, so I had to settle for a google drive file.
All this mess aside, it does hide links from unsubscribed viewers of my page so thats a plus. Subscribestar allows everything, it understands that fiction is fiction, and it’s the only service that has no guidelines for fictional porn. The payment measures are unfortunate but Paypal literally doesn’t allow this sort of thing so they can’t work with them to fix it.
Subscribestar, please, fix the card issue and you have 5 stars from me. I would love to stick with you guys for a few years but so many people are struggling with paying for your service. All of us are missing out on money.
Solid Patreon Alternative
My account was verified quickly, in two or three days. I wanted to switch because my content is in a gray area for Patreon and I don't trust them to rule in my favor despite not technically breaking their rules.
I've been using SubscribeStar Adult for almost two years now I believe, and these are my only complaints.
1. Payments take forever to process. Sometimes the full 14 days they suggest. Patreon pays out every 24 hours, why on earth can't SubscribeStar? Usually its faster than 14 days, let's say 10 days for the money to become available, and maybe 5 to pay out once requested but man. It's problematic. That money is my paycheck. People need their paychecks.
2. Payout amounts change. I went from needing $30 to pay out to needing $150 to pay out to needing $50 to pay out in the course of 4 months. Nothing changed on my end. Thankfully I'm over the threshold, but sometimes I get $49 that I'd like to pay out during the month I earned it and not 30 days later or whatever. Huge pain. And also really problematic for new creators. Makes it difficult to get started.
3. Storage. They claim they will charge more for storage. This is a platform for content, make buying storage an option?? Patreon doesn't seem to care about file size. Because it's a website for distributing content. Seems pretty straightforward.
4. Blocking people. I would like to block people that act inappropriately on my page. Not currently an option.
5. This one is really inconsequential, but a complaint of mine none the less. No video thumbnails.
Don't even bother trying
Wanted to use it as a subscription service instead of Patreon, I use Patreon and make just under $200/month there, but I have to manage all rewards and such through a private discord since the content I draw is no longer allowed there, this is a major f***ing hassle, so I wanted to switch to SubscribeStar.adult because they are a lot less content-restrictive. That's where the problem comes in though, my account has been "Pending Review" or whatever for WELL OVER A YEAR. I tried their "expedite" bull****, I've tried sending follow up emails, I've tried to message their twitter account (which closed their dms by the way, probably so they could keep ignoring people easier), and NOTHING, not a single response at all. They do not care about creators at all. And I'm posting this review to let them know they're actively missing out on money they could be making since they want to just ignore their applicants. I've made over $2000 on Patreon while waiting for SubscribeStar to bother even glancing at my emails. At least change your stupid useless FAQ to say "we'll get to it when we get to it" instead of boasting about reviews happening in "between 24 and 72 hours-."
At this point even if they decide to someday approve me I don't know if I even want to use it anymore. Abysmal support.
Near perfect experience for creators
Been happily using them as a creator for two years. Members have reported no issues with their payments to me and payouts have been quick. One of the last bastions for adult artists to earn a living with memberships that doesn't try to dictate whether your fiction is "harmful" or not. Recommended for BDSM aligned creators and artists. SubscribeStar values us and gives us the tools needed to prevent mass-scale scraping of our content.
Not 5 stars because email notifications could be improved (only email people about posts they can access) - and support can be a bit slow to reply.
