I do not recommend Splend to anyone out…

I do not recommend Splend to anyone out there who’s trying to do Uber Driver at all. Stay away from this company who will rip you off at the earliest chance. I stayed with them for few years and they ripped me off at every time something went wrong! I have had a horrible experience with Splend in Nedlands. They used to charge me over $600 for an electric vehicle every single week and if anything happens like a little dent in the car, they will rip me off with $1500 excess policy! They force you to go with their insurance company and they designed it in a way to make you pay for most of the repairs with $1500 excess insurance. If you are late like few days in paying off your weekly pay, they activate a traumatising beeping sound in the car that you cannot move more than 100 meters before it starts to beep! And if you don’t pay your access insurance straight away, they start to threaten you to take the car straight away from you or making you pay the full repair! This guy Trevor in their branch in Nedlands Wa called me nasty and he abused me with his words so many times trying to put me down and making fun of me just because I couldn’t pay the $1500 excess when someone hit my car and ran away! Every driver I met was trying to leave them and expressed the same anger and emotions about them! They simply make you make $700 net profit after 7 days of work 10 hours a day with Uber! It’s more like slavery! I met this Indian guy when I was charging the Tesla and he was so angry with them and said the same thing that they ripped him off and he’s not making any money, and it’s Less than what a MacDonald worker would earn. One day someone hit my car and ran away! Trevor sent me an invoice of $1400 and he never provided me with any detailed invoice by the repairer! He typed it himself in the computer trying to fool me! The last incident I had with them is when I realised I must stop working as an Uber driver as I am being enslaved making $700 net profit after 7 days a week 10 hours a day because by the time you pay your energy which is around $200 and $200 in GST and taxes and Splend used to charge up to $600 every week after adding their excess KM charges, I ended up with $750 per week after working 7 days a week 10 hours a day! so when I decided to take back the car, they sent me a bill of $2880 for simple wear and tear thing on the power steering and where I used to rest my arm. The Invoice had a different registration number of my car. I have been quoted $500 to fix the torn items by someone else. They even took $99 for the keycard of the Tesla even the card was completely functional and it had a bit of wear and tear on it. They also changed the whole power steering for $1500 even it was only the leather torn on the outside and they could have changed the leather only. In short, do not believe them when they say you will make $3500 per week. That’s a big lie! You only going to end up with $750 in your account after 7 days a week 10 hours a day! Do not go with them they will rip you off! This is my honest opinion after going with them for few years! My opinion is based on my real experience with them! They are a company with full of hidden charges they will hit you with when things go wrong! I repeat! Do not go with them! They traumatised me! True story!

I back to revew again because I got…

I back to revew again because I got mentally effects by sydney Splend company. I am getting keep on mail ftom one of the collection person as pay your out standing money $1480.
I got car on march last year 2024. i paid all weekly payments until one year time period. I got one accident also i paid $1500 as a excess payment. After got accident they didn't even call me to repair the car. I have returned the car this year march 2025. When I returned the car they checked the car and said to me all good and we will make you refund. I got refund after 4 weeks time. When was overseas in November I got massage from Sydney Splend as like we try to get money $1480from your bank account but couldn't. I shocked. Because they didn't advice or they didn't inform to me but try to get money from my card after 8 months. I don't know why. They are until now keep sending emails pay this money. I am asking the puplic. Are you going to pay any money without reson? Please tell me. even after the settlement the car. They saying now reson it was on professional period. I don't know why they didn't ask this on before hand over the car why asking after 8 months. Any child can answer this question. I am asking the Splend what is the answer for my concerns. please open your mouth. Thanks

I want to be completely fair and honest…

I want to be completely fair and honest in this review. I did have a few missed payments during my time with Splend, and there was also a keyed scratch on the frunk that happened while the vehicle was in my possession. I have never denied these mistakes, and I was willing to take responsibility for them.

However, the way Splend handled everything after I returned the vehicle has been extremely stressful and disappointing.

I returned the car on 24/10/2025 at 4:40pm, still within business hours, and had already paid $499 for the week of 20–26 October, meaning there were 2 unused days that should have been credited. Despite this, Splend issued multiple incorrect invoices, including charges for a week when I no longer had the car.

They also added a $1,836 “4-week notice period” fee, even though they were the ones who terminated the agreement. They were unable to show any clear clause in their own contract that justifies this charge in my situation.

The most concerning part is the inbound vehicle inspection. It was carried out days after I returned the vehicle, and the report contains a signature that is not mine. I was not present for that inspection, and I never signed that document. This raises serious concerns about the accuracy and integrity of their inspection process.

Splend also attempted to debit my bank account over 30 times after the vehicle was returned and while charges were still in dispute. On top of this, they continued sending aggressive “final demand” emails and threatening credit defaults instead of resolving the invoice errors properly.

I am still willing to pay any legitimate, correctly calculated charges — including the damage I caused — but the overall experience with Splend has been extremely stressful due to the incorrect invoices, unclear fees, repeated debit attempts, and inaccurate documentation.

This experience has shown me that even if you admit your own mistakes and try to resolve things fairly, Splend’s processes can still leave you dealing with incorrect charges, unclear fees, and aggressive collection behaviour. Future customers should be extremely careful and understand exactly what they’re agreeing to before signing anything.

Well done, Donny 👏🏽👍🏽👏🏽

Hi Splend,

Good morning and a happy New year 🎊

I just wanted to write a few words about the customer agent, Donny who has saved the day and fixed my broken relationship with Splend after it was tarnished by an incompetent customer agent who simply didn’t have the foggiest to say the least!

Having said that, Donny got in touch and got it sorted, no sweat 😅

He was superb 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽

Thanks a million and keep up the hard work 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽💪🏽

I would not recommend using Splend

I would not recommend using Splend.

Staff in the Melbourne office were generally kind and courteous, but the service behind the scenes consistently fell short of what was advertised as “full-service.”

Be prepared to know your rights and assert them constantly — the process is smooth until you actually take possession of the car, after which the focus seems to be on fees and compliance. Mistakes happen, but the frequency and scale of issues suggest the company does not prioritise consistent, reliable service.

Key issues I experienced:

* Unacknowledged notices and difficult returns process: Written notices were submitted multiple times without acknowledgement. The returns process involves multiple steps that are not clearly communicated, causing confusion and unnecessary stress.

* Conflicting repair instructions: The lease stated that repairs should not be undertaken, yet staff verbally instructed me to carry out certain repairs, creating confusion and potential risk of breaching the lease.

* Unavailable vehicles: On one occasion, an EV was bricked due to a technical error. Requests to adjust rent for the affected days were declined, resulting in wasted time and stress.

* Incorrect fines: A $4,000 fine was applied in error, which caused undue stress and required intervention to have it removed.

* Unpaid / unhonoured discounts: Promised discounts were not applied correctly despite multiple follow-ups. Discounts used to make the sale were refused in writing.

* Incomplete insurance documentation: Required vehicle insurance documentation was not maintained properly. I could not access it through the Uber app and had limited time to resolve it, creating operational risk.

* Disputed cleaning fees: A cleaning fee was applied despite video evidence showing the vehicle was washed prior to return. The lease placed responsibility on me to ensure the car was spotless, but there was no practical way to guarantee this given weather and time constraints.

Overall, while staff were courteous, the service experience after taking possession of the vehicle was stressful, inconsistent, and not reflective of “full-service” leasing. This is what they promise, but don’t deliver.

Worst experience in Australia

⭐️ 1-Star — My Experience With Splend Melbourne (Tesla Rent-to-Own)

This is my personal experience and I wish someone told me all this earlier.

🚨 Hidden Beeper (Never Explained)
• They never told me the car has a loud beeper installed.
• Even after successful direct debit it can still go off.
• If a payment bounces, it won’t stop until you pay, call them, and wait 2–4 hours for them to manually switch it off.

💰 $433/Week With No Equity for 5 Years
• Extremely high weekly cost.
• You get zero ownership until the last week of year 5.
• Cancel early? You lose the car and everything you paid.

🛠 Support Not Matching the Price
• One warranty issue in a year and Splend didn’t book the warranty appointment.
• I had to call multiple times, get ignored, and even go to the office.

👤 Extra Driver = Extra Money
• $14 admin fee + $20 extra per week for a second driver.
• And they still don’t get Tesla app access.
• Every fine or Linkt notice forwarded = another $20 fee.

📩 Customer Service
• Raised issues over 10 times.
• Nothing changed. Felt like they simply didn’t care.

🚗 SPL Number Plates
• They don’t mention your plate will be SPL###, basically advertising that you’re renting.

⚠️ Final Thoughts

Based on my experience, the plan felt expensive, stressful, and extremely one-sided.
I’ll be following up with Consumer Affairs Victoria.
If you’re considering Splend, please read everything carefully and do your research.

Absolutely appalling experience

Absolutely appalling experience. I returned the vehicle after reporting hail damage, only to be hit with an extra $800 charge for minor paint damage on a panel that was already being repaired under insurance.

Then, without warning, they attempted to charge me over $7,000 — the full 12-month rental — despite being only halfway through the lease. This included issues that had already been resolved earlier with no extra cost.

Worst of all, they will re-lease the car to someone else while still trying to charge me, effectively double-dipping on rent until next April. I was told the car could be relet within a week — clearly not on my behalf.

Deceptive, unfair, and completely unprofessional. Avoid at all costs.

Hi Kris,

Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry to hear you feel disappointed with your experience. We do, however, wish to clarify the sequence of events.

When the vehicle was brought in for hail damage, our team identified additional damage that had not previously been reported. The branch attempted to discuss this with you at the time and offered assistance in assessing the damage and next steps. You chose to leave the branch before that process could be completed.

As outlined in the agreement, any unreported or unrepaired damage is the responsibility of the renter, and charges were applied accordingly. Additionally, when the contract was ended due to the payments not being made as per agreement, the account was finalized in line with the terms and conditions agreed to at the commencement of the subscription. No charges were applied outside those terms, and there was no attempt to “double-charge” for the vehicle.

We understand that unexpected costs can be frustrating, and our team remains available to assist. We are committed to resolving matters fairly and transparently.

If you would like to discuss this further, please contact us directly and we will be happy to assist.
