Spark is so shite I feel bad for the 2 million+ kids who do it because it doesn’t help comprehension or do anything else that it apparently does. Honestly I think it has decreased the amount of time... See more

Do not do your Sparx Reader
Worst app ever. First of all, you cannot choose a good book. When you do find it good, it just pauses you and asks you stupid questions, and you have to get 3/4. What's worse is that the questions are somewhat unrelated to the book. I would rather sit in detention at school just because it doesn't stress me out that much. Teachers, I hope you takedown this website. #bringbacknormalbooks
Ruined reading for me
I would give zero stars if I could.
It doesn't let you choose the book you want and it usually gives you a selection of books that you don't even like.
It also slaps you with obscure ai questions the second you actually get into the book.
If you get any less than three out of four questions correct you have to read the whole thing again and if you get it right it will still give you less points.
I have seen my friends cry over getting the same passage wrong multiple times and then when they finally get it right it only counts as about one twentieth of their homework. It will also slap you with the biggest piece of text if you are one point short of you 300 point target.
100% would recommend schools just let us read the actual book like they have done for so many years.
Sparx Reader is just a disappointment…
Sparx Reader is just a disappointment in the education system, my school started using all sparx platforms for homework last year, Sparx Maths is good, as well as Sparx Science, but Sparx reader is just dreadful.
It removes the flow and fun of reading completely, making kids dread doing their homework.
Sparx is useless
It is kind of pointless as there is no reason as to why to force students to read 10 paragraphs of a book they don't even like to get 10 srp out of their 300 srp task and why would you force people to read
ruined reading
All i can say is that this has completely destroyed reading for me, it has genuinely ruined all forms of reading for me and it is poorly coded. would not recommend, teachers who use this, do your job and set actual homework. The ai is horrible at selecting books and the books are no better.
Compliance disguised as pedagogy.
This app is utterly hideous, disgusting torture for children. it successfully increases the amount of time students spend 'looking at words', while completely turning them off from reading. It is a Compliance Tool disguised as a Pedagogical Tool.
My son hates reading now thanks to this nonsense app being introduced at his school.
Avoid at all costs.
It was absolutely terrible and it gave…
It was absolutely terrible and it gave me a book called the monster spotters guide to monsters keep in mind i am reading stephen king and said i like action books. And to top it off all the books feel ai generated. Maybe because THEY ARE.
Too tedious and doesn't actually develop your reading skills a lot.
Sparx Reader takes the fun out of reading. It gives you a very limited selection of books (which I often don't enjoy), forces you to answer questions which sometimes seem AI-generated and/or do not make much sense, and instead of helping you fix mistakes like Sparx Science, it simply forces you to read it again without no guidance at all and then give you a very small amount of points. Along with this, I don't feel as if my reading has been improved at all by using this website weekly (for homework). Very tedious to use, bores you out for a long time, and overall should be either completely fixed or not used at all by schools.
Useless
Boring, Useless and stressful, this website is the burden of my existence, the progression is horrid, the questions are AI and it is horrible for people with bad memory.
Sparx Review.
As a student who genuinely loves reading, I find the Sparx Reader system incredibly demotivating. The "reward" system forces me to read books I have zero interest in just to unlock the ones I actually want to read. Even with my preferences set, the suggestions rarely align with my actual tastes. Furthermore, the comprehension checks are far too rigid; missing a single question forces you into a repetitive loop that feels more like a memory test than actual reading engagement. Instead of encouraging a love for books, this app makes reading feel like a high-stakes chore.

Absolutely the WORST reading app…
Absolutely the WORST reading app especially for children. my children now refuse to read because of the misery faced with sparx reader. Punishment for reading to fast or slow is not right and in actual exams like igcse paper you are provided the text the WHOLE time and retrieve answers instead of having to remember intricate details. Im EXTREMELY sorry to anyone faced with this during there education it sucks any morcel of joy our of reading and sets the influence each book is for study instead of joy. Have a lovely day otherwise!
SO POINTLESS
pointless like please let me browse through a range of books and don't give me the same book 3 thousand times. just let me get back on seneca such a better site than sparx in general
Makes children hate reading
It’s takes 3 to 4 hours to complete and makes my child not want to read at all. The questions aren’t based on the main ideas of the book but random facts that you must remember
I hate Sparx.
Just pure shit.
I have lost the love for reading.
Whoever thought making a platform like this was a good idea is a melt.
Problem with book preferences
If I click book preferences, and click action, it will give me an adventure book that i already cliked for not for me
Sparx reader does not even function
I genuinely do not understand how someone can have a degree in technology, and be this technologically illiterate. I click on the correct answer to a question, and it says it is incorrect. Then, when I have to try again, it gives me the same question. I give the same answer, and it is suddenly correct. You must be completely incompetent to let an error like this slip through the cracks. How do you fail to code one of the easiest features known to man. I, a year 9 student, could code better than this. Hell, even my nan could code better than this, and she can’t set up her own eMail. Everyone at Sparx HQ, go and watch even one YouTube tutorial, please, you ignorant melts.
