Email Account Bouncing
On the 15th December 2016 my business email account hosted with sitebuilder.com started to bounce back to customers. I contacted SB.com via their tech Chat facility to be tole that it was server error and should be fixed in 24 hours. I was happy with that answer as the impact would have been minimal. 5 days later I'm getting the same story; the exact same story! My business is just about crippled as no one can contact me via email, old and new business. I cannot issue invoices or accept new work.
I have asked for their Disaster Recovery Plan, Customer Service Policy and for them to pray for me next next time they pass a church. What is more irritating is the fact the company hides it's ownership and all links to it. I've spent months getting my site as I want it, however, the first opportunity I get I will tear it down and go elsewhere regardless of the time it takes. STAY AWAY FROM sitebuilder.com
Updated Review
After much worry I got to speak to customer services in ..India.
They asured me my money would be refunded within 7-10 days. I felt doubtful due to reviews on here.
Pleased to say it was refunded within 3 days. I was told that it had auto renewed . I was asured my account was closed and received an email regarding this. So great result! Hope all reviewers on here get a good result too! Thanks sitebuilder for keeping your promise!
FRAUDULENT PRACTICES
Does anyone else want to join a class action against Site builder and its sister co's? I have had my bank account repeatedly used by these people to take funds from. Has anyone else experienced this? Now they refuse to reply to my emails even though i have sent them screen shots of statements showing the debits. If anyone is thinking of using Site builder or any of its co's, please DO NOT. Be warned, they will scam you. This is an independent review by me and i am not part of any of their competition.
Beware: This company do not operate ethically
I decided to use Sitebuilder to design a side project website back in January of this year. Their pricing wasn't easy to understand and there were hidden charges (extras that weren't priced but made out to be free or low cost). Their support was terrible when I had a few questions around the design and features. Today, I tried to cancel with their customer service department in Australia, only to be offered 20%, 50% and 75% discount, "this is our final offer!" All the while I wanted to cancel. While I felt sorry for the chap in their customer service team, I did feel that he wasn't able to understand me properly and he was trying everything he could to prevent me from cancelling. Overall, a terrible experience and one which you can save yourself by reading previous reviews - I wish I'd read them before venturing into this slapstick experience with Sitebuilder.
Convinced this is now a scam
I used sitebuilder.com last year to set up my first ever website. It was first or second in the list of top ten free website builders list (and somehow still is?). All seemed fine until I realised in the last week that some domain squatters are on my site so my website now looks like it is selling American sportsgear rather than my art. It seems despite ALL the warnings that your renewals are automatic unless you cancel, they DID NOT RENEW my domain and hosting and this has resulted in this domain squatter and real damage to my business.
Their support is non-existent and they do not answer e-mails. The lady I was on Chat with when first contacted them has a poor grasp of English, and just dropped off the chat and disappeared without resolving the issue. Note there are no company information details anywhere on the site. I only wish I had recognised that earlier.
I am having to completely rebrand, change co name etc a a result of this at a cost to me. I would not put it past them have sold my domain on as the more I read the more I believe they need a proper fraud investigation by the police. It appears to be a major scam on a massive scale.
Bad support.
Horrible support. You're paying for a service, just don't expect any real help.
Don't throw your money away
I signed up Oct 6 with Pro Plan paid over $60 in less than 4wks.i cancelled Nov 1 because the support was horrible they just send you a bunch of useless links that has nothing to do with your question via email/chat and you can't call because the phone number does'nt work I don't think they know much and i wonder if it's a one man show...mmmm they promised to give me $13 and i'm just waiting to see if they will give me the rest of my money. Don't waste your time with sitebuilder, do an extensive research before you give your money to scammers like sitebuilder
Great service
I really like this service they are great. I had an issue where I accidentally made a wrong purchase for my site and they help me resolve the issue with great customer service and refunded my money.
Don't do it!
They will never stop calling you. If not for one thing, there is always something they want you to pay for. Their fees are hidden and they don't tell you how much you are REALLY paying. Now I'm stuck with my work on a website I can't get down even though I canceled my payments.
Avoid like the plague
I used this company and gave it my credit card details. When it came to renew, I confirmed I did not wish to do so. Due to a fraud, my credit card details had been changed in March 16. I had paid Sitebuilder on my old card in October 2015. Somehow even though I did not authorise payment they managed to charge my new card. I've complained and asked them to explain where they got the new card details from and why they took the payment when I did not authorise payment. I've accused them of a breach under the Data Protection Act 1998.
They won't answer. They claim as my old card was linked to my new card they were able to take the payment. If that's true, it represents a major security flaw and begs the question why card providers issue new cards after a card has been cancelled for fraud. I'm going to report this but my advice to you is to avoid this company like the plague.
Sitebuilder is a Joke
This company has drawn money from my account quite a few times for no reason. I've had to chase them up refund my money, but they are terrible.
They messed about with my email and ended up deleting several important emails.
Technical team are so rude and incompetent. Words fail me!!!
complete scam
advertised a deal
took my credit card details for payment
but
then cntinued to take further money and add ons without informing me
bank have refunded me as agreed they had breached termms and conditions
but now they are blocking me from my domain unless i pay further
Absolute Scam - Not Exagerating
Not once, but twice have I now been browsing their potential services, clicked the 'cancel' or 'no thank you' button, and then been taken to a 'thanks for your payment of $.....' page. It's a literal scam and they are completely uncaring and unwilling to listen, let alone help. None of their phone numbers work and their email support staff are rude and uncaring and when they're tired of hearing from you, they just stop replying.
I do have one successful site with them and their sitebuilder tool is great - unfortunately they're thieving, scamming criminals and you should NOT even browse their website for fear of inadvertently being charged for something you never wanted.
I'm so stuck because I need to be done with them but I've invested thousands of hours into my website. It's absurd that they get away with this.
thieves and idiots
I paid for two years service. Had my domain released from Godaddy (terrible site builder program and I am computer literate). I have worked for a week with Sitebuilder to transfer my domain from Godaddy (i emailed numerous times all the auth codes, etc) yet they haven't switched my free site name to my domain name and say it will still be a week. Sitebuilder are crooks, just taking your money and not delivering your correctly named website. They just keep reading from their computer script and of course there isn't a supervisor available, NO CUSTOMER SERVICE, NO HELP, NO WEBSITE. Not sure if Godaddy isn't telling the truth, even though it says domain is parked free or if Sitebuilder is just inept. Both are probably not telling the truth, who knows, I still don't have a website that is up and running, you can't get any answers. NO ONE TAKES RESPONSIBILITY FOR THEIR WORK.
The baddest wite site to work with, do not use
I would not use this site for any reason, they will not help you at all, they just take your money then it's over.
Scam to get you credit card
Site builder nothing more than a virtual scam! The company is in the UK they have four telephone numbers Listed on their website but not one of them works. Once you enter in your credit card number to have them build your website you have no way to delete your credit card information. They then doublebill you on your credit card you have to phone your card and cancel and dispute the charges to get your money back. Terrible customer service every time you receive an email it's a different person it's probably all the same person. They never delivered my website terrible communication this is an elaborate virtual scam I do not recommend them whatsoever one star was the only option I would've said danger stay away from the site if you value your money! Complete Ripoff!!!
They did absolutely nothing they never built a website they did nothing but charge my credit card! Don't waste your money here you'll end up frustrated and without a website
They think they are owner of my domain
My domain has expired. SiteBuilder records the domain (WHOIS) in their own name and then when expired I can not manage it. To re-enable requires me to renew with them. Close a domain here is rooting hostage for the rest of life. ESCAPE FROM HERE !!!
Virtually a scam.
Sitebuilder is like a virus. Once you've signed up with them you're screwed. They bill for services you didn't sign up for. Like $137 last month for a site I canceled months ago. No way to get it back. Call their support number and it says it's not available. Now the ecommerce service is down and I have no idea when it will come back up again. I don't know if maybe they're out of business now and still charging for stuff. It's a disaster. Customer support is non existent and their site is horribly confusing. The site editor is actually nice and easy and I guess that's the draw. But, once you're in with them you are in big trouble. It is a scam.
Close to being a scam
Very difficult to navigate your way around the account and making payments so that you can easily end up paying for services you didn't seemingly select or want.
Attempted to pay invoices via PayPal and received a message that I had set-up "automatic payment profile...." - definitely had not had the option presented to choose that!
Many better options out there for websites - don't go with Sitebuilder!
