The Sinsheim Technical Museum presents…

The Sinsheim Technical Museum presents figures from one of the darkest periods of 20th-century history in a disturbingly glorified manner. Individuals associated with a totalitarian regime are displayed almost like celebrities, with no critical distance or clear moral framing.
This is not neutral historical documentation. It crosses the line into normalization and implicit promotion of an ideology responsible for mass atrocities and immense human suffering.
I find this especially unacceptable in a museum that actively attracts families and children. Visitors should be aware that the presentation lacks the educational responsibility and ethical context one would expect from a public institution.

Incredible collection of WW2 tanks yet disappointing

Incredible collection of WW2 tanks, vehicles, planes etc. Many old cars and the only place in the world you can enter the concord as well as its Russian counterpart. On the down side, its a rabbit-warren, very very poor and ultra confusing layout. There were planes in the air which one could not readily discern how to access, poor signage. Numerous buildings conjoined by many poorly visible access paths, so much so, some people were lost and saw only half the exhibit. The staff rude and arrogant like to so many other places in Germany. An impressive collection of military uniforms, without an explanation. One glass window had an explanation printed on a home inkjet printer and attached using sticky tape, next to a million dollar mercedes used by Hitler- it was rather embarrassing to see. The complex, including entry was ugly, one couldnt try to make it look more unhospitable. Very hard to find even the entry point and as we were leaving, lost and confused pedestrians were asking me where the entry point was. This is not German order, its disorder. Inside the Museum some parts are more organised, great care has been taken with the many exhibits. The tanks, so many rare and precious examples, were hemmed in, so for the tank enthusiast a very frustrating experience to be so close to iconic tanks but without the ability to actually see them properly. All in all though, with improvements required, the collection itself is amazing and incredible. Maybe some funding from the taxpayer could elevate the rough edges. Considering the national and international significance of the collection, Germans can and must do much better. The learning opportunity here is both timeless as it is unique. Klovekorn the Relic Hunter.
