OVERCHARGED AND POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE
I was quoted $375 but with surcharges attached it was $492.75. Surcharges were never quoted. It took them a long time to come do our shredding. Now that I am trying to reach the salesman for our account, he is too cowardly to even return a call or email. DO NOT USE.
Terrible experience
Terrible experience. Numerous promises of return calls. No showed on pickup date after promising they would show on that date. Long hold trying to cancel account. Waste of time. Would never trust them with my shredding at this point anyway.
Edit: Now they have debited our account for $165.50. But no service was provided. I called and the person I talked to said they would seek verification. That was all they could tell me. She said she would call me back, but I've been told that at least three times before and never received a return call. I will try to do a charge back with the bank.

As I am reading these reviews, I have had the same very frustrating experience with this organization. Our service is at a residential address. They will not allow a regular schedule. They don't notify you in advance when they are coming. They call from an identifiable number 1 hour before and say they are showing up. They do this any day of the week and at anytime. Then they have forged my signature and reported that the service was complete. I cancelled my service and on 3/15/24 they tried to get me to renew and I received a call from someone on the team misrepresenting themselves stating they can “do anything” to improve my customer satisfaction and with the hopes that we would return as a customer with shred-it to trust the company with our sensitive documents. When I asked him about improving the communication with our pick-ups and getting rid of the charge from 11/3/23 where the service was not provided, he reported that he could do neither and he misrepresented himself with this call. Again, they forged my signature for the 11/3/23 supposed pick up and are still billing me for this date. This morning they did the same thing with the unidentifiable call on a random day and a random time. I guess this was supposed to be the last visit, but this did not occur as there was again no communication about this visit. They again claimed the visit occurred, which it did not, and again, forged my signature as they said the service was completed. All these concerns have been emailed to the company's customer service/along with multiple conversations on the phone with no resolution.
Don't waste your time!!
We have called and called to schedule bulk pick up and no one ever shows up! Every time you speak to someone they give you new information, for example, the requirement to sign a contract for a bulk pick up. I am the administrative assistant for a company who needs sensitive documents shredded, regularly. Shred-It never shows up when needed and when they do show up, they do a half-ass job and don't collect all of the materials! The customer service is absolutely useless if you want to get something resolved. They are located outside of the US and have no idea of what's going on at the local warehouse. When I asked for the phone number for the local business to speak to someone there, they told me they're not allowed to give any contact information of the actual local business. Don't waste your time. Go elsewhere.

If you want to keep your sanity and you want your documents picked up before you have stacks of sensitive paper everywhere DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! We have been trying to get them to pick up since before Christmas. They JUST CAME TODAY. Everyone we talked to said they would get us scheduled to avail. They switched our account rep to a guy that is never responsive. Just overall poor service and execution!
Awful customer service
I am a receptionist at a company in SLC, UT and the company had used Shred-It for 10 years and recently we haven’t had to use them as much. My boss cancelled because they wanted to charge us more for less service. This was back in September of last year. He stopped the service and they collected the bin. Every other week since then we have received calls from overseas from their call center (accounts payable) about an unpaid invoice. They are relentless even though we paid in full when we stopped the service. They act like they cannot speak to the local branch in Utah that collected our bin to settle the confusion but instead continue to call and haven’t sent us a proper invoice (that we don’t even owe). It’s harassment at this point and there seems to be no end in site. DO NOT USE THEM.

The sales people are very pushy and insensitive. We asked for a quote and we bombarded with docusign emails asking for credit card and persons information. Could not get them to stop. Docusign did nothing to help us stop the harassment.

Do not use this company
Please make sure to get a proper bid from them. I was quoted one price and then the price more than doubled after all the surcharges. Very hard to understand their contract. Very misleading, and no surcharges were even added to the contract. Extremely overpriced. I used them for a one-time shred and the bill was double what was expected.
Dont do business with Shred it
Firstly, I must express my dissatisfaction with Shred itservice. I haven't received any pickups for nearly a year at Covid times, despite continuing to make payments. They are not providing me with a copy of the contract so that I can settle any outstanding fees.Now, askingmoney to pick up the bin. However, I must point out that the quality of service Shred itis below standard. Dont recommend it. Not worth paying $90 per month.

Go somewhere else. There service is terrible! We have had them for over a year and during that time they would occasionally get the pickup dates wrong. They would send me a notice of my pickup date and I would arrange for someone to be in the office on that date since we are a hybrid office and some days no one is in the office, and then they would show up a day or two before and we would miss our service because they kept giving us the wrong date! I was told there was nothing they could do about this as the local office is the once who sets up the pick up schedule and they can never be sure when they would visit. I could live with that once I figured out what they were doing, but then we moved and it has been a disaster getting our service switched over to the new location. Mulitple emails with my Rep have gone unanswered. He doesnt answer his phone and he has no voice mail to leave a message. And just try getting in touch with anyone in the local offices. They will just send you to the national number where you have to go thru a maze of bots and CSRs just to talk to someone. While they have now changed over to our new address, I am running into the same problems, trying to contact someone to complain about my reps actions (or lack thereof). I just want to speak to his manager or the person who runs the local Dallas office. But nope, STONEWALLED! They wont give me a name or number, just CSR saying Ill have my manager call you back.
Then it got ever worse with this company. After getting completely fed up with the mistakes and incompetence and unresponsive 800 number. I finally canceled our service in July. But today I got a past due notice from them for an invoice they were supposed to credit back because they showed up at our old address after I had given them the new address and then charged me for that visit. I have contacted them twice about this invoice, but nothing happened. I also found out they charged me for 2 services in August, after we had cancelled our service. The first charge was on 8-2-2023, which was for the box pickup. That is a valid charge as we have to pay for them to pick it up, but they never picked it up, it is still in our office today! Then on 8-9-2023 we were charged for a regular service pick up!!!! We are no longer customers. So now I have to spend an hour on the phone trying to get this straightened out. Their customer service is a JOKE, please don't use this company you will regret it!

DO NOT RECOMMEND SHRED-IT! Our original representative, Brady DeMell, was very responsive, but was replaced in June with Karol Ulloa. Karol has been unresponsive to calls and emails. Our office was doing a purge because we were moving to a new location. We originally had no problem getting scheduled for pickups/replacements, but for the last month I have been unable to schedule a pickup. We had to transport two large shred bins, weighing over 500 lbs., to our new location because we couldn't get a pickup scheduled. Supposedly, Shred-It had scheduled us for a pickup at our new location a week ago, but of course they never showed. I now have to call Customer Service daily and sit on hold for an eternity to get rescheduled and all they can do is call the local branch who will get back to me, but they don't. This is unacceptable! Maybe we'll get a response now that I've written a bad review!!

Like other reviews on this site, we tried to cancel our service with Shred It for over 3 months and requested that they come pick up the bin and bags. We did not have any paper in the bin or bags when they finally came to pick the bin up over 4 months after we first tried to cancel. I received an invoice for over $180 for pick up and removal of the bins. I called a number of times and have emails requesting the cancellation. There were also a few times during the 5+ years that we used them that we would postpone service for a month because we had very little in the bin and they still came and charged us. The postponement was even on our account and customer service said that they could not do anything about the charge. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!!

This is the worst company I have ever dealt with. Our Law Firm has been trying to cancel services for eight months. We have been billed for non-service. We have been double billed. We have been billed for months without receiving bins.
We have spent hours on the phone. Written too many emails to count, and we have sent certified documentation.
We have spoken to five (5) different customer service reps, and given multiple confirmation numbers.
They have also fraudulently signed for service.

Our company will NEVER use Shred-It again. We are currently stuck in a contract with them and they are the most difficult company to work with. Want to schedule an additional pick up? too bad! they will give you a reference number & send you over to their "operations team" which will call you back in 7-10 business days --even though that is not helpful what so ever if you have a two week pick-up schedule.... WHATS THE POINT. They outsource all their calls and they are wildly expensive. We also had the WORST possible service when trying to move where I was on the phone with them for over an hour trying to update our information and request a one time additional bin which they somehow messed up by a week. Absolutely the worst! Signed a contract on 7/6 for 7/13 pickup and they were a no show. Subsequent calls were made on 7/13, 7/14 and was rescheduled for 7/17 pick-up and again no show, no calls from them. At 5:15 PM on 7/17 was told they would pick up the next day, however, when I logged into my account no pick-up scheduled so O called again and was promised a pick-up on 7/18, however due to their poor reviews I have decided to search elsewhere. Unbelievable that a national company operates so poorly.
