Brandon Spencer with Shred-It serviced our DeSoto office today and did an excellent job. He was professional, efficient, and very welcoming. His outstanding customer service made the entire experience smooth and pleasant. We appreciate his hard work and look forward to doing business with him again.

We are a storage facility

We are a storage facility. Shred-it showed up for a client, and when they left they blocked all of our parking spots (including handicap) by parking sideways to have lunch. A customer asked them if they could move so he could park, and they told him to park around the corner. I went out they to ask them to move, and they laughed at me. So I called 911 then they moved. NO REPECT! Reno NV

Beware the Fine Print

Our office has been a customer of Stericycle/Shredit for 8 years. Rather than rating them 1 star, we are rating them 2 only because the actual service was good. We found service for a significantly less expensive price recently, however, and when we asked to cancel they told us the early termination fee was over $600. No mention of the 5 year term 8 years ago when we signed on but they were quick to email the tiny fine print when we requested cancellation. Apparently it is a 5 year contract and automatically renews every 5 years, with a hefty early termination fee. BEWARE THE FINE PRINT.

Worst Service ever

Worst Service ever. Consistently come outside of our business hours which they have listed on our account and then charge us for not being able to get to recycling. Customer service is atrocious and in another country. Lots of apologies with no correction of issues. Based on al of their poor reviews, they have no interest in their lack of customer service or improving it. DO NOT RECOMMEND. STAY AWAY and save yourself a lot of frustration.

DO NOT hire SHRED IT

This is one of the worst companies that I have EVER had to deal with. Their payment portal does NOT work but they don't let you know that your payment did not go through until months later, then when you call you can not get through to speak with management and when you leave a message, they do NOT call back. The only positive is the driver who is nice but when I have an issue he always replies "I am just here to pick up your bins that need to be emptied". I am disgusted with this business and they make you sign a 3-5 year contract!! Ridiculous!!

I scheduled a shred event with this…

I scheduled a shred event with this company in February, for June 14th. In March I received a Docusign document to solidify the event and promise to pay. The document was unclear and it made it sound like I was going to pay 2X as much as the original quote. So, I sent an email to my rep asking for clarification and I received another Docusign to sign. I again sent an email asking for clarification, and I followed it up with a call. I called again and left another message. Then I received an email stating that my event had been canceled because I did not sign the document. I called to see if I could reschedule, and I was told I would have to deal with Cory MacKenzie. I told them of the previous experience with Cory MacKenzie, I did not want to deal with him. This person tried to help me, but was unable to schedule it because he said the date was all scheduled. So, I told them I could not do that. Then about 2 weeks later another nice speaking sales person, asking why I canceled my event. I told them and they fiegned shock!! "Oh my we wouldn't want that to happen!!" Then they checked the date and said because it is on fathers day, (Not true, Fathers Day is on June 15th) they could not schedule the event, that I had scheduled in FEBRUARY!!!!! Since that time I have made 4 attempts to lodge a complaint against Cory over this issue and they will not get me to anyone who could address the complaint. This is in my opinion a horrible company

I wished I'd read all these reviews…

I wished I'd read all these reviews before working with them. We are in year two of a 3 year contract and I am seriously considering paying the cancellation penalty just to not have to deal with them any more. You cannot request a single change because they do not know what to do with the request. First 3 different people have to touch the request then it takes 5 emails and 5 phone calls for them to follow through on a change, only to show up on the wrong day to do something completely the opposite of what you requested. Upgrading to an additional bin? They show up to take one away instead. And vice versa.

This is the worse company I’ve ever…

This is the worse company I’ve ever dealt with. Despite asking them to contact prior to shred to make sure we were present, they did not. We were supposed to be on an every 3 month service but never made the change and charged us every month. Then we got a bill from collections that asserted that they had made multiple attempts to collect past due from us (first time hearing this and no overdue shown on bills) despite making monthly payments. We went ahead and paid what was supposedly outstanding in full just to get rid of them and now got another collections bill for another 359 dollars out of the blue which upon calling they was an “error”. They also (in error) charged us another month although we canceled the service — I can’t help but feel this is a scam that this company is running with the “collections” agency hoping that people don’t review and just pay the bill. I will be calling the BBB to inquire if there are other similar complaints.

Almost a scam

They did not confirm their appointment with my law firm for a shredding pick up. When contacted they couldn’t tell me whether someone had showed up for the appointment. It turns out they hired a subcontractor to do the job and couldn’t name the subcontractor. When they said they would reschedule they delayed the rescheduling until we had to cancel and get a second vendor. When informed of the cancellation they sent a “confirmation” email for a future appointment, suddenly showing themselves able of actually sending confirmation communication. They then said we would be charged for a missed appointment. It is an astoundingly atrocious company to deal with. Stay far away.

They have not picked up in 2 months

I have been with this company for 2 years, and for the most part, we have been fine with them. The guys that came to pick up are nice. The reason for the 1 star is the lack of customer relations. They do not care about you or your problems. If they miss a pickup, they will either try to charge you for being unable to get access (while we have camera proof of them lying about being here at the time they claim) or schedule a new date but do not notify you of the change. I will be moving to another company that actually cares about their customers.

Terrible/non-existent customer service

Terrible/non-existent customer service. They do not complete the pickups yet continue to charge payment. They’re completely non responsive. I have been trying to get them to pick up the console for weeks now but they refuse to do so. Would never recommend them to anyone.

I've had a frustrating experience with Shred-it. They keep calling me, despite the fact that I don't owe them anything. I've tried explaining this multiple times, but the calls persist. It's disruptive and unprofessional to keep reaching out without verifying customer status. This has gone on for over a year now. We are very disappointed with the lack of customer service and respect for my time. I would not recommend them based on this experience. Be warned. DO NOT USE THEM!

SCAM ALERT

SCAM ALERT! This is a bogus company. They will happily schedule your service and take your payment information but then never show up! The numbers for customer service are no longer in service or disconnect when you try to talk to a person. DO NOT USE! Good luck stopping payment and going through fraud reporting with your bank.

Surcharge fee added over 30% to cost

The business practice of Shred-It is unprofessional. When I called the 1-800 number, the day before the service was promised, a message was left for the local provider. Then I received a call from Steve at 708/966-3342. He said in summary that the date is computer generated on line and not an actual service date. He scheduled my appointment. Then he called back a few days later to schedule the appointment, as if we never talked. The person who came to do the actual work seemed professional and efficient. But then I received the bill. $409 quoted, $550 billed. Additional ‘surcharge’ fee…itemized as fuel, environmental and recycling recovery fees. I responded by email but got a message that the mailbox was full. And the invoice was automatically paid with my credit card on file. No ‘certificate’ documenting shredding was provided as promised. Only use this service with the understanding that they will charge you ALOT more than quoted and will be unreliable and unprofessional. The only professional was the person who came to my home on the day shredding performed.

I wish I would have looked at reviews…

I wish I would have looked at reviews before I signed up with this company. They have not sent invoices, I am told I owe much more than $57/month, they have only once come to pick up the bin and I had to request it, they have not been back in over a month. This is in violation of the agreement. I am trying to cancel but the rep does not respond to any texts after they get you to sign up. I had to file a complaint with the BBB. DO NOT RECOMMEND.

Very dishonest and deceitful company

Very dishonest and deceitful company. I was shopping around for shredding services and was sold on a bi-monthly pick up package. Didn't deliver the console until 2/28 then tried to charge us service for the entire month of Feb. The customer service is THE ABSOLUTE WORST!!!!! You aren't able to speak to anyone in the States and took me a total of SIX hours back and forth to finally get it credited. Plus my fault I realized the agreement is a FIVE year term (read carefully). The sales person was hands on until I had the billing issue and he magically disappeared. I signed an agreement for $79 plus service fees. The next month my bill went up to $111 per month with the explanation of it's in the contract to raise prices to adjust. I should have stayed with Iron Mountain. DO NOT CHOOSE this company.
